Nameplate distance script broke in update

Hi!
The update today broke the nameplate distance changing variable, is this on purpose? Why then keep all other settings like camera distance etc? I really hope this isnt on purpose and that it just changed somehow because the game is 10x more fun with actual nameplates instead of 20yard nameplates thats useless while levling.

Yes, it will be on purpose.

Isn’t it the other way around? didn’t the patch today fix this script?

I completely understand wanting 40yards nameplates, I also play casters. I didn’t play vanilla so I can’t say for sure how it was back then, but quick google search told me it was only possible by changing game memory before - which is basically hacking.

Blizzard disabled the script, players found that it is still possible to exploit it using scientific notation, it got fixed.

#nochanges I guess.

I haven’t logged on today, they fixed it?
Well i’m a sad panda now.

The 20 yard nameplate destroyed PvP for me. I got attacked by several mages and their nameplate didnt show up . if i couldt see the mage with lesser health then i would attack him first and stand a chance… Blizzard did it again.Destroying all the fun of Classic …

This explains why hostile mobs that have same skin colour as the floor dismounted me …

Current distance is abysmal and cannot be same as original, or ?

This variable never worked since beta. This patch broke exploit which allowed to change this variable via unconventional means.

That comment makes no sense. 20y nameplates is authentic to Classic.

You are just terrible in pvp, thats it.
Short nameplates run in your favor too - when hiding behind a tree, mages can not see you far away with nameplates poping outside of the tree. They can not even target you without coming closer.
So git gut.

No it doesn’t run in my favor. 20yd is so bad for hunter especially when you get more yards in marksman tree. All i see is a buff to melee classes and a nerf to ranged especially hunter who wants to keep max range as much as possible. Oh and also people still can target people behind trees because there is an addon called Spy… unless that got patched aswell.

Range clsses already have a huge advantage in ability to shoot past 90% objects in the game with meeles have NO CHANCE to los you in most situations. Now you want 500 yards namplates so you can click meeles from the moon distance and shoot em ? lul

It should be 40 yards. 60 could be too much but 40 is about how far you can cast or shoot. You can still target people 60+ yds away without seeing them with Spy addon. This hotfix just ruined pvp for hunters and i assume most other ranged characters.

Vanilla nameplates were 20 yards, they are 20 yards now.
ā€œWe want vanilla, but please fix this, that and thixā€
Unlike other QOL mechanic, current nameplates distance affects pvp and must be set as it was. Deal with it

No how about you deal with it. Tons of people hate this change and want the increased nameplate distance, so blizzard might just increase it to 40.

it’s not a change, it’s a fix.
Nameplate distance has been fixed on beta, but went live somehow.

Good. Never used them myself. Hate them with a passion.

IMHO they should go in PvP all together.

Those 20 yards are exactly the range when a mob detects you once you run to it on same level range. I think that was the only purpose for pve atleast. For pvp it might be bad but can also be good later in bgs who knows

Oh thank Xe’ra! I can, again, hide behind rocks / hills when my group is being attacked!

ā€œCover for me! I have to heal from behind the treeā€

You can’t if they are using ā€œSpyā€ addon.

Click on the mob, your range spells change from red to white when they are in range. Or that could be my bartender addon.
