Need Addon

Hi guys,

I need to find an addon that shows who healed for how much and who attack for how much. In floating text only my values come up - anybody know how to show floating text for healing and damage for the other players in the dungeons?

Try recount.

I have details, plus I don’t mean a metre but floating combat text.

MikScrollingCombatText is what you want. (:

Hmm not much a fan of the aesthetic plus does it show combat text for other players?

Eavesdrop as an alternative, more detailed, combat log and , as @Niv said - MikScrollingCombatText.
Yeah, astetically it sucks, but it is working a lot better than any other combat scroll text.
I use those two with combination of details to monitor healing done.

Ok great thanks for the reply much appreciated :metal:

You can change the animation curve, size etc. You can even import your own font and sounds to MSBT. (:

But no, it doesn’t show other people’s numbers. Imagine 40 people on a scrolling battle text, including aoe heals etc?

There’s no addon to show other people’s floating numbers.

In theory it’s possible to write an add-on that reads other people’s combat log events and anchors floating text to their nameplate frame, but it would be very memory intensive and extremely spammy on your screen.

Trust me, you don’t want that. It would look awful.

AFAIK you can’t mess with friendly nameplates in dungeons and raids.

The plates themselves, probably not. Tidyplates did fix it so friendly plates are now changed in dungeons iirc? I could be wrong.

In any case you should still be able to create a frame and anchor it to friendly plates. Failing that, anchoring other people’s damage to enemy plates. Anchoring a frame doesn’t change said frame, just uses it as a fixing point.

They forbade that because of addons which abused friendly nameplates to make encounters in Legion easier. I think that if it would be possible to just anchor your frame to nameplate, it wouldn’t fix anything. Anchoring damage to enemy plates might be possible, but limitation of 20 meters makes it not very useful for range DPS.

Like I said to the OP, the idea is daft

But yeah, TidyPlates Threat Plates (Classic) got friendly ones to work in dungeons, so I dunno what they’re doing differently. Clearly some modification is possible.

update So I just checked and it wasn’t until patch 7.2 that they added the instance restriction to the plates. Same for speech bubbles. Prior to that, my custom speech bubbles worked in dungeons.

While I’m fully aware classic is working on a retrofitted BfA engine, some of the ‘restrictions’ still seem to not apply. AddOns that make decisions for you, like the pre-nerf healbot, or draw custom elements on the game world, like that marker addon we saw in late BC, still don’t work. However, the restrictions on the friendly plates seem to be lifted.

That kind of addon would DC user in raids and probably even in 5m group.

How about for just myself? Who is healing me for how much etc?

if you use a damage meter addon like Skada you should be able to display healing done to you, with a breakdown of who healed you and for how much. You should also be able to create this in a separate window if you desire to see damage done next to it.

If you use Skada Classic you’ll need to download the icon pack in the comments and put it in a Interface/Icons directory.
