Great idea, let’s kill the game more.
ohh a real faction based class would be fun to see.
would need a more exciting name than soldier but the concept is fun, would deffo love to see that!!
it sounds like a support class that isn’t a healer, more of an enabler which would definitely be a different style of play and offer a different group comp.
New class?
Well I’m not interested in any new classes.
More particular in lore accurate classes.
Like the ranger.
Yes I will get a lot of negative comments on ranger.
People saying, it’s already in-game hunter!
No a hunter is a hunter and not a ranger.
As wel all know from the lore.
Rangers are stealthy ranged and melee fighters.
Without any pets.
Here’s how imagine rangers.
a class with the ability to go in stealth but much like the hunter’s camouflage ability.
Unable to be spotted when standing still but vaguely visible while moving.
Having both melee and ranged weapons equipped at the same time, just like hunters did before.
Having a minimum range requirement in order to use their bow.
if the target gets to close you will automatically switch to melee.
With a strong melee focus of incapacitating your target. ( stunning, dazing etc ) in order for you to regain distance in order to use your stronger weapon type.
I know it all sounds too much like hunters.
But hey! Dk’s are paladins that use dark magic.
Warlocks are mages and priests with dark magic.
It’s come to a point where the announcement of a new class would make me sad. Blizzard is already having a hard time balancing the current specs as is.
i would balance it around resources when you can do some heavy hitting abilities even on melee by your spears, but these abilities should be not worthy for dps, design them around much higher cost. One spec should be designed around physical (piercing) dmg and the another around magic dmg, I can imagine realy intersting questline around it, about your main choice, what are you prefering to be and get some kind of symbolic reward for it.
the game realy needs some kind of ranged dps…
Sorry this post got way bigger than I thought.
But you raised some genuinely good questions and flaws that would give developers a headache.
Particularly how to show someone how good a job they did, reminds me of league of legends, outside of assists there’s no real way of knowing if a support really did a good job it is difficult!
But yeah I seem to recall shamans were enablers for a time, and the removal of such things must fall into like with what you mentioned.
/dreams crushed
4th hunter spec then? To be honest I would love to play it, even with Lone wolf MM doesn’t feel the same as an elven ranger. I specially like the switch between melee and ranged, which I have to a certain extent with survival, but in a very limited way.
Not at all, sunwalkers don’t fit the traditional paladin look but that doesn’t mean taurens can’t be paladins. Besides like I said, one spec could be based off gnomes and goblins and another of draenei and blood elves. One doesn’t have to exclude the other. There is enough material I think to build three distinct specs.
A mecha suit spec for tanks
A turret kinda spec based on gnomes and goblins
A magic construct spec based on blood elves and draenei (also lightforged and nightborne)
we had a 4th spec (of a sort),but you took it off us,’;.;’
It actually works that way with shaman totems, each race has a totem that fits their lore. Similar with druid forms too, where trolls turn into a bat for flight form and new allied races getting completely unique druid forms.
Yes, I am aware… But so far that’s as far as Blizz has ever bothered going to show the uniqueness of the races in the game…
Take priests for example… They aren’t priests of the same religion, yet the spell effects look like they’re all preaching the Holy Light.
Night Elves worship Elune the Moon Goddess, Trolls worship the Loa and Tauren are basically Sun worshipers.
Yet all have the exact same “look” to their spells.
That’s why I don’t think Blizz would bother to change spell effects for a hypothetical Tinker class.
Maybe if they exclusively used small turrets and robots we could see the differences, with Gnomes/Goblins/Mechagnomes/Vulpera?/Dark Irons? using crude technology, while the Draenei used crystals and the Blood Elves used magical constructs.
Back in my day things were different. No, seriously. Priests for example, even had different spells depending on their race in classic and TBC (no idea how it was after that or at which point those were removed though, since I stopped playing before WotLK). Though they are still bothering to work on those details to keep things unique (like shaman totems or druid forms), so I won’t give up hope on seeing more unique visual effects in the future.
Not that I disagree with you, having different spells for each race might cause balance issues, but at least those spells should have different visual effects depending on the race. Take paladins for example. All of them are paladins in terms of gameplay, but only humans and dwarves are “paladins” in the traditional sense, while draenei paladins are vindicators, blood elf paladins are blood knights, tauren paladins are sunwalkers, all of which have distinct philosophy and values, and follow their own teachings. Same with shamans, where orcs are “shamans” while troll shamans are witch doctors and tauren shamans are spirit walkers (I don’t know if dwarf or draenei shamans have their official names, but it’s pretty obvious that their values are different than those of orc shamans as well).
I know, I played back in classic as well. On the Alliance side, Dwarf priests were favored because of Fear Ward.
Only one I remember though, as I can’t recall what the other races had.
Yeh I meant spell visual effects. Would give the different races some “identity” and making them feel a bit unique.
I’d like an illusionist, that summon ephemereal clones of various warriors, including of herself, and can swap places between any party member and one of the clones, can create illusion walls, create the illusion of a prison around an enemy for a time, summon phantom blades to fight for her, and things like that. It would be a clothie with melee capability, and her spells would be air, mind and earth (dust) based.
You know, Dragonsworn would actually have some basis on WoW RPG lore, like some other classes and concepts that have been brought into the present-day WoW.
For example, Runemaster was baked into DK, Monk and DH and Necromancer was baked into Warlock and DK. In addition we have Runecasters all over Vrykul places.
I think Dragonsworn would be lovely if the dragons were to regain their powers. Likely a melee-caster hybrid spec with abilities tied to the dragonflights: Healing powers from the Red Dragonflight, CC from the Bronze Dragonflight (time lock, anyone?!), destructive abilities from the Blue and Black Dragonflights!
(EDIT:
You know, thinking about it, Shaman are the only class that’s able to have a divide between melee and caster gameplay within the same class. Dragonsworn would share that gameplay niche.)
Also, small point about dark rangers:
Problem is, Dark Rangers would’ve been implemented in BfA if they were to be added. Blizzard follows a theme with their race/class implementations where they’re tied to the expansion content. DHs in Legion, Monks in MoP, DKs in WotLK…
It’s highly unlikely for Dark Rangers to fit an expansion that isn’t all about the Forsaken.
Edit/repost:
Forums are doing their usual bull droppings by defaulting to an alt I’m leveling on the side. Who was the genius who thought tying player stats to characters on the forums would be a good idea, let alone forcing a change of alt depending on who you played last?
New class BLADEMASTER.
Races that can be blade masters: Draenai, orc(because I only saw this 2 races ever having a blademaster, one draenai guy on Argus was a blade master)
Armor type: leather
Weapon type: Polearms, Two handed swords or Axes.
Specs:
Firemaster. High damage spec with lots of damage buffs for its attacks, low dependency on stealth and more on its sword skill and head on combat with huge aoe potential and overtime fire damage.
Windmaster. Spec that is all around stealth, illusions, fast kills and fast movement. more of a single target spec with a short burst windows.
Earthmaster. Tank specs.
Always wanted blademaster in wow(no its not arms warrior stop it pls) but i think its time for new ranged class. Maybe Shadow hunter or warden (class that use throwable weapons), dark ranger.
Battle-mage.
Like a mage but actually uses a sword and twonks things with spells too. No not a DK/Paladin, more clothy like than platey. So… guess they could wear mail?
I don’t like DKs ok?
I guess it’s like ye olde clerics that run round in mail and twonk things on the head.
so pretty much gw2
so an enhancement shaman?
Weird that’s SV with lone wolf they took away and was the most beloved spec at the time!
Tinker.
Fights in a mech, the modelnofnsaid mech is reflected by your race.
E.g Goblins, Blood Elves, Nightborne/Gnomes, Dwarves, Junker Gnomes
