Important Information:
Please pre-write your stories that you plan to tell, be mindful of others and make your story concise and not too long. Sign-ups will be done on the day, contact me for questions on this thread and lets have a fun time.
Happy holidays to everyone who’s going into the season.
Stories of what your character has been through has been a throughline of rp since the dawn. We all experience a lot of crazy, fantastic, drastic or incredible things, so it can be easy to lose your head abit and begin to devalue a great number of things.
That is to say, that a great number of people will also decide to not share stories that aren’t grand tales of victories, or harrowing defeats, because it simply seems mundane. I find that those stories can almost be as amazing as the others because quite frankly, they’re unique.
If your coming to this event, and your skittish about your story not being good enough, first of all you only get better by trying, and second, it’s not fair to fight yourself, you know all your worst weakpoints.
I’d like to thank Acrona for bumping this thread twice keeping it alive for me to potentially post because I admittedly, probably posted a bit too soon! But I wanted to get the word out early.
The Lunar Festival is a wonderful time of year and with this years hosted Lunar Festival being neutral, I believe this was the time to try and engage with the wider community.
Be aware that I have no hands in the making or dilligent work of Acrona who is hosting the days that lead up to this event, I will be hands on with this evening, I’ll be logging on early and take names for people who wish to tell a story so we can run a seamless and fluid night of storytelling.
I look forward to meeting you, hearing you and enjoy this moment of time with the server.
Thank you for organizing! It was lovely to see how many people came. While I could attend only for an hour or so, very much liked the stories and songs shared!
I’d like to thank all the people who came out to partake in the Storytelling, staying another day in Moonglade. Thank you to the speakers, Elerenai, Ilyadraeth, Lyla, Ronolieth, Charles Wortham and Hatir who gave us a large variety of stories and lessons.
I may do this another time, maybe a few times over the year, once I’ve figured out the logistics of that and the potential interest.
For what it’s worth, this was linked to from my own event’s opening post for 3 months, and also from the Carrd. Unfortunately there’s a limit to how many days I’m comfortable coordinating a festival of such scope as a whole. An activity like this easily takes an evening all by itself, so I’m glad Cristana made a separate event for it so that she can be the face of her own initiative, just like how some people organize their own Omen encounters outside the main festivities!
A good example of Design vs User Experience .
If the main website shows Friday&Saturday, people will expect Sunday to be empty. Wouldn’t it work if you were to add “Sunday” though with a mention it’s not organized by you?
I say ‘you’ but it’s more whomever does it next year.
I hope you can understand that I would still feel responsible for overseeing the event, as it would be connected to what I am personally organizing. Additionally, I would need to keep all related information updated across the forums, Carrd, and Argent Archives.
Many people may not read the details thoroughly or might forget, so even if I clarify that I am not the organizer, many would still associate it with the festivities I am hosting.** It’d be something more on my mind - how it’s handled, what if it gets cancelled, postponed, people approaching me with questions about it etc. I appreciate your understanding.
Edit: ** Speaking from experience, as many people tend to skim through information, given I’m often asked questions about events that are already clearly addressed in the event details.
It was lovely to be able to participate in this event! Storynights have such a relaxed atmosphere and it’s a joy hearing what kind of stories, songs and poems people have come up with.
Thank you for hosting and I certainly hope we will see more of these in the future!
When I saw early on that the lunar festival event wasn’t going to host something in this nature, I jumped on the opportunity to host something that not only interests me but compliments the entire weekend.
I was more then happy to be in charge of it, and thought many times that it’d be worth to clarify that while Acrona was supporting the idea, they were not in charge of it and shouldn’t be the point of responsibility.
While everything ended up going well, attaching your name to someone elses event is always a risk because Acrona would not be able to gurantee that the night would unfold in a manner befitting of them being a promoter of it. I already believe they did more then necessary which I’m grateful for.
The fact that I was able to do this, and that I relieved that stress from them is important.
