When I search for the Black Qiraji tank in the mount tab it has been removed, presumably because it is unobtainable. Yet when I search for the netherwhelp pet it appears and says is available through TBC collectors edition.
I have found out, after unsealing a very expensive and now worthless item, that Blizzard won’t redeem these codes anymore. Why is it still in the pet tab if its unobtainable?
I really think this should be reconsidered, I am happy to pay an employee to verify my item
Yep, ticketed and told they wont redeem it anymore and thats it, end of discussion. Really unhappy about this whole situation.
Spent a lot of money on it and had no reason to search for an obscure post about it not being redeemed anymore, especially as all the others are redeemable.
If it was an item from an ingame event that I literally cant do then I’d understand, but this one it from something that can still be claimed. they have just stopped the redemption of the codes but not made it clear in the pet journal.
People have no reason to believe its not still available, especially as the other collectors edition pets are available and they are still redeemable
I mean yes and no. Considering what redeeming TBC meant I didn’t expect them to do it forever.
In my opinion they should put the pet on the store. It has been 15 years, and despite the inevitable screeching complaining from some who have it, it’s better to give it to players at a nominal fee (which also serves as a nice income) instead of having them buy stuff at ridiculous prices from shady dealers on ebay and then blame Blizzard.
The issue with a collectors edition is that its something people keep for a long time in order to resell. If Blizzard sells collectors items and the game is still operating, I think they need to honor the item, whether its bought through ebay or its been in the loft for 15 years
The problem is to prove you own it, which due to having the wrong codes they had to have the physical code sent to them via mail and dealing with it manually.
This is the part where I have to remind the cold hard facts, Blizzard is a business company, in the most capitalist country no less. They stopped selling those CEs years ago, it’s reasonable to assume anyone who purchased it from a retailer and wanted to redeem has done it by now. The remaining codes are just being resold for someone else’s profit which doesn’t concern Blizzard. So in an evaluation of having to deal with more incoming codes manually vs having to deal with a few angry people every year they chose the latter.
OK, sure, forget morals and ethics and all that fuzzy-wuzzy Kum-ba-ya s…, er, stuff. Still, you really should think about what you just said.
One of a company’s most valuable assets is its reputation, its brand.
If Blizzard is known for breaking its promises about maintaining the value of collectibles, its brand takes a hit. Who is going to buy future collectibles from someone who is known to betray them?
“The thing is that Mr. Dibbler can even sell sausages to people who have bought them off him before.”
It’s not just pets either. I have Zandalar Tribe reputation in my reputations tab despite the fact that it isn’t even in the game anymore. It’s rather annoying.
