Bard is such a dull class. Give us something exciting.
I’ve always felt that bards are extremely out of place as a class in wow
I love the bard class in Everquest 1. It works well as solo and in grps. I rather not see a ff14 bard. Bards in Everquest 1 wear mails and got aoe songs of both healing and damage, off course more than that but I can see a similar class make sense for WoW.
I would love a range dps who had small guns , one in each hand. Call it a duelist or something else. A more sheriff/cowboy class with totally different setup than a hunter
Yeah Bards in EQ rocked. They were invaluable in a group but actually very competent soloists are well as they could use their songs to charm creatures to fight for them, or quad kite several mobs at range whilst you rotted them with your songs. There’s nothing in the Bars concept that says it MUST only work in a group, merely that it shines best in one (similar to the rogue, after all rogues work far better in groups as it gives them the ability to exploit the positional requirements on their skills but nobody would say rogues shouldn’t be able to solo).
Could wear mail, in much other fantasy media bards wear mail (they did in EQ)
I’d say three specs: melee damage dealer focused on swordplay and theatrical melee, a ranged damage dealer focused on dirges, and a healer focused on proactive healing and healing over time (including plenty of buffs).
For me the next class needs to be mail and it’s either Bard or tinker as likely candidates, as tinker covers the “guns and gadgets” gap and can basically do a lot of what people want from an “artillery” class or gun class but can also be utilised as a healer or rank due to their gadgets (and also have precedent in the lore).
Probably because there are too many different races with too different cultures. Unless every race has its own animations and style I don’t see how you could find something that works for gnomes, elves, tauren, orcs, trolls, worgen, forsaken, draenei, Pandaren and goblins all together
Unless it’s something silly like them just playing e-guitar.
The problem with this concept is that this spec is between the hunter and the rogue, so it’s hardly going to happen.
It’s a issue that spawns from vanilla. Classes have been sort of inspired by d&d, but too many got baked into specs of a single class, limiting the end options. Like the barbarian which is pretty much the fury warrior, so a spec instead of a class, or the ranger that is what surv hunter should be, again a spec and not a class on its own.
Bard of those class concept ideas is the only real option left because the necromancer in the end it’s halfway between a demo lock and an unholy dk, so it will overlap with them, but the bard as a concept as already said by others, should be a support class and support classes do not work in the current game. the support will either be negligible or mandatory, depending on who powerful it is, plus the balancing issue of the solo gameplay.
I think they should get rid of specs and make them into classes. I made a post about it.
It require a lot of rework and some classes and specs might need to be replaced by something different but I would love to see specs eliminated and more class introduced
should be a rogue spec imho.
Imagine a bard’s lyre tunes accompanying a raid, getting more dissonant with every raid member that dies until the tune finally ends in a smashed harp or guitar sound when the bard dies.
I think too that bard would be out of place, however, for me necromancers or even witch doctors would be cool! Witch doctors could be cloth wearers or I think even mail depends on their design… they could be using da spirits from da other side! to heal or dmg whatever, or if we go from the plague side potions can be made little oozlings could heal and other gu whatever
Little slimes are cute in game anyway
What we need is another ranged class that can tank. Only boomie can have tank off-spec, which is very sad.
A few class choices could be but of course if they did having to keep in mind of pre-existing classes / armor types.
On a side note if they do have to make another class, they should try for once to make a class universal to races. Like DK, which probably means we can scratch off on the initial look atleast alot of classes like Witch doctor, Primalist, any class which is basically close to a clone / spec of a pre-existing class or only belongs to one race.
So classes we probably wont see just based on current existing classes? Gladiator, ranger, barbarian, fighter, Spirit walker, necromancer, Shadow hunter, ninja. they’d all be a figurative 4th spec of pre-existing classes or have abilities / themed abilities as a nod to these classes at best.
Artificer and Bard seem to be two good candidates for a new class, both unique and both are in their own right different and not completely just being a “profession” themed class too since I know “engineer” and a “alchemist” themed class is spat out and thrown around fairly often.
Spell breaker could be on the table potentially even though it sounds like a warrior spec or a dk 2.0, it also better not be race specific or atleast not grossly limited like DH and paladin / shaman are since it would be nice for most players to be able to play the race of choice while playing it.
After 15 yrs it’s not going to happen. It will be easier to create a new game from scratch, balancing will be a nightmare. Imagine have to balance a class that has to be tank/heal/and dps at the same time, without being able to separate roles and spells via a spec.
Which existing class’s extra spec would be the witch doctor? It’s not a priest nor warlock imo…
Shaman subclass?
Thi’ could fly as a mage or priest subcalss
Bars could work as a spec.
Tbh blizzard giving every “pure dps spec” an actual tank or healing off spec would be hugely welcomed IMO.
So they don’t feel left out, the other classes would also possibly get new additional dps specs.
So like Bard is a rogue healing spec
Chronomancer is a mage healing spec
Survival becomes the hunter tank spec and “current survival” becomes the “Ranger” spec.
Shaman get a fourth tank spec.
Priests get a true holy dps spec
Warriors get a one handed wep and shield dps spec
Warlocks get a tanking Demoniac spec
Monks get a fourth ranged dps spec focused on chi blasts
Paladins get a hybrid melee ranged dps spec that dual wields
Death knight and demon Hunter I’m at a loss. I mean DH could get a ranged spec but what I don’t know.
it was an April Fool on 2008
at least in those days something funny was created
While many of these ideas are cool, I think WoW is way too long in the tooth now for any real shake up of the classes.
In fact, I am going to argue that the game has too many specs, that specs themselves are a leftover of how the game was originally designed and is a design flaw they can’t get rid of now. In truth, no class should have two specs of the same role as that just leads to one spec or the other always being flavour of the month.
If they ever did a WoW2 (which would be a blank slate not beholden to the past) I would expect the classes to be very, very different to what they are now. As an example, I would think that rather than give Mages three distinct specs separated by our magic school, they’d give us one DPS role using all three magic schools and use the time skip between wow 1 and wow 2 to explain why this is now the case. Maybe give Mages that chronomancer healing spec as a balance. Each class would have one dps spec minimum, and then a tank spec, healing spec, or a different type of dps spec (ranged and melee are different enough to justify having on one class).
Dunno tbh, as I think of the witch doctors that Diablo III has that one is more like what we had on Kul Tiras at one point during the story but more mojo and less void stuff.
I could imagine a class working with potions tbh, but no idea how would that work
