I’d say “Just DOT it” but I well know the struggle since the early days.
A mage won’t fail you, neither will a priest in pvp.
Take your time and roll both
My memories go back to the bridge in AV… such sweet kills by falling… a pure and true execution… the fear in the enemy eyes and the screams were noticeable even from far away while you’d make him jump a couple of times before the big leap into the snowy white beyond… I wasn’t a killer, the great god of the environment would decide your faith… I was just an emissary… I was a priest, a shadow priest.
You seem to have already made up your mind but i’ll give my two cents:
Shadow Priests are great in PvP and have a ton of utility but fully expect to be nuked as fast as possible.
In terms of WPvP Mages are monsters, if a Mage starts attacking you just take your hands off the keyboard because unless you have some way to deflect frost damage, break out of snares or survive long enough for diminishing returns to kick in you will not win.
both classes will be desirable on every type of content in classic.
One because it is THE healer while the other is THE control and THE Ranged damage dealer.
I think you’ll enjoy the mage class. I had the same struggle, but I started out with my Priest first. I got him to level 12 but just wasn’t having fun with him. So I swapped over to my Mage and now he’s level 21 and I’m loving it - such a fun class to play!
Think I’ll just be playing my Priest when I have rested exp, at least until I can do some dungeons.
