It was a horrible decision and made the world unplayable. Never ever do it again.
and even more
PvE servers exist for this very issue…
no. it was a really bad idea in 2019 as it lead to most servers becoming essentially single faction from being somewhat balanced. It was only 1 week this time and there is only 1 classic realm atm so the damage is much smaller. Still a really bad idea for future classic
We can agree to disagree
disagree with what. this type of pvp system literally turned most pvp realms into effectively single faction pve realms in all but name
We’re not playing on 2019 realms…we’re playing on 2024 anniversary realms. I dont believe the PvP realm will become single faction; so not really sure what you’re trying to point out?
maybe you should read the thread before you respond then
I did…why would OP make a comment on realms released 6 years ago? He’s clearly commenting on the last week where PvP (world) has caused issues…so I responded that PvE servers exist for those that don’t like world PvP. Aint rocket science buddy.
his comment is about the future, not anniversary realms. aint rocket science, kid
For delayed ranking? The problem isn’t that world pvp exists, the problem is that the honor system released before bg’s exist.
It was fun week. Keep doing it please.
Blizzard too mentioned 2019 Classic. They specifically said they had learned something from that. It was chaos, and this time around, they would reduce that chaos to just one week. Last time, it was a month, and it destroyed servers and people quit. There is a fine line between fun and unfun, and even PvP can become seriously unfun if you have zero chance because your character is 10 levels below the gankers. Even the best PvPer can’t win then. The game in 2019 was unplayable for those below level 55 in many zones, and so it was this year. I agree with OP—I hope Blizzard next round doesn’t even allow one week of this flawed excuse for “world PvP.”
If they did the result would have been the same as in 2019. Monofaction servers. All PvP servers ended monofaction and in reality PvE. How fun is that?
I mean keep doing it with new fresh servers.
Keeping it this way would be absurd, but one week is OK.
The only thing that I missed is huge fights between multiple raids. I didn’t encounter any despite the fact that I spent quite a bit of time in the raids of different size. I think that layers are to blame.
I understand the frustration that people have over inability to quest or farm in open world. But keep in mind that it is an attempt to recreate vanilla gameplay and timeline. Patch 1.4 added PvP Honor System and path 1.5 added battlegrounds. Just removing this phase, even shortened to one week would not be true to classic origins.
It is impossible to recreate Vanilla gameplay as the difference in mentality of the players is huge between Vanilla and Classic.
Even guilds in Vanilla openly created on the principle of being toxic in pvp, camping, ganking, greykill etc, did not have this level of degeneration and in addition the reputation of players on a server had a real impact.
What blizzard does is not an attempt to recreate vanilla gameplay or its timeline, it’s just once again proof of their incompetence, that for the anniversary of the 20 years of WoW he was not able to make a real Classic+ (SoD has the level of a Skyrim mod made by a high school student, this is not Classic+) despite the still colossal benefits that Classic and Retail game brings.
Vanilla’s timeline doesn’t need to be recreated, we’re not in 2005, the mass of players who wanted to return to WoW Classic, were not there to rush the content, farm and grind as hard, be pre-BiS as quickly as possible to start Raids for fear of missing one reset…
Nor did they want to be guided by addons that tell them what to do and where to press button constantly, buy gold and boosts, sell their services as if the game were a giant black market… Why do you think a lot of the players who come for Classic leave along the way even before the lvl60? The modern community disgusts them and they do not manage to have fun on a game controlled by a mafia of players/Bots who even if not having the same objectives have the same level of repel for a lambda player.
Its part of a pvp server, just bc ppl didnt like doesnt mean it wont happen again.
If your against that then dont play pvp its simple rly.
You mean theres is only one megaserver
The sheer amount of ppl on that server is probably x5 more than a standard server so its a lot more its probably why the pvp gank fest was so bad
