My Warrior can wear a Yeti costume or look like Sailor Moon in combat, but not Leather or Mail. Why?

Again, check ingame, which races you can select which armor types on

it’s a design choice, and most likely not a technical limitation.

They also want to bring all classes to all races, via story, so it’s not really a limitation from that prespective either.

We can’t know, we are not programmers at blizzard.

But don’t need to be programmers to know the technical limitation you are talking about doesn’t exists.

We know it doesn’t exits by just playing the game. We don’t need external tools like wowhead. Just being a little observant while playing the game is enough.

We can play the game and click inspect on any item and the game show us a 3D model of our character wearing that item.

We can create for example two identical characters of the same race with different classes, like a mage and a warrior, and see that the race character model is exactly the same.

We can play the game with a warrior, paladin or DK and actually wearing those cloth/leather/mail items. And the same with other classes excep cloth ones with similar results.

I don’t need to imagine how my paladin looks like with cloth gear if transmog rules were lifted. I saw it by just playing the game.

Seriously. There is enought evidence by just playing the game to proove the technical limitation doesn’t exits.

This rules doesn’t exists due to technical limitation. They exists because it was a deliberate choice by the devs when transmog was implemented. Just like not allowing whie transmog was another choice but they change it, and not allowing to learn all type of armor transmog with one character was another deliberate choice and they will change it in TWW. A choide that could make sense in the pass but today, with all the ridiculous things we have available, it doesn’t make sense anymore.

You think is enough maybe is not otherwise it would be already possible.

Maybe it’s possible that that can be accomplished, but it doesn’t imply that developers want to do it.

I don’t believe that devs are well-intentioned enought to desire to make those changes but incompetent enought to be able to do it as if the only reason we have transmog rules is because no dev has found yet how to remove them.

There is a simple explanation for why it is not possible: Blizzard does not want it.

In Star Trek you have people running around in bathrobes while fighting with lazer katanas and they’re called knights too.
We should totally be able to transmog our warriors to look like them.

Not trying to be rude but they said it used to be the reason, not that it still is a thing.

Besides, I’ve never identified anyone by looking at their gear. Since I started playing PvP during WotLK, I’ve always looked at the enemies’ resource bars and their pets if they had any to figure out what classes they were, until I found out you could use Addons and later class color HP bars.

Only thing I can think of that might be problematic is weapons. Can a rogue do a backstab with a dagger transmoged into a 2handed mace?
Or a hunter firing arrows from an axe?

Thanfully in SoD now there is the Gaxe.
