Hello!
As you can see from my very lovely cow face portrait, I have a main shaman.
I play it most of the time with my significant other, however when my partner is busy and I am not, I have little to nothing to do (already farmed all the flowers I have the patience for).
SO … I want an alt.
I am torn between a mage or a priest. My shaman is a healer, so I am more thinking about a shadow priest. (I can still heal dungeons tho)
I will not level it alot, only when I have the time …
so my main question: what is more fun to level slowly with? (aka to be stuck below 60 for a long while)
What class is better for world pvp?
General advice or opinions?
Thanks for the help
Priest = Healer PvE.
So if you hope to dps as a priest, it’s going to be hard
Hi, I am not thinking about any raids. Sure I can heal in dungeons, but I am more talking about the road to 60 and PvP. ^^
The mage is more of an in-your-face damage class, a glass cannon at that.
The priest is somewhat of a DoT class, also balanced around the fact that you can heal yourself, which is pretty useful. I don’t mind personally but the forums are full of topics saying that everybody rolling a priest is better going to be a healer, or they can hide in a corner full of shame.
On my realm, healers (and tanks) are in a slight demand.
Aha, shadow priests I’d say are better in PvP I believe than mages?
Though, it depends on whether you prefer DoT damage or damage outright.
Mage is more fun than priest even when it comes to leveling. Priest life basically applying shadow pain and then waiting and wanding
Mage allows you different way of leveling, you can do quest, dungeons or aoe farm.

Some people were all salty(on forums atleast, private servers not so much) about levelling to around 20ish, but that’s what I always recommend when people have two classes they cant pick between. Level both to around 20 and if you hate one its obvious

Roll a mage and aoe grind it to max lvl in 4 days /played.
I was afraid so. Since i will be leveling for a long time I am leaning toward the mage right now
Personally I’d say don’t follow the mage hype.
They are fun, and good in PvP but… I personally think Shadow priest is more fun. Just imagine the mind controlling the opposite faction off the boat from Ratchet to Booty bay!
Also they’re an easy class to solo content with while keeping mana up, which results in little to no downtime.
Also if you need something to do while your significant other is offline, i highly recommend fishing. It’s my favourite profession and it provides a lot of interesting catches and much more!

Priest = OP heal
Mage = OP everything
Both classes super are fun
If you want to heal in Classic, pick Priest and only Priest.
If dps - Mage, Rogue or Warrior.

I don’t know correct statistics, but on my realm (ZT)
I see a lot of priests around. Probably this is more popular class than mages. This is awful in my opinion, because more priests means more rivalry.

Its difficult to be sure.
Back in 2005 mages in PvP were just pompyro-ing it out, and they were pretty much a one trick pony. SP was a beast in PVP, good protection vs melee and those pesky blackout procs to scruew over any caster plan.
What supports priest so well in vanilla, is that once some gear is in place, fights 1v1 only last like 5-7 seconds. Priest have mostly instant or very short casttime stuff which is a great asset in such short duration fights.

I choose a MAGE. Mainly because I already have a healer class.
