Name swap characters

Hi, I want to name swap my characters.

Does this mean I need to

1. Change a character name to random (1 use)
2. Swap the names (2 use)

Or is there a better way? Because I find using 3 name changes for just a name swap heavily overpriced.

Even with two name changes, that’s a very expensive switch!! Are you sure you want to do that for what I presume are two low-level characters?

I’d try making a support ticket explaining what you want to do and asking that one of your characters be “Flagged for Rename”.

When you are flagged for rename, the end of your characters’s name is changed to nonsense and you must change it to use it. It is commonly done when someone makes a character with an offensive name.

Then buy the change name service and change the other’s name. Then go to your character that gas been flagged and yake the name you want there.

Actually you would need to buy three name changes. Which is excessive.

Correct me if I’m wrong but couldn’t it be done with one name change? You delete one character, buy a name change and rename the other one, then restore previous one and because it’s name is already used it will be flagged for rename.

THAT sounds like the way to do it!

@Cedrad: I am not 100% sure about this, but I think the system will refuse to undelete the character and just display a name already in use sort of error as a reason for undeletion failure.

Hey, As the title says. I want to restore a druid, give it a make over and a name change but I can’t restore it because my Warlock has the same name. is there any work around or do I first have to buy a name change for my warlock, then let me restore my druid and then buy a name change for my druid in order to name change my warlock back to its original name?

Please get in touch with our Support team to help accommodate this. Do note that as part of this, they would still need you to purchase the Name Changes for each characer - all they would be able to help with is making sure you do not lock out either of the character names you want to swap around as you’re doing it.

Do not delete and then try to restore a character as others have suggested, you will not be able to undelete a character that has the same name as an active character and it will make it much harder for our Support team to assist you.

No, you were right but this appears to have changed relatively recently. Previously, when restoring a deleted character, if there was another character with the same name the character you restored would automatically be flagged for a name change. I guess that was considered a workaround the name change process and precipitated the recent change.
