Stall name:
Stall description:
Stall type: (Goods, Services, Mini-game or Workshop)
Hosted by:
Number of people running the stall:
OOC contact information: (in-game name or/and Discord)
In the stall description, please give an overview of the type of goods, services or activity that you’d like to organize. It’d be great if the stall focused on something specific (e.g, food, fashion, trinkets, literature, blacksmithing) instead of a broad range of themes, to give characters reason to browse the many different stalls.
Please keep the event setting in mind when planning your stall. For example, stalls focused on dark magic, deadly poisons, or faction propaganda won’t be suitable for this occasion. I’ll confirm your stall is approved or reach out if there are any questions. People may also reach out to me outside the forums about signing up to the market, and you’re welcome to check your stall idea with Acrona first if you’re unsure.
With three months to go, please mark the event on your calendar and let me know if your plans change. I’ll double check with everyone in January to confirm if you’re still planning to attend.
Here’s a map to give everyone an idea of where the activities will happen. I’ll assign the stall holders their stall spot closer to the event date, based on the type of stall and the number of people running it. The purple dots 13 and 14 are reserved for workshops or mini-games that require more space than a regular stall.
20:30 MOONBALL TOURNAMENT
Those eager for sports won’t be disappointed - the Moonball will be hosted once more! Join this sparkling dodgeball elimination game. Signing up to the tournament will open closer to the event. Max participants: 16
There will be a Cross-faction Community that enables inviting participants of the opposite faction to a raid group for OOC communication. While Moonball uses the Dazzling Rod toy as the gameplay mechanic and is required by the participants, In-Character the game does not deploy magic wands.
Game description:
Moonball is a Night Elven sport in which players hurl big balls at their opponent within a marked area.
Originally called Moonglow Ball Game and later shortened to simply Moonball, the game has been played at many festivals and town gatherings in Kalimdor.
The balls used in the game are coated with Moonglow which gives them their bright shimmer. They dazzle the opponent when hit.
The game usually involves many competitors and a number of matches. It’s commonly played as a tournament where players are eliminated each round. The number of players is ideally divided by four for an equal number of players in each round, but sometimes matches may be adjusted to accommodate an uneven number of players.
Rules
-
A match usually involves two players competing against each other, however in some cases there may be three people at once depending on the amount of participants and the time reserved for the game.
-
The players wait until the end of countdown before they start hurling moonballs at their opponent.
-
The players must stay within the marked area during the match.
-
When a player gets hit three times, they lose the match.
-
In cases where more than two players are involved in the match the last person standing moves on to the next round of the competition. To avoid confusion the players hit three times should leave the play area immediately.
-
Speed enhancing abilities, buffs and talents are forbidden.
First place prize: Half-body line drawing or shaded monochrome bust portrait (see examples) of your character of choice by Periastron

FRIDAY RAFFLE
The raffle will be organized following the Lantern Show, ensuring everyone has a chance to participate—even those running market stalls or other activities earlier in the evening. This event will conclude the night once the other activities have wrapped up, and might thus happen quite late at night.

Opening speech with some words on the previous night, and information on the evening’s activities.
20:00 THEATRE PLAY
Let the actors take you on a journey to the ancient past - more information to come closer to the event.
21:15 GUIDED DANCES
Revelers will be guided through a couple lively and easy-to-follow dances, with each step clearly instructed so that no prior practice is needed. Background music will be played via the Watch2Gether website to set the festive mood.
CAPS will be used to indicate specific emotes in the choreographies, such as: “One step forward! CLAP!” The dances are designed for pairs, and we’ll try match people without a partner! Dance partner roles are not gendered, so everyone can join in!
22:15 COSTUME CONTEST: WAR OF THE ANCIENTS
Dress up as a hero, villain, or demigod from the War of the Ancients! Whether you’re inspired by the legend of Lord Ravencrest, the bravery of Huln Highmountain, want to capture the terror of Archimonde, or embody the power of Aviana or the Aspects, there are many iconic figures to choose from.
A jury will select their top three costumes, and the audience will also have a chance to vote for their favorite!
SATURDAY RAFFLE
The raffle will be organized following the costume contest, ensuring everyone has a chance to participate—even those helping with other activities earlier in the evening. This event will conclude the night once the other activities have wrapped up, and might thus happen quite late at night.
Saturday raffle prizes:
- 1 half body drawing (examples) by Aka_gaallo
- 1 logo, crest or banner design (examples) by Escalusia
- 1 half body sketch with simple coloring (example) by Becky
- Some theme fitting items (pre-made artwork) by Acrona. These will be shared here when finished.
A person is eligible to win only one raffle prize during the two nights. No multiboxing, please!
Additionally on both days:
RED ENVELOPES
Gift friends and family a bright red envelope, containing a surprise inside—whether it’s a special item or coins to spend at the Lunar Market on Friday. This gesture symbolizes good fortune and well-wishes for the year ahead. Attendees may do this activity at any time on their own.
( Inspired by the Red Packets exchanged during Chinese New Year, these envelopes, while traditionally holding money, can contain surprise items as we see in the in-game celebration. If you’d like to give an in-game item, simply wrap it in red ribboned wrapping paper to create your own festive envelope! )
FOOD AND DRINK (Catering wanted!)
The the central building will serve as a lounge where food and drink are available for purchase. Given the setting, we’d kindly prefer night elf, tauren, or druids from other races to assist with this, with a menu fitting the local culture and occasion.
Update: Neutral pandaren characters are also welcome to fill this role. Given that the Lunar Festival, and the many event rewards, draw so much inspiration from the Chinese New Year and the Chinese aesthetic, I’d love to see pandaren included.
If you’re interested in helping, please reach out to Acrona!
MUSIC STREAM
Theme-fitting music will play on both evenings via Watch2Gether, to add another layer of immersion to the festivities. Expect some cheerful tunes for the market and tournaments, evocative melodies during the theater play, and groovy rhythms for the guided dancing. A link to the watch room will be shared as the event draws closer.
We kindly ask attendees to respect this being a neutral event, and consider the area guarded by Cenarion Circle NPCs. Please avoid igniting trouble that has a high risk of interrupting, or slowing down, the scheduled activities. Much time and effort is put into the event, and we hope it will go as smoothly as possible for everyone joining.
Thank you!
More information will be added in the weeks to come. It’s been 5 or 6 years since I last hosted a Lunar Festival in-game and I’m beyond excited as it has always been my favourite WoW holiday.
There is also a Story Night planned for Sunday 2 February by Cristana.
Recommended to bring with you:
- Elixir of Tongue for understanding the common language of the opposite faction with crossfaction roleplay in mind.
- Cross RP AddOn to view TRP profiles of the opposite faction.
- Listener AddOn to help keep track of a targeted player’s chat messages in a crowded area.
- Lunar Lantern or Festival Lantern companion for general atmosphere!
There will be a Cross-faction Community made for the duration of the event as well, for people to be able to contact each other OOC via /w regardless of faction, and to invite members of the opposite faction to a party/raid group where needed (such as for the Moonball tournament or market stall mini-games).
