Why don’t you just make your own thread on the perils of PvP instead of piggy backing onto other threads, you may find more like minded people.
you can read the thread i posted today, why does blizzard hate you
Then why try to piggy back onto this thread, the OP had no mention of PvP?
Oh is that the thread with no answer in 6hrs? Says it all then.
who are you by the way
You couldn’t afford to know me.
your identity issues are really cute plz continue
Well, when you’re unhappy with anything in life, including games, you just gotta stay away from it.
I wish you good luck in your real life/gaming adventures!
I’m pretty sure blizzard still has the “What made you unsubcribe” reason box when you click unsubscribe
How are there so many people complaining about both timegating and this at the same time?
No surprise there as this is coming from the player whose biggest priority in Legion was defending uncapped titanforge system and saying that it’s a brilliant design while your only argument was “it lets me get good gear from lfr, i don’t care about people who want a normal progression system”. Thank god they didn’t listen to your feedback.
Like what? Now that the covenant story is done, there is no relevant timegate at all. You played through BfA where there were timegated stuff like essences, especially memory of lucid dreams and similar ones, titan residuum for azerite armor, and then the corruption vendor rotation which was pretty much a month long timegate sometimes. Yet somehow you find timegating in this expansion too much… That’s laughable at best, at this point you are just parroting the nonsense of other whiners while most likely you are just frustrated that the game requires a little bit of effort now to gear up instead of spamming lfr for +40 ilvl titanforged gear.
Not just other people, but he does it as well in the same post… Like, this is the point where people just don’t know what they want and blame Blizzard for it.
Did you not make a post not long ago that you was no longer coming on the forums? Well that lasted long! Clearly your post was not seeking attention at all.
And now you make a post to tell us why your cancelling your sub? Cringe… Do you think this is an airport where you need to announce your checkout?
Wasn’t this the player that felt picked on? I seem to remember telling them that the only way forward was to ignore all the insults and just carry on. If that is the same player, then making a thread like this does not help in any way, shape or form.

Fair enough.

This expo offers a “casual hardcore” quicker gearing than other expos. Currently a casual hardcore can be at 200ilevel, that’s mythic +6/7 gear. The only thing that is different is it stops there. I would not call throwing yourself at trivial content and hoping for TF a “viable progression path” in the same way I wouldn’t call someone buying lottery tickets everyday in possession of a solid financial plan. Agree to disagree.
-
Well SL has removed chores in favour of content of choice, so the issue here is apparently you like nothing but quests. They spawn every day, just like in BFA. The game now makes them optional rather than mandatory. Little has changed here tbh apart from you do them if u will.
-
SL timegating is not significantly different to BFA. One exception is questing is gated but other systems aren’t. Agree to disagree.
-
Fair enough, but we can’t expect blizzard to never try new things.
-
Okay fine, so it’s not for you. I mean SL offers freedom abound, so it seems the issue is you don’t really find much to do with this freedom because what a max level can do now and once could do in BFA isn’t different, just less chores. There are still works quests and questlines etc. It’s just up to you to do them.
I thought you had left already. Did you have longer on your sub or did you come back to give it another whirl?
Either way all the best finding something you enjoy.
i kinda feel like quitting as well.
the maw and torghast are tedious.
Everything basicly was timegated to the extreme. renown, the story. torghast quest, pvp gear
the story isnt even that long and honestly the 4 zones we got are very tiny. Previous expansions,we got more zones and bigger zones.
I like shadowlands in general, but its just a lazy expansion. WoD might have tons and tons of scrapped content but its base zones had far more to do and and were far more enjoyable than what we got in shadowlands. If the first major patch doesnt come soon and bring us multiple zones then this expansion will be bleeding out players very quickly due to having a burn out
Ok man those are your points ,its legit, have fun out there!
Remember you always a citizen of Azeroth make us proud fighting trools in other games!!
Yup exactly.
Reminds me of my Venthyr Renown vendor, a reason that makes me consider quitting everyday.
“Can you even afford my goods?”
Mnope.
I shall eventually get burnt out of farming anima from every world quest and switch to ESO until the next patch… but that day is not today.
Im still here cause in tryin to watch all the 4 covenant story. Its hard… but ill be’ victorious!
Fair enough, I hope you have a good time with what you decide to go for.
I feel like the two of us have been pulling the game in opposite directions, and this time I got a bit of an upper hand in opposition to last time, so I wanna explain myself a little bit.
But I wanna say it’s just fair enough. You do you.
- I completely understand that. I kindda like that there’s something a little bit out there this time, unlike last time, but I think a mix is ideal. But yeah, thematically this is in many ways tBC 2.0 - but this time instead of being enveloped in the Fel, we’re enveloped in the force of Death. I think it’s pretty great come straight off of Kul’tiras, but I get your point.
- The game’s telling you to go away once you’ve played “enough” by no longer rewarding you. That’s no fun, I completely agree with that - and it’s something the original game set out specifically to avoid.
- I mean yeah, that is straight forward.
- Completely agreed.
- Fair enough. I think they have tremendous potential but they aren’t quite delivering in every aspect.
- Understandable, and I think this is yet another danger of linear narrative design. Combined with the time gating, this has been quite frustrating.
So it might surprise you to hear - but I actually agree with a lot of this. It hasn’t made me quit because I think I play less than you, but I think I understand where you’re coming from.
I really think it’s the eggtimer problem: The notion that the game only rewards you for a certain amount of time and then it just stops until a certain time comes up. So you put a timer on your desk and you only look at the game whenever the timer expires, and outside of that you go and do something else, because that’s just how the game tells you to play.
There are basically two options for how this will go:
- There’s “too much” and people can’t make it and get stressed out because they wanna make it for each reset to not fall behind
- There’s “not enough” and people get bored
Since the amount of stuff that people wanna do is different depending on how much they play, this is an unwinnable battle. You can make a lot of the rewards behind it cosmetic, which is what they did in tBC and WotLK, and that works okay for the most part, but it’s not ideal.
I want Blizzard to fix this - and the only real way I see them doing it is to get rid of egg-timers other than lock-outs for very, very high-end rewards.
