The nameplates need to be corrected, they are convenient in terms of display, but they have huge problems with clickability. We need to increase the clickability hitbox in the nameplates, because right now, when you click on the names, the target is not selected. It is very inconvenient to switch targets in dungeons, especially on a tank. Sometimes you try to select a different target 5 times while clicking, and in dungeons, it is critical to switch to two targets within 2 seconds. With this problem, you may not even notice that you could not switch because the click did not work. For example, when I’m on a blood tank and I want to grip a few long-range targets, it becomes very difficult because I can’t quickly select targets.
I would also like to add that when i pull 4-5 packs of mobs in the Meadery dungeon and choose to stack nameplates, the nameplates move across my screen from left to right in a column-like pattern. It becomes impossible to accurately track my mouse and select the correct target for single-target abilities.
If i disable stacking, the nameplates instead overlap each other, making it very difficult to see whats is happening behind them.
Additionally, losing aggro is currently indicated by a flame-like animation above the nameplate. It would be much clearer and more intuitive if the nameplate itself changed color to reflect aggro status. Visual style is important, but clarity in fast-paced situations is even more crucial. At the very least, please give us the option.
I sincerly hope this issue is addressed; otherwise, i will likely require addons again, and i would really prefer to play the game without them.
It makes me question the overall intent behind these changes if the game will still depend on addons to function smoothly.
This needs to be addressed. The stacking is insane. My target nameplate is miles away from the group.
100% agree the hit box for the nameplates need to be bigger. There are so many posts about this.
I just want to pile in and add 2 cents, that the nameplates are probably the most important UI Feature that needs to be good.
Consider giving players more control over the console variables associated. the way nameplates used the work- did work but it was one of the poorest features of the UI. At this point I think the visual aspect of A nameplate is more or less acceptable, huge step forward from retail baseline.
How ever, roll with the times. There are a few things these must include in my opinion:
- Threat color management.
- Differentiating colors between casters- normal mobs, and luitenants for either the border or the inside. (think like class colors for pvp, this is very valuable information and reduces cognitive load)
- Choice of where to anchor the target marker.
- Control over spacing/overlapping these
thank you for reading, I hope these are on the to do list or could be concidered.
and ofcourse I’m pretty sure stacking nameplates is not working as intend and the developers are aware. - but yes that needs some attention too
I need to check but I believe a recent interview they said that colour coding is seen as a combat advantage.
This disappointed me because that is a great feature to have.
yeah ofcourse it is, but if everyone gets it baseline- its just horrid having a pack of mobs and every frame is red, same size, same color, no abreviated names support.
Its unpleasant for the eyes and to sort through. Thankfully in pvp this is not the case- its very easy to see which target is which. and that takes off some cognative load and makes the overal experience more pleasant. Or atleast there is a checkbox to enable class colors. I think something similar should exist for mobs and their classification- so either distinguish between luitenant and elite mobs in dungeons or even between casters and melee aswell.
