[N-RP] [Adventure|Trading] The Meridian Edict & Solstice Bazaar🦊

I will now proceed to look at you with my big round eyes to consider reading this entire post, or atleast skim through it maybe, because I don’t really know how else to start a post like this.

🦊 What is the Meridian Edict? 🦊

The Edict is a caravan-style guild, inspired by Vulperan culture - well, what Blizzard gives us, with our own homebrew and interpretations on top. We are a found family, a band of outcasts and the misunderstood who have come together to find an understanding that they otherwise have struggled for - and fight to keep and cherish it. Together, we fight against difficult odds to solve injustices in the world, and search for more information about a mysterious entity that seems to be the source of cataclysmic strife in the world, unknown to most.

What hobby isn’t better when enjoyed with friends? The Edict’s bonds are not just important IC, but OOC too, with a healthy and active community of friends. You’ll find someone chattering about something at all hours, and everyone is always eager to help out if you need a hand in anything! We sometimes have game nights, especially on birthdays, with Jackbox or Phasmophobia. Our community is an inclusive and welcoming space - we don’t welcome, however, jerks. So it goes without saying that behaviour like racism, transphobia, or any other kinds of intolerant behaviour will not be - ironically - tolerated, and grounds for instant removal. Which is the bare minimum of how behaviour like that should be treated.

We have a website that you can explore for more detail that we’ve put a lot of effort in, so it’d be pretty cool if you looked at it so I can justify that it was totally worth dedicating hours to making it to the other officers:

🎲 What are events like? 🎲

The Edict features elaborate storylines where your character’s choices and actions will directly affect the story, with the consequences of their actions shaping the world around them. As such, our stories aren’t scripted, and there are no predetermined outcomes - everything is in the hands of the players. We encourage active participation, offering personal DMing to those who want to make progress on stories outside of events, as well as a dedicated channel in the Discord for general character happenings.

Our main campaign features homebrewed original stories, with incredibly complex original cultures, magics, and histories - even original con-languages, for those interested in them. If you’re someone who loves consuming lore and worldbuilding, you will love the DMing of our GM Ken, with lore that is consistent and well thought-through (well, compared to recent WoW lore, the bar is low). The Edict faces an otherworldly threat, a mysterious entity that seems to seep its influence through various cultures, one that has perpetuated battles in its name, disease, and more. It is up to them to understand it, and protect each other from it - especially now that they are in its sights.

On our website, we keep a list of our active and previous plot lines and stories, so you can get an idea of what type of content you’ll find!

👥 What kind of characters would be a good fit for the Edict?👥

As it was mentioned, the Edict is a caravan-style guild, inspired by Vulperan culture - but this doesn’t mean that we are only Vulpera, or only Horde races. We are looking for the people from all kinds of walks of life and backgrounds - who would want to be a part of the caravan and more “rugged” and “tribal” culture of vulpera and other Horde-leaning races - and who would want to explore Azeroth and make it a better place for everyone!

On our website, you can see what kind of members we already have as an example who could fit in - but this doesn’t mean that you have to be “the same”! As long as your heart and values are in place and you want to be a part of the same group as them, the Edict would find a place for you!

☕ What is the social like? ☕

We are an active group both IC and OOC, with roleplay happening most nights of the week - spontaneously planned around where and when people feel like they want to roleplay, and, honestly, we want to roleplay a lot. Often we drop into hubs such as Booty Bay or Dawn’s Blossom, letting our characters develop their friendships in their downtimes, and often getting up to mischief and shenanigans. It’s rare a ‘casual’ night doesn’t end up with some kind of bit being played out, whether that’s one person delivering spam mail, or someone else dropping anvils. Often our guild chat is being filled with brainrot and memes as we roleplay, though never to a distracting degree.

These shenanigans can often evolve into more than just side fun, with a variety of subplots available to delve into - which storylines evolve naturally alongside daily life, outside of events. We try to avoid too much roleplay being just sitting around in one spot doing nothing, so having plots that you can engage in during socials outside of events help prevent stagnancy - as well as help develop characters’ personal storylines.

💌 Sounds great! How do I join? 💌

Thank you for taking interest in us! Our recruitment process is simple - though a little different than most guilds, since we prioritise inviting people who will suit the space. We don’t want to randomly add you and you have to loiter around because you realise you may prefer a different guild, and we also want to prevent people who - to put it bluntly - suck. So, instead of immediately accepting people joining us we invite you to spend some time roleplaying with us and our characters first, to see if you find this is a space you want to commit your time and energy to, and if you definitely have fun with us. In the meantime, we’d like to speak with you OOC to get to know you as a person, and for you to get to know us as people instead of names on a screen. If all goes well, and you definitely would like to join, then great! We will arrange an IC interview to have your character join!

To start, please read the FAQ linked below. We worked really hard on it, and it’d be great if you could read through it to get the repeated questions out of the way. Once you read that, you can contact us for any further questions, as well as being informed when our next public RP that you can join will be!

https://sites.google.com/view/solsticebazaar/recruitment/faq

You can contact us in multiple ways! Though discord is preferred, that way we can spam you with our expansive reaction image folders.

Additionally, the page below features various rumours your character could have heard about the Edict and people they interact with - which could help in giving you a better hook for your character to approach the Edict with - whether you want to join the guild itself or not! All roleplay is welcome, and we love to interact with the greater world

The Solstice Bazaar is the travelling shop of the Meridian Edict! We provide responsibly-sourced goods & the services of our talented Artisans and crafters to assist you in your expeditions!

We have a variety of wares to offer and happily accept trading and buying or negotiating for other goods from you, with our items being made using Total Roleplay 3 Extended - which means that people can have an item within the TRP3 add-on that may even be coded to have special effects. If you don’t have Extended installed, or your items aren’t made using Extended, then it’s no worries at all and we can just emote the traditional way. You do not need to give us in-game currency for any of our items or services, it is all done via roleplay and play-pretend.

We largely go by the idea that 1 silver is roughly equal to 1 pound or euro, but math isn’t important to us and we would rather just roleplay than discuss the logistics of virtual currencies, so please don’t mind if our perception of what the economy is in WoW is different to yours. At the end of the day, you’re always welcome to try to haggle or negotiate.

My honest unbiased review of the Edict:

I went on holiday and couldn’t access my WoW account for a week, and I got back to my inbox on every single character I own full of saronite bombs. I don’t think the auction house pices for them have ever recovered. I have so many saronite bombs. I fear for if I’m ever gone longer than just one week. Do you understand how many bombs that is? I have an entire tab in my warbank dedicated to them, and several alts, and I still am struggling to store all of them.

You should join if you too want millions of saronite bombs in your mailbox.

One of my favourite moments in the Edict had to have been when somebody went away for a week and I thought it would be really funny to buy out the entire stock of saronite bombs to distribute across their in-game mail. I sure hope that didn’t have any lasting effects on the economy… or their bank space…

On another note, this is easily the best guild I’ve ever joined. My characters get to both be miserable and have wholesome moments in-character with diverse characters with a lot of dynamics, and I get to have the time of my life with some of the best people I’ve met through this guild OOC, I recommend!

:rainbow_flag: Start of June Wrap-Up! :rainbow_flag:

May was amazing! A quieter month for the Edict, with a few members on holiday, but over all great! We made more progress in our expedition to the depths of Azj-kahet, searching for our still-missing friends, as wel as had some amazing socials!

The Azj-Kahet campaign continues, with new friends…?

Burning their way through a web-covered inn, the Edict have established their own outpost in the maw of the Nerubian infested deeps, their new staging of operations while scavenging for their missing people. The more they find out about a mysterious group of Kaheti Nerubians, the more dire the situation for those kidnapped seems to be, with mentions of Ethereals - and the creation of new weaponry.

Meeting once more with old friends of the Edict in Northrend, of both the eight-legged and two-hooved varieties, the Pathfinders have re-established old bonds to seek support down below.

Drinks, good humour, and food with friends, all despite the everlooming threats.

Not all is dire, with the group still meeting nearly daily across the Crossroads, Booty Bay, Stormwind, Orgrimmar, and even- the Undermine? Attending a Casino Night at the Diamond Lounge, where they were faced with annoying Arakkoa, sentient gorillas, and alcoholism all in one night.

That said… how much can they focus on the fun of the night knowing that so many foes lurk in the shadows? With a rising number of undead enemies with personal vendettas against each member? Especially with the Edict successfully capturing one of them? It feels like a race against the clock, with which side will make their move first.

:speaking_head: Rumours Spread… :speaking_head:

Those who live in the Undercity and even Silvermoon may have seen posters littering the streets, all put up by a rather scantily clad elven woman, depicting what appears to be an undead ‘man’ adorned in makeup and dresses. Though, it’s not clear if he’s conscious - or if this is just some sort of prank on the poor soul.

Earlier in the month, late in the night, a grave was robbed in Silvermoon - that of a young Quel’dorei girl. Investigations are unclear on who or why this happened, with the entire corpse going missing. Though, rumours say it’s related to the Roseclaw murder, that happened four years prior.

Booty Bay

On Wednesday the 4th of June you’ll be able to find us in Booty Bay, opened from 8:00PM Server Time, until 10:00PM. After we close, you’ll probably find us loitering around for drinks and bad ideas!

Dawn’s Blossom

You’ll be able to see us at the Dawn’s Blossom market on Tuesday the 17th of June! Our shop opens at 8:00PM Server Time, and closes at 10:00PM. We will likely linger long after we closed, probably in the inn!

:clapper: Introducing Movie Nights! :clapper:

Why must all the fun be locked to just World of Warcraft? The Edict is now introducing movie nights for guild members, where once a week we will vote on a movie to watch together, and I will personally rig it so they are all forced to watch Cats 2019 while I desperately try to explain how Cats 2019 is actually really good you just have to like ignore all the parts its bad and like Rebel and James Cordon were really bad casting choices you see but like- okay maybe okay listen hear me out how about we just watch Cats 1998 instead okay it’s great you just have to ignore-

Here’s looking forward to June’s adventures! Have a happy Pride, and we hope to see you around!

The Meridian Edict will be gathering in Orgrimmar tonight to attend the Orgrimmar market!

While we won’t have a stall open, we will be socialising! If you were curious about meeting us, this is a good time to! Approach us at your own pace, we don’t bite. Well, not if Wormfeed isn’t on but honestly I wouldn’t worry about it.
