1st - Creating such channel would de-facto mean that Blizzard is taking the booster’s side. I woun’t call it a war or anything. But the term “boosting” is extremely grey. There are anti-booster players who mass report any boosts and fanatically try to get boosters to be insta-banned. And pro-boosters who defend it as any legitimate service.
Blizz is so far tried its hardest to be in the neutral zone(debatable ofc). So creating that channel would stir up a public outrage(the anti-boosters) for taking sides.
2nd - Who said boosters will actually use that channel? I am no professional in marketing and stuff, but when you advertise something. You try to do it in the middle of the crowd so everyone can see it…not in the middle of a desert.
They won’t go to a channel where nobody uses it. People who are interested in boosts wont go joining some special channel(which they might not even know it exists). Hence trade is best. Cause everyone is automatically there(and must use addons/leave channel to get out of it). When you advertise for a product. You need to go to the client…not expect the client to come to you.
Silence boost advertisements which are done in any place other than this new boosting channel so that they would use it.
Well, yeah. However there should be limits. For example when im in a shopping center, people inside the shops never go out and yell what produts they have to offer. Instead, I go into the shop if I’m aiming to buy something.
I genuinely dont give a toss whether or not someone pays for boosts. Hell I’ve bought a mount boost if I had the gold but not the time to do that tier but I absolutely cannot stand the current system adopted by the playerbase in regards to group finder.
I think its more of a must that boosters either use solely trade chat or use a boosting channel of some sort.
However I do not believe that they should modify group finder to have a seperate tab for people to sell boosts on as group finder is not the place to sell items, Trade Chat is.
I’d dig a separate boost tab or something so I could browse boosters, but I know there probably won’t be one. If there was, it would sadly make some types of people think that boosts are Blizzard-monitored. The entire channel would have to have some annoying pop-up or something to warn people that boosts should only be for gold, don’t let the bad internet strangers lure you to an outside platform where Captain Blizzard cannot protect you and so on. An explanation on what on earth boosting even is would also be required. Why? Newcomers who just bought the game and used a levelboost might click on the finder and have no clue, maybe even sign up without realising what they’re doing.
Boosters will just have to settle for tradechat, since they’re selling something. And maybe the reputation would improve if the more commonly known “boost communities” didn’t also force their message around chat filter addons by typing goldseller-level garbled nonsense. I ain’t buying it anyway, that’s why I added all boosting ad words to BadBoy’s list. No amount of changing the o’s to zeros will change my mind - I’ll turn the filter off if I want to, but if I have it on, forcing the boost ad through just makes me add that community to the list of ones I’d never buy from.
Blizzard do not like dealing with these kinds of things and right now they do not have to deal with it, because everything is legit. If we put boosters in different channel, then Blizz would have to enforce it, because boosters will not like to be in channel where everyone can cut connections with them so easily.
Why not simply give them a spam lock like only texting in trade chat once and then like 1-5 min again. since YOU don’t need to spam every 1-3 second.
It’s just a Trade chat not a spam chat and they wont sell less.
