WHY OH WHY back to this pile of )(&(^ the old loot system before you brought this ninja looting way of getting items worked perfectly !!! and you have wrecked the UI subscription cancelled and forget buying dragonflight that’s for sure you keep this going you’re going to lose a lot more players why did blizz ruin a perfectly good looting system and UI !!!
Old devs: Omg so much ninja looting drama, Let’s find a way to fix this!
Old devs: Oh waw, the ninja looting is way less now, good job guys! #HighFives
New devs: I got this great new idea, let’s implement group loot and need>greed!
New devs: Great job guys, it works! #ShoulderPat
It is definitely broken. It does not work well in raid finder. Last week a paladin in healing spec needed on a one-handed strength weapon which I really needed on my frost death knight. And he won the sword because he changed his main spec to protection in the loot specialization even thought he was playing Holy. Definitely not fair. I seem to lose all weapon rolls, except for one! Spread out over a lot of raid bosses with weapons. Like 1 out of 20.
Came here to rant about this stupid old system. Just killed 10 bosses and got nothing. 1 guy rolled need on a 265 piece and already had 294. I asked him why and said “for my friend”. This should not be possible. Bring back personal loot!
Sigh… Tell me … Did you make the same whine posts when people got an item from personal loot that wasn’t an upgrade and still didn’t trade them away?
So what you’re saying, like personal loot, an overgeared person entered to trade the gear he gets to his friend … But because it’s now group loot, it wrong to do so. But when he did it with personal loot it was just fine?
Terrible idea to change to this system. i’ve killed 31 bosses this week all fated and needed the gear, i only came away with one item, there were people needing who clearly did not need the item, rings and necks impossible to get now. STOP trying to fix something that is not broken
I have cleared all the LFR with my alt and didn’t get any loot. What a rewarding system to kill over 30 bosses and don’t get any loot even item I had need roll 100 was not awarded due to other guy with rolled same but his name was first Alphabetically
Need or greed ability in lfr. This was a good way to kill that experience. First 45 min que if you have unluck, and then its not 100 % you get all bosses on that wing, one or two bosses can alredy be killed so you need a new 45 min q after. And then this need or greed loot system where a lot of ppl just needs to sell or give away. It doesnt matter if it is a non upgrade. It gives gold. lfr is alredy to timeconsuming ,and this loot system- for me personal im out . If i go lfr i want at least have a chanse on a item without to bring a full guildrun that can roll for my case.
Him getting it as personal loot and trading it doesn’t take anything away from the others in that group, they still get a chance of getting it themselves via personal loot.
Him rolling for something he doesn’t need to give it away means the odds of that friend getting that item is increased since there’s 2 people rolling for it and also takes away from anyone else rolling for it that also needs it.
It’s tipping the odds in favour of the people with friends in a group.
With personal loot everyones odds were equal, you get an item or you don’t
Even in organized community raids we’ve been told we’re getting benched if we off spec toll need when we’re not doing the raid a solid(IE, healing when usually dps as we’re short healers).
It’s rude.
Everything you said is just false. For a brain exercise I recommend you trying to figure out why your logic is so terrible. I promise you, it’s actually something you really want to learn.
Haha that’s the debate equivalent of “Do your research” which means you got nothing at all.
1 item in a pool.
3 people roll for it with equal chance.
You have a 1/3 chance to win, if your friend is rolling it with intent to trade that then makes it 2/3.
Sure it’s false… i recommend you go back to school mr troll.
Ooooo already typing you took that bait real quick…
Ok can you now do the math for personal loot?
It’s 1/1 you get an item or you don’t.
The difference being where the “Pool” is.
The “Pool” in this case isn’t shared, me getting an item doesn’t take from anyone else.
The “Pool” in the open means if i win with my increased odds that directly takes from someone else.
??? in personal loot there is 1 loot that is assigned to one of you randomly. So the other guy still has 2/3 chance to get it. You still have 1/3 chance to get it.
It’s not about the maths with personal loot that’s the point!
With personal loot me getting an item doesn’t affect the odds of someone else getting theirs!
With open loot it does.
For example and i will exaggerate for emphasis.
“Personal loot”
There’s 20 people in the raid.
19 people are rolling to help a friend get geared up - The Boss Dies.
My chances of getting loot are still 1/1 and so is everyone else, whether they trade is their choice or not but the odds are equal.
“Group Loot”
Same scenario.
I now have to roll against the other 19 people - the odds of me winning go from 1/1 to 1/19.
Now do you get it?
1/1 means you are guaranteed to get loot. Are you guaranteed to get loot with personal loot?
So every single time boss dies, you get loot? Is that so? If not try to think about your logic again.
i meant 1/2 and you knew that but the fact you’re just purposely avoiding the point and just deep diving the maths which is just a tool and not the main point.
Means you’re not really looking for discussion just trolling.
No its 1/20. Because there is 20 players and with your 1 loot only chance to drop it will be randomly assigned to one of you.
I understand that they don’t teach these things in elementary school, they really should, but it’s important that you understand how this works.
Still ignoring the point i see.
But keep going on.
The fact you use “Elementary school” and avoid the actual point says to me you’re likely an American who got lost.
Run on home now.
The fact you stated yourself it’s 1/20 means you’re close to getting it but not quite there.
You get personal loot no one takes it from you regardless of the odds.
Group loot means they can roll against you and take it before it’s even yours at increased odds.
Now do you get it?
