I personally don’t care what they add at this point as long as it’s not more melee.
I really got inspired by this post. I am currently not playing due to not having the time but I am one of the people who actually like BFA. I am not saying it’s perfect, it could improve on all fronts but I am really enjoying the casual gameplay I get to do when I have the time. I think my post will be a compilation of things already said, but here it goes.
Tinker/Junker class
I really like the steampunk/mecha aspect that the game sometimes has. I think WoW has a really nice way of balancing the steampunk and high-fantasy aspects of the game. Even though the high-fantasy feel is more spread out, steampunk elements are almost always present in one way or the other and I think a Tinker class would be a nice addition to the family.
LORE & FLAVOR
I think the lore is already there with gnomes and goblins. I guess dwarves and dark iron dwarves could also be a possibility, but then we are missing some races on the horde side.
I actually think it can basically be any race, with the exception of heavy “arcane/magic” oriented races, and also physically big races (tauren/troll/draenei ect.) because it would maybe to clunky to animate, and also it would make the mech-suit (more about that later) too big. Blizzard would just need to make a story how a race was actually thought the secrets of the class because of “the war effort” and that is it. It could maybe even be a class storyline - something to do before you can use a class. Maybe have the goblins and gnomes have it and then only some allied races like vulpera and maybe Mechagnomes if they get introduced. But races in my opinion are not a problem.
Also, as someone before stated, the visuals of the mech-suits, robots, gadgets will be race based - just like the druid class.
The suit is also a type of mount (similar to shamans, druid or worgen) and can maybe help in gathering certain types of materials or even have an advantage with some crafting professions depending of tank/dps/heal.
I think a mail class would fit nice here. Plate seems to heavy for the ideas I will layout here.
TANK
Demoliton Tinker
Bulky mech-suit based class. Out of the fight can choose to be in the suit or out. It would be a melee based class, but have a specific ability to become ranged (something like survival hunter). I am thinking something in the heavy defensive skill where you eject from the mecha-suit and basically the suit is tanking while you are healing or repairing the suit.
Also a skill with building up scrap that you can then use to repair/heal yourself.
Maybe a “scrap” based skill system like the chi/rune system could work on the whole class, but I didn’t go that far.
DPS
Gadget/Overclock/Clockwerk Tinker (didn’t decide what name is more cool )
A more slender mecha-suit. A range spec using all kinds of gadgets as weapons. Maybe talents can be the main flavor for the class and by choosing certain talents you are using shoulder guns or turrets or rocket launchers etc.
Maybe an ability to change your position with an ally or even a foe.
Also a knockback ability would be so nice.
HEAL
Mechanic/Automaton Tinker
This spec would be out of the suit for the fight but can use it for travel. The mecha-suit is basically a robot with which you heal/help others. Maybe it’s one main robot and many small ones for different things. There can be an animation for channeling spells of the robot running across the battlefield to help your team mates. For instant spells it could be a teleport based animation or some kind of projectile.
Setting up healing turrets can be a thing or healing bombs would be really cool - even hybrid bombs that can also damage the enemy or slow them down (something like the survival hunter talent for bombs).
And similar to the tank spec, the healer could get inside the mecha-suit for a big defensive skill for example.
As a 4th spec I was thinking something in the lines of an arcane fueled mechanical suit that would widen the range of playable races and also bring some more flavor to the class.
Sorry for the wall of text but my imagination went crazy and I had to put it somewhere. This is just me playing with the flavor and fantasy of a tinker like class and maybe the whole “out and in” of the suit would not work mechanically but I think it would be cool if Blizz could pull it off.
Bliz: We have only 3 ranged specs, so waht about scrapping oen of them and makign it melee? Make sure it’s the most populair one people enjoyed the most! - Legion
No more melee, maybe even not tanks.
DK: 2 melee - tank
Monk: Melee - tank - healer
SV Legion style: Plus 1 melee and minus a ranged
DH: Melee - tank
Every radical spec change and new classes has been adding melee only for dps.
And then they go and make raids where Melee are restricted. Because it’s not like they didn’t add loads of melee classes to the game
I guess… damn it.
Inferno DKs
a battle mage still needs to be a mage, that has melee spells added in them. It needs to fuction around the fact that a mage wears cloth and basically is made out of paper.
We see classes that have a charge and a disengage. A battle mage could potentially have this with a blink spells similar to displacement. It could work with comobopointsor similar to runes like dk. It uses both fire and frost spells.
Do not despair!
Lets try to get the game not to suck before we throw more classes into the ring.

I have to agree after all this story of Mechagon it is the best time to introduce a tinker class: a mecha based class. The specs could be:
Tank - a melee mecha wrecking around
Ranged DPS - shooting rockets, arms n other stuff
Heal - Shooting medpack or sending heal bots
or other spec which build a little bots around acting like a pets (something like Torbjörn in Overwatch)
Weapon and armor?: a wands - using them as a stick to steer the mech / mail armor
Been thinking lately, why not a gunslinger class
Dual pistols
Gun sniper
and Gun healer ( Ana from OW style )
It would be really cool.
Tinker- would be playable only by goblin/gnome races. Would have 3 different specs, one for each role, would have mech and would be gadgets and long range expert with things like turrets.
Dark ranger - would have similar playstyle to Diablo 3 demon hunter.
a bard type … spell caster but focuses more on buffing and sustaining that than doing high end dps. Highly movable but needs to channel and shoots with small hand crossbows. Can poison the bolts very effectively. Low end dps but high end buffing.

You could illusion a tank and have it perform some sort of tanking duties etc or you could clone a dps and get the majority of their spells etc … brilliant. Imagine one priest on zul doing the dispelling and you could clone a priest and do it for em, taking the pressure off. Or not enough warriors to leap for orbs on ghunn … no prob, get a clone. excellent idea
Why oh why did they not let warlocks tank, remember demonology when it was cool ? And you could tank we don’t need new classes just some reworking.
Feels like we are heading towards the tinker class what with Mechagon and mechagnomes being introduced. Personally I would love that ,esp if they gave them 4 specs like druids so you really could play every role.
Plus it would be something that every race could easily be…after all we can all be engineers cant we!?
Id also like to see something that worked more with buffs and debuffs, something that required abit more thought to play. So maybe Chronomancer who alters time to cause positive or negative effects or a Bard type class mqybe.
