Blizz sent out a survey last year to players about potentiel playable classes in WoW in the future.
I like the idea of having just a one spec class. We could have more classes without having to balance tank /heal /dps all the time.
I mean the necromancer can just be a lock/dk where ghouls come more into play. Similar to demonology but with undeads.
What are your thoughts ? Would you rather have one hybrid class every 4 years. Or have many but with one spec in mind ? I understand in the past why blizz tried to offer more class choices for tanks and healers. There wasn’t many playing those roles back in the day as they were class specific.

I disagree with more classes. There are already too many.
If anything, they need to roll down the specs/classes and races.
We got too many races. They need to turn many of them into “skins” of existing ones. Like Kultirans just a “version” of humans. Like the humans with pointy ears (Arathi). Maghar Orcs should be a version of Orcs. Not their own race… and so on…
We got too many specs. They should make 1 Rogue spec, 1 DD shaman, 1 lock spec… ect…
I find this so fascinating
in a way, I can see as a competitive player or something that you find the choice to be too much, and we should just stream line everything and make it easy choices. That said, I hope I am not making arguments for you, as that is kinda not what you said, but also kinda is as you want to slash speccs.
I would love to know why you would want less, is it to balance the competitive or?
I come at this game from the perspective of a guy who loves Roleplaying games, Oblivion and the first Fable being one of my first loves.
And I just want more choices, more classes, more speccs, more races, wild and crazy racials!
Give Tauren a 100% strenght buff!
Give forsaken immunity to poisons and drowning but 100% more damaged taken by light and fire.
Gnomes a 100% int stat The possibilities are endless!
and sure, for competitive play, all of this is just removed.
You hop into an Arena or an M+… BOOM you can just be a “blank slate” Character, No racials, a prebuilt specc equal to everyone else, flat numbers, easy and stream lined.
How would they even decide what stays? There are three lock specs that all play different the two DPS shaman specs are super different since they are caster and meele
I find it annoying how they made fury/arms the same by giving fury avatar in the warrior class tree and bladestorm top of it and capability to cleave better than arms through thane hero. Same kinda also happent to hunter when they gave same amount defensives and cc for all the specs so now regards of pvp there is no difference between these specs other than which is most tuned to make most dmg, otherwise the gameplay mechanics wise is pretty same, you use cc and rotate defensives the same. Almost all classes and specs have same amount defensives and cc now. Regards of any content that has rating tied to it ppl just play whatever is most overtuned.
It used to be that you play rogue to control and make setups, now you just play it when its good cause any other class can spam cc almost the same and setups are not so big anyway anymore now that they nerfed all cc durations after they bloated the game by giving every class and spec 4-5 cc on a short cd, which durations they then later nerfed cause there is too much cc but nobody figured to just remove half of it instead, and now they are taking from cds and increasing overall dmg of “setup specs” to make all play more like brawler instead of making kill windows with setups.
They are slowly making everything play the same and be this brawler type dps that just does dmg till something dies at some point after dampen got high enough that heals cant heal anymore. They are tuning pvp around shuffles and after they had made class designs for m+ in mind. From my pov the game is a mess since dragonflight.
Have you ever had to buy pads/shampoo for your wife/GF ? You go to the ile in the supermarket and there are too many options. Many of which are the exact same product but with different packaging.
they might as well just concemtrate on the classes that they have . because they are not going to hire new people and putting more burden on already thin developer team which suffered lay offs is hardly any good for the health of the game .
I wonder would they maybe introduce a void themed third spec for DH. Illidan chose fel for it’s power so if he would see void as stronger, why would he not gravitate towards void.
