Why is it after the Blackwing lair phase
Most of you quit ? Like population numbers plummet.
AQ20/40 not fun ? Nothing to do ?
I’m asking because the same people who usually quit then demand for fresh servers a year later. What makes you not stick around ?
Silly answer: they are alliance, they enjoy quick travel to the volcano but man, AQ is really far. (By the way, seriously.)
Observation 1: Most people asking for fresh are in a rush to beat certain goals, be it getting those epix or being realm first, guild first, friends circle first, better timer, what have you. Once you are done with MC, the game is just a threadmill.
Observation 2: Many people actually like the mix of questing, dungeons, the varying activities. Once you get to the raiding phase it’s eventually one dimensional. Also with the populace growing to farm the last zones, it’s also rather unfun to do anything. BC solved the matter by adding heroic dungeons, daily quests, and an extra bit of PvP fun. Plus, with the majority moving to Outland, old world is there if you want to take it, except dungeons.
Solutions would be adding extra content for 60 to spread the population, or - excuse me - level scaling. You could farm any zone for fun, you could enter any dungeon for relevant fun and loot, and so on. SoD did the former and I hear it kind of worked.
I am prob not the targeted demographic, since its pve and i like pvp more.
But what throws me off abit, is the resistance gear required. I havent played vanilla in a few years, so maybe the resistance thing is no more. I just cba farming resistance gear, i want to be able to use previous phase “bis”, for this phase (bwl gear into aq for instance).
They did something similar in SoD, they had fire res gear requirements for mc. They stopped doing that after mc, who knows why though, one can only speculate.
I think that’s sensible - and a probable answer for your SoD question.
It’s a nice puzzle to figure out the optimum amount of resistance gear, but the caveat is, it defeats the point of farming gear.
Also, WoW is a bit limited in terms of storage and sharing gear (in GW2 high end gear is account bound, some of it even stat changeable), so it can be a struggle to obtain and keep them all.
Considering most of my friend list has disappeared from Classic but there are many people clearly new to it in the 30s-40s (levels), the target demographic is probably a lot more casual.
Which reminds me of another point, I noticed a lot of guilds have crashed, split and all else. Another reason for mass exodus after the first few tiers might be the difficulty to maintain guilds. GW2 had its own troubles. Classic-2025 is definitely kept afloat by the LFG tool. Does it help the very end game, though? => If not, again, the game might fail after 60.
For me personally, there’s just nothing to do in game anymore. I don’t play alts. I got my prebis, then R14. I can’t do the T0.5 questline because Magisters boots are still locked behind impossible to summon boss until p5, and by then nobody will do it anymore. I can’t advertise my enchanting or boosting runs or I may get banned.
Now I will only play for 2h a week in AQ then 4h a week in Naxx, and if my guild is defeated by the roster boss, I won’t even bother looking for new, just unsub til tbc prepatch. I think this is my last time playing vanilla, it’s very hard to find any positives in it anymore.
It’s very fun time.
No? I didn’t quit. My guild is active. It’s summer so some people naturally take breaks for dachas and sea trips, but generally it’s good enough.
I never played AQ, so no idea if it’s fun. But currently game is filled with activities for my two characters. Between MC, Ony, BWL, ZG, gold farm, rank farm I hardly have time to level my third character. It’s so intensive. Classic endgame is awesome. Nothing compared to it in later addons and I played them all.
Most honest reply is… AQ40 have toxic trash to deal with it, no one is runing frost weapond and enchants, no one wants to run nature resi pot and elixir , healers r trash… Ctun beam… oh boy!
This is also correct, aq40 is not fun at all, not on progression and especially not on farm. Tunnel of AFK after emps anyone?
In fact, almost every boss and trash in there is like “that part” of the game in some way or another. Killing mc guy on prophet, who to kill last on bugs, palas fail stuns on the ww boss, tunnel of summon me was getting water, who brought their NR set?, frost damage and lbrs poison farm, twin watching threat meter is hard, tunnel of 5 min afk sorry, and eye beam. Horrid experience tbh.
