To get to Naxx you had to level up to 60, gear up in dungeons, complete the various attunements, gear up in MC, gear up in BWL and Onyxia, get through AQ, and eventually make your way to Naxx. And all the stuff inbetween. Each step, each boss had its own unique challenges to over come. Sure there were some guides and sources like Elitist Jerks for information, but the player base were no where near as skilled as they are now, and addons were not anywhere near as helpful.
There was no big ilvl reset as each new raid came out. There was no catch up gear. You literally needed to go through the start of the game to the end of the game.
I remember the guild I joined in Vanilla, they were the 3rd top guild on our server, and they only just downed the Twin Emps, before BC Pre-Patch arrived.
It was nothing like the current raid systems.
Only because at the moment, once the content becomes legacy, the Collectors swoop in and collect it without the Challenge.
At the moment, that stuff holds value, because the only people with it, are the people who achieved it when it was truly a challenge. And that was a challenge like no other the game has seen since.
I tell you what. Levelling through Classic BC 0-60 over the summer this year, was one of the most joyous experiences I’ve had in this game for such a long time (I waited for Wotlk pre-patch for 60-70 but BC levelling was always terrible).
If it wasn’t for DF about to arrive, I would do it again on Classic. But I highly recommend it. And if there are things you want to collect along the way, it’s worth planning your path.
Of all the raids to redo… that comes across as one of the more boring. The game mechanics are so different now, in classic they just breezed through the raids because they are that well known. The raids don’t seem to be that engaging.
wana clear naxx, its still in retail, with all tmogs available…
wana raid naxx, there is still classic…
wana get t3? get it on bmah…
wana get t3? there is still classic…
As for timegated mounts, pets, mogs, achievements… They should rightfully stay locked. Just like somebody else said, whoever played and saved and achieved those things back when game was just a baby, they should have that kind of prestige.
As a shaman, if i take all the CMG, Elite, t3 out of my wardrobe there is still around 70+ apperances to farm (not counting other collorations of them), so I realy don’t get what you want with old naxx and rewards in it?
Why does it matter? It’s the same model. Exactly the same model as it is on BMAH.
Belive me your wishes will never ever come true. You wana raid weekly, they introduced you Classic WoW. Come on bro…
Again, Classic WoW is for you then, since time traveling wont be available for many expansions to come!
How is sinking gold into BMAH giving the same experience of Nax as if I were there farming it weekly? It doesn’t matter that they are the same items as long as the way the current source works is not comparable at all to the old source.
I am not saying it is likely to happen soon, but saying ‘never’ is a bold statement. At some point Blizzard will need an efficient way of creating content to a filler patch, and caving in to wishes from collectors do give them the free wins that they needs in those times with regressing player retention.
It’s really interesting, seeing some replies here being so opposed to it.
I think the idea is great, the solution is very simple and very straight forward, and it would correct a giant mistake aka removing content from the game. It served no real purpose to remove Naxx, ZG and ZA and other things. Yeah, I understand removing things like M+, challenge mode etc which are done according to the class systems / tuning in that expansion, but I will never understand someone removing a raid for example.
And don’t tell me it’s impossible - look at Karazhan. It’s a raid, it got introduced as a dungeon, and now it’s even a M+. And it works fine.
I would love the original T3 back and I would probably farm it on all classes, and not because it’s special due to being rare, but because it actually looks so amazing (druid, mage and warrior sets), aswell as Atiesh. Not to mention the removal of the tiger / raptor, which were so stupid decisions. You guys removed one of the most beautiful mounts in the game for no real reason.
How does running the instance one shotting every mob and boss give the same experience as reaching Naxx the same way players find back in Vanilla days. It doesnt.
Likewise, I find it interesting that 3 thread suddenly appear in one weekend demanding the re-implementation of old content.
It makes me wonder what streamer has been crying about it.
Now personally, if it was put back in the game. Of course I would farm it. But that doesn’t mean it should be in the game.
Reaching and raiding Naxx during Vanilla, was a very different achievement to stepping into Sepulchar or Nyalotha. Very few guilds ever got there.
I agree that original ZG was a strange thing to removed from the game. But I agree with why ZAs mount was removed and I even took part in that time trial and never got the mount.
Remember all those items have been available to collect on Classic realms. It’s not like you can’t have them.
Not same, but it provides the possibility of being in the instance and experiencing the work of the raid designers. As opposed to rushing through with a proper raid group, soloing the place in a slow tempo gives a much better enjoyment and appreciation for the work put into the creation of the raid.
On a scale, this is much closer to vanilla raiding than parking BMAH-logging all day.
So how is that not the same as running the experience in Dragonblight?
If you were really looking to experience the raid from the point of view of the designers, then you would be running the raid as part of a raid group in Classic.
Sorry, I’m honestly trying to take you seriously, but you’re talking absolutely rubbish.
You’re saying:
But then Vanilla WoW raids, is not Retail either.
But they’re in Classic.
You’re just making very poor excuses.
Please, I can have a debate on this subject and I have seen some very good arguments over the past few days. None, that have swayed my opinion though. But these just are not even denting the cheese I’m afraid.
If it’s such a problem to bring old Naxx into the game just because of the rare items, then Blizzard shouldn’t have added rare items like Gutrender, Chromatic Sword, Headchopper or Ta’Kierthan Songblade back earlier with the level scaling in Legion.
