Wowhead and Icy veins recommend to take nether tempest.
nost just for aoe but for single target as well.
I d like to see feedback / opinions on this.
( Im new to arcane mage )
Maybe I do something wrong, but this spell not doing much to me.
Why worth to take it for aoe and for single target ?
the primary use of nether tempest is to trigger arcane echo (another talent) several times during touch of the magi. outside of totm windows you don’t use it on single target, but on multiple targets it’s worth maintaining for the damage alone. only cast it on 4 arcane charges though, as it snapshots the damage bonus.
If would help if the dudes from those sites could provide spreadsheet for dps with and without it tempest. Because even for trigger echo, the tic rate “seems” to be too slow to really make a difference in dps.
okay, so let’s say we ignore the massive 3.6% dps loss. what do you suggest as an alternative point on a ST encounter? it’s the only path to touch of the magi, unless you suggest taking arcane cleave (useless on ST) or improved prismatic barrier (dead talent)
Gotta love how half the argument in favour of nether tempest is “well the next talent is mandatory, and it’s not like there’s any other path available.”
The forced path-structure for through weak-mediocre talents to reach the good stuff was a mistake…
Nah, then. Im fine with sweaty rotation, but the sweat should bring at least 5 to 10% dps increase. This 4% just not worth an another button or gcd to press, for me. Especially for mythic+, id better go for radiant spark and no echo. But thx for info, and an opinion.
it’s not half the argument, it’s me playing devil’s advocate. you’d probably lose less dps unequipping a piece of gear than not running NT. it’s one of the stronger talents on the tree, and actually interesting since it changes your rotation instead of being a boring passive.
interesting line of thinking if pressing NT every 45 seconds significantly changes the sweatiness level of your rotation. you do you though, just be aware that you’re shooting yourself in the foot.
After what I learned here, I belive in Glowie.
I understand Nether tempest better, and i ll pick that talent.
It seems interesting , and it looks cool as well.
( " it’s one of the stronger talents on the tree, and actually interesting since it changes your rotation instead of being a boring passive. " ) << this !
Nah, it opposite. Guide on altered time said i must shot myself in the foot for better rotation, and im fine with it if boost to damage is noticeable, but 5% is just worthless for random puging. I suppose of high-end loggers, doing 20-25 keys it worth, tho.
