Name change service

Will there be a name change service added to classic tbc similar to retail?

I hope not. That would enable toxic players to hide from ignore.

Kinda hope there is, but also kinda hope not. It would hamper community policing… But I regret to this day what I named my druid

I am against name changes but you have been able to do it for free since launch anyway so doesn’t matter.

I would imagine they’ll be happy to introduce anything that existed in TBC, google suggests this was possible in 2007 but I honestly don’t remember.

I have no idea if they intend to make this possible in Classic TBC.

It would also enable player who regret their name to change it. So yea, i would welcome it.

Why choose name and then regret it?

In my case, it was due to transferring servers and my new server not having any of the names I usually use available, resulting in a rash name decision I ended up regretting…

<——————————-

I rolled this as a bank toon; then one day I was bored and decided to use rested up and kill some boars. I had dragonslayer buff and . All of a sudden I was lvl 10 and felt like a god coz I one shot everything.

Now I pretty much wait till I’m fully rested with dragonslayer buff and go out in the world oneshotting everything. But I’m still walking round with a ridiculously childish name which was never intended to be anything but a bank toon.

Hope that answers your questions?

Maybe a compromise down the lines of making it available… but with a very long cd attached (6-12 months) would work. Means the bottom of the barrel of wow society can’t constantly hide behind new names, but players with genuine reasons at least have the option…

I can see why you might want a different name

There is way to get a ingame name change by using the reporting system.
You need to have enough people to report your name and you will get flagged for name change.
I know alot has changed their name this way and there is a video where people troll asmongold and make him rename his warlock.

Yeah, back in Vanilla you could just ask a GM. If you had a decent enough reason, they would just change your name for you. Tried that in Classic, GM basically laughed in my face

In Classic it is an automated system. That’s why it is abused.

Sounds like the silence system in Retail.

Well, then think before naming your banking alts🙈

Boosting, Name change service… slipping on that slope pretty quickly

Yea, for now it is just 1 boost per account but it is only matter of time when they lift this restriction. This is worse then wow token imo.

Been saying this for a while now, even got my own thread on it (partly).
Paid name change service was added around 2007, October. Meaning during TBC.

Now they did not say anything about this (yet) and I have heared both Pros and Cons on it, but since it was in the game before, if I had to bet money, it will come.

Giving one quick example from each pov
Pro: Able to keep your name if you reroll your main from some (bank?) alt.
Con: People fear it will be abused. Someone ninja something and change name.

This is a topic I am Neutral on. I can only blame myself for naming my toons the way I did but there are a few alts I could maybe consider as my main main and having your old name from your main, without any silly symbols in it, would be nice. For me as main goes, it stands between two classes but I leave that part out here.

If it will be added or not, I’m happy either way tbh.

However, it would be good get any official confirmation on this before the pre-patch comes so you could plan your approach IF you would want/need that name chance for w/e reason.

Just level a new toon.
I have leveled multiple Hunters, rogues and mages during classes, geared them and had time to work 10 hours a day, maintain my impressive physique and kept my super hot girlfriends happy, all at once.

Stop being lazy.
