I am one of the people who are against the RDF but as in all situations nothing is simply black and white, the truth hides somewhere in the middle. Obviously we don’t want RDF for max level content, because the daily HC+ would be an instant leave scenario once someone sees a player with 3000 GS. So scratch that. However, RDF up to level 70, or ,old world’’ content, why not? It will make the world alive again, zones probably not so much but there would still be people questing whilst they wait for queueing up, just like the 50% exp buff did. Also it will give us folks bored of raid logging some incentive to play the game more for like a dungeon or two on our alts. I just can’t see the harm in reviving the dungeon low level life again. I would love to hear you guys’ opinions on this.
Agreed, RDF for lvl 10-79 or so would be perfect.
I had to actually quest on my Mage because there’s either no groups at night when I play, or there’s only one group going for a specific dungeon, then we all go our separate ways after it.
It’s too late now, but the best thing that could have been done for phase 2 is probably to not add HC+ at all and instead add RFD for all 5 man content.
That way mains could still get their daily heroic done for conquest emblems and alts gear up at the same time. Right now, alts are just being gatekeeped from gearing up through 5 mans, and mains will stop doing them all together once we get our initial conquest gear.
Because let’s face it, basically every HC+ run is a path of least resistance skip run, so obviously people don’t genuinely enjoy the content. The dungeons themselfes are alright, but pretty much every affix is just plain annoying and unfun. Especially Gundrak/DTK one and AN/OK.
HC+ with affixes was a good idea on paper, but didn’t really work out in practice.
Edit: The issue, I guess, is partly due to awkward tuning. They’re easy enough to blast through on a P1 geared main, but difficult enough to justify gatekeeping a freshly dinged toon with quest gear/normal dungeon gear. This is especially true for tanks, and DPS to a lesser extent. Only role that somewhat can get away with lesser gear is probably a healer.
Edit 2: Realised I was somewhat off topic. But ye, they should just add RDF since the dungeon design in WotLK is vastly different to both TBC and vanilla. 10 minute dungeons don’t justify the gather group phase anymore, which in most cases is longer than the dungeon itself. In earlier classic expansions, you were atleast expected to spend some time doing the dungeon.
Edit 3: The new dungeon finder that is supposed to replace RDF also gives me headaches. People just don’t understand it. They queue up for 8 different dungeons and seem to just expect everyone on the list has done the same. Most people aren’t even looking at what dungeon others are queued up for before inviting. Or reading the comment. Happened so many times I lost count that someone invites me for a dungeon I’m not even queued up for, and get mad when I leave, “but you queued up this dude”. No I didn’t.
I love those “I am anti-rdf but…” topics. Clearly shows that rdf is the big part of wotlk, when even anti-rdf ppl want it to be added to the game.
If you want to make a distinction between heroic and heroic+ that is more than sensible on various grounds, but those kinds of problems you mention here are none existent or very easily worked around.
RDF had an Ilevel requirement for the ability to queue heroic, sure some people might try to equip some none-sense stat gear to get in, but then as you say it would be a vote kick as we can all clearly see it.

Funny that the time proved that removing RDF doesn’t improve the social, so it needs to be re add.

The best way to keep the forums social is not adding the RDF and no way to solo old content. Am I right DJ? Just look at all the threads and discussions it has generated.
You sure do love chatting/arguing with him, that’s for sure. Though let’s be fair here. Including RDF and ability to enter older raids solo (let’s be frank I know my Paladin can solo solid portion of those) without jumping through hoops, would in turn lead to creation of topics about how much those features “destroy” the game so the social aspect of the forums would be intact.
As far as RDF or even just Cross-Realm LFG for PvE it is at least partial fix to small/medium realms issues. It won’t fix everything but even just widening the scope of search would increase smaller realm players to experience the content.
But sadly Blizz has greater ability at actually narrowing the pool from which players can chiose rather than widening it. Titan Rune is a great example of that. While their stated goal was to make Heroics relevant all they accomplished was splitting the players that run heroics apart based on their reason to do so. Those that need a gear because they just got to max level and those that do it for the daily (it’s still a daily with good rewards even if you don’t need emblems anymore) will rarely if ever party again.
The best way to keep the forums “social”, is making sure classic is not fun enough for players to actually spend their time in-game. So they come to hang out here to vent and looking for arguments instead.

Frankly, I don’t give a damn anymore. I’m gonna hit all the conquest I need this week running hc+ with 4200+ groups, and I don’t really have time for alts. Congratz Blizz. I will now raidlog untill Arthas on one char and never pay for another of your games again. I guess you “won”?

We need RDF, and we want it now
I’ve just moved on to levelling my alts to 51 overtime then playing them a ton during AV weekend (then letting them rot when its not AV weekend).
It’s tedious to level via quests once you’ve done it multiple times.
