My quick review of SoM Horde side

Here’s my take on the SoM.

Levling: Despite the 100% bonus the grind is still just too painful to be “fun”. It is a chore and nothing else. The bonus xp of 100% is not enough and why in the world was it not applied to monsters aswell when that is the primary source of grinding?

Dungeons: While the dungeons are enjoyable, the repetitive grind for that X gear piece you need to drop is still the same. Please Blizzard, it is enjoyable to do a dungeon 1-3 times but after that, it once again, becomes a chore.

PvP: (TLDR: It is horrible)
I can only speak from the Horde side’s perspective here. The PvP scene playing as Horde is an absolute catastrophe. Losing 19/20 Alterac Valleys while desperately trying to farm exalted rep just to be able to buy a freaking 100% mount because the normal mounts were left costing 900g each is a blunder too embarassing for words.

And while I am at PvP, let’s talk ranks. Why is the old ranking system in place when it once again just makes the game a chore? I for one would rather have the TBC honor point system on ALL PvP gear. That way one could PvP, get the best gear having grinded enough honor and still not need to spend 12-18h a day PvPing.
I mean at least remove the blasted honor/rank decay.

Raiding: The only light in the tunnel here is Zul’Gurub. It is easy, brings good gear (could be 2-3 times the loot to help gearing since we are on a strict time scheduele of 1 year here).

Alas, the rest is just garbage.
The concept of harder raids while on the one side can be seen as a fun challenge, is on the other hand a pure plague when the loot is neither better nor plentiful. If you want people to do harder raids: buff the loot or make it vastly more plentiful (2-3 times) than it is.

And it’s not just the raids themselves, it’s the insane grind of consumables to boot. We went from having a world buff meta to an even more insane meta: Extreme Consumable Farming.

Like what the ?
This game is mainly praised for its raiding, PvP and community - NOT CONSUMABLE FARMING!
And while people hate the concept of bots and botting (me included), I freaking welcome it in this case because it is not worth the time and effort to raid when the majority of the playtime is spent to run around and farm gold all day long.

To wrap this “review” which is more of a complete rant up:
SoM is not worth the time.

Bro. It’s okay to be burnt out.

It certainly is. Yet has nothing to do with this.

Delete SoM.

Fresh with better troll racials when?

So…don’t play it?

How are people supposed to give feedback about things they have never tried by themselves?

So change the line to “SoM is not worth MY time”

I played SoM for a while and then realised in my casualness that it’s not targeted at me……so I stopped playing. I didn’t need to create a thread about it dissing it as I knew there are other formats of the game out there more suitable to me.

If you read my post carefully you would see at the very top, the statement you are looking for.

That being said, for many of US there are no other formats of the game that are suitable.

I dont understand why the OP is getting that response. He is right in that SoM worsened the part about vanilla WoW that is the worst (for me atleast). Farming gold all the time to be able to play the game.

In ERA/original Vanilla one could say that Worldbuffs and consumable madness is not necessary (which is true) but in SoM they changed and buffed raids in a way that promotes thoose very things even more instead of needing the players to engage in harder/more fun boss mechanics.

What i disagree with the OP is the improved EXP. I find that one remarkably enjoyable. Atleast on the full server the population is flourishing on all levels. The dungeon/quest (especially elite quests) exp boost (but not mobs) enforces group play in thoose levels. And while leveling is a chore sortoff which we have all done far to often if we are honest, doing dungeons that reward you both with great items and this generous amount of exp is awsome.

But thats about it. What awaits at max level is not fun. The Season ends fairly quickly and the corresponding grinds are not adjusted towards it which again enforces the already unfun and intensely time consuming part that is the “grind” that you need to do to play the (end-)game in the first place or you swipe your credit card and rationalize the BoT madness that plagues this game for far to long.

Currently i use SoM to level alot of alts that i can then use to have a even better time on ERA.
