Do that and make us proud
Targeting a group for a skin colour? Are u mad, lad?
I admit. I am not sure what you at all tried to convey with your post. But just a reminder, the High Elves have never⌠ever⌠complained about fel in Blood Elven society.
Things the High Elves HAVE complained about
-
Siphoning mana from living beings.
-
Joining the Horde.
Conclusion: Fel siphoning was not widespread if even existent in Silvermoon Blood Elves at the time, or⌠the High Elves donât really care that much about it. My bet it on the former.
The High Elves never did try to help out. Remember, Kaelâthas returned from Dalaran to Silvermoon after Silvermoon was destroyed, many of the High Elves in Dalaran could have followed him at this very moment⌠clearly they did not. They basically just shrugged and left their brethren to die in the ruins of their homeland.
If Rommathâs accounts of Kaelâthasâ situation with Garithos is any indication, then the High Elves also just stood by as Garithos repeatedly tried to kill the Blood Elves off in the ruins of Dalaran.
The only High Elves we know of that have actually actively fought to secure Quelâthalas, were the High Elves who lived in Quelâlithien. They were eventually exiled when they voiced their disagreements with the idea of siphoning mana from living beings.
It is fine, I kill orcs, because of their snouts.
Thats wrong!
Kill the orcs because they are orcs!
#SnoutPride
Well, I love animals, I do not break piglet snouts usually, but I can not resist when I see these little green piglet snouts that beg to be destroyed⌠If orcs will cut them off, I will probably be more tolerant.
Dear Blizzard. I was never part of the âforumsâ and all the nonsense that happens here. Iâve always seen complaining and overreacting in various ways. Never really bothered to join in and add my worthless two cents. Just enjoyed the game and moved on with my life.
Today that changed. Even if my thoughts are unheard, this has truly aggravated, disappointed and frustrated me so much, that I must now join in the meme and cesspit that is the angry trolls on the forums and if I am to be labelled as such then so be itâŚ
Firstly I will state that this is what I understood of the post (in case I simply misunderstood): Void elves and Blood elves are getting new customisations. This includes specific customisations that are reserved to a very significant, unique and relevant non-playable race, High Elves.
To begin, I must state that being a fan of the story of WoW, I have always been interested in playing a High Elf since reading on the fantastic story/world that the team at Blizzard has built.
When we got Void Elves, I thought it a little strange and frankly to put it simply âsloppyâ as to how insignificant the Void Elves as a race were to the story of WoW (given they were literally born yesterday). Despite this, I was happy with the addition as there was an opportunity to enrich the elf lore even further. I always loved the Blood Elves. Their back story and their relationship with the Horde have always interested me and to me, was always a unique story for the âpretty and elegantâ elves to side with the scruffy characters. They being distinct to those elves that decided not to join the Horde, and whilst they had their differences with the Night Elves, had great bonds with the Humans. This unique race that has existed in WoW lore for a long time has always fascinated me.
If, given I understood the post correctly, we are to have Blood Elves and Void Elves have no distinct features from High elves (a distinct and well established race in WoW), I think that this would be a huge disservice to the many years of unique High Elf lore. I say, donât even make them playable (as it seems you as a team have decided that this is not what you want to do). Donât let players have this as an option, if it means to not simply brush all the years of lore and establishment of a significant race in WoW aside.
If it is as I fear, then all I can say is that I am incredibly disappointed. Enough to log for the first time anything on the forums. I hope everyone is safe during this turbulent time and thank you for taking some time to read my response.
- A big fan.
Oh, they are.
But then again, this time, they are not alone. Just hope they join others in their cause rather than end up crusading on their own seeming ungrateful.
The point being, there are also people unhappy about how Wildhammer Dwarves and various Troll tribes are being treated, in terms of racial skills and UIâŚ
This is hardly evidence. The playable Dark Iron Dwarves also got some new options, Tattoos and Flaming Beards, something they never had before.
Is this an actual number thing or is it just what you wish for? 2 or 3 people asking for more doesnât have to be representative of âall High Elf fansâ.
Donât give them ideas
These are normal Voidelf hairstyles in these pictures. Half of them do not have tentacles, I looked it up in the game.
*simply copies blood elves skin colors.
Thatâs literally all Void Elves get. SKIN COLORS. Even the blue eyes are not THAT much of a change since Void Elves already have blue-ish eyes.
Itâs not that easy and I think you know that. There are many Alliance High Elf NPCs, even back in Vanilla. Not to mention prominent High Elves like Vereesa or Alleria.
The only thing I can agree with!
Except there are no Dwarves or Gnomes in Horde lore.
And⌠THIS is not childish at all?
And they still wonât be. Void form, less customization options, only dark haircolors, no sunwell.
The what now?
As much as I like High Elves⌠calling that they had a âloreâ is very strechedâŚ
Highelf druids pls
Best to leave it,mostly coming from people who are stuck in 2003 with the rts,or people on the other side of spectrum from tbc. They cant move and progress with the story progression/gameplay mechanics with the game. They are just extrems and they exist on both sides. It never occurred to them Blood Elfs and Void Elfs are the next evolution/progression in story telling from High Elfs, same as Helfs where part of Nightbourne before that Dark Trolls etc etc.
I am sorry, but so many things wrong in this game and you honestly thought this is a good thing ?? A silly cosmetic thingâŚfix your game for crying out loud. Fix PvP, fix bugs that have been around for freaking years, fix those, instead of adding more useless crap.
You are mistaken,
Savotar for several reasons, most of this goes to Brigante as well.

Fel is produced with the drawing/siphoning of life, not by the offering of life. This is stated explicitly in Chronicle Vol 1. Itâs on the page right after the Cosmological Chart, you can see for yourself. The sacrifice of life by itself doesnât create fel, itâs the drawing of spent life that does it.
-
Drawing mana from a living thing that is composed of mana makes drawing its life and mana synonymous, hence why the High Elves call it vampiric in the Shadow of the Sun. In drawing from a mana wyrm or anything else thatâs fundamentally also made up of or heavily consists of mana, youâre draining its life away. Ergo, fel.
-
Siphoning mana from a living thing, and arguably siphoning mana in general, is a form of demonic magic. Thatâs why Illidan had to teach it to Kaelâthas, and thatâs why Drain Mana, Mana Rift and such are warlock and demon hunter abilities respectively. Demon Hunters being usually unable to cast regular arcane magic per the Illidan book.
Curious that you left out the bit of that Dev quote that proved me right. I mean we can link mobs if you like, want all the Sunreaver ones with Blue eyes, or will you concede that Blizzard are correct?
I copied the entire quote verbatim from here:
wow .gamepedia. com/Ask_CDev#Ask_CDev_Answers_-_Round_3
There is no hidden bit that says that blood elves in general didnât draw mana from living things, or that they were exclusively ambiently corrupted, youâre free to fish it up if it exists, but as it doesnât, I donât think youâll be getting very far. The question answers why fel eyes are so widespread.
AKA ones that donât suit your narrative.
AKA Ones that have no lore and are one-offs that even wowpedia comments with confusion are there. Which do you think is more likely, that Blizzard miscoloured one or two dudes with no lines or dialogue or that they miscoloured the entirety of Allerian Strongholdâs high elves? If you find me a single character who points out said blue eyes on the randos or any bit of lore to that effect Iâll admit defeat.
However Blizzard emphasised that is not how it works.
Blizzard tell you why Farstriders and Priests, the former of which weâre told are less affected by withdrawal, the latter of which we can assume wouldnât be up for draining living things, still got corrupted - thatâs the context of their statement, and Iâve copied all of it. They donât say that all blood elves were corrupted in this way - the draining of mana from living things was explicitly spread across blood elf society by Rommath, he just said it was Kaelâs discovery, not something he learned from Illidan. Those who were against it got exiled. And draining mana from living things is a form of fel magic, thatâs why a demon had to teach it to Kael and, he one of the top mages of his time and his entire society of mages couldât otherwise do it.
Huh. Void Elves get to look like Blood Elves now.
Hopefully this means people who wanted High Elves will stop making demands. For anything. Forever.
If they make a glyph for arcane shot that makes it look like Sylavanasâ arrows in the Bfa trailer then I would love your idea to be a thing.
How did that even happen? Ion saying something then quickly it changes?
How is it good for the game when you have two identical races?
I actually would look forward to a blond hair option for the velves. I have six elves in total (3x belf, 3x velf) and it would just fit to make another âcustomâ helf-class on the Alliance-side. I always thought that two characters per race (male/female) are enough but given how even the Wildhammer Dwarves are shoehorned into the Bronzebeard dwarf option, I really hope we get more character slots in the future.
Blizzard reached a compromise. And as all compromises, it does not satisfy anyone for a 100% while however still offering everybody something they were asking for.
I honestly think it is the best they could do at this point, after the Void Elves were already introduced, as they could not possibly give Alliance a second race based on the Blood Elf model.
I know there are many still bickering about hair color and the option to become paladins, but I still feel like Blizzard deserves a praise for having the guts to go ahead and do this despite of knowing they are in a position where they just cannot win, and whatever they do or do not do, there will always be someone who complains about it.
Certainly the most heartfelt customization advert I have seen so far in the forums, lol.
*Blue-eyed Blood Elves that then became Void Elves, but yes.
