For a long time now my pc has been performing worse than my husband’s pc. We run almost an identical setup, with my CPU being slightly better. For the rest they’re the same (maybe with the exception of my drivers being newer (since he never updates anything, like ever). We’ve seen this happen in for example World of Warcraft, Guild Wars 2 and Elder Scrolls Online. We know that these are all MMO’s which tend to be CPU bound. Customer support at GW2 was unable to get this resolved unfortunately.
For example in open world BfA zones I barely get over 30 FPS whilst he is running 80+, in LFR I actually went into a slideshow at some point. In Boralus I also barely scratch 30 FPS where he can go over 50+ easily.
We’ve compared the graphics settings ingame, as well as the nVidia Control Center settings (all the same). I can increase my FPS by completely disabling SSAO (boosts me back to ~60 in Boralus), but since my husband’s pc has it on High, I’m looking for a more permanent fix instead of lowering graphics.
Things I’ve tried so far, which resulted in pretty much no change whatsoever:
- Uninstalling nVidia driver (using Display Driver Uninstaller in Safe Mode) and installing both the most recent and an older one in separate attempts
- Changing Hyper Threading and C-States in BIOS to both enabled and disabled
- Reinstalling WoW on the SSD
- Reinstalling WoW on my HDD
- Disabling addons
- Virus and Spyware scans (no findings), defragging the SSD
- Uninstalled nVidia Geforce Experience (since it’s “Recommended” settings are higher than what I’m currently running
I also have recent dxdiag, CPU-Z and HijackThis logs, but since these are rather big, I don’t know if I can just post them here.
