New customization options for blood elves and void elves

Except in pvp, where they will fight blood elves tooth and claw alongside the rest of the Alliance, of course.

Yeah and their team of Horde mercs.

With the upcoming options for void elves, both being the closest thing we’re ever likely to get to actual playable high elves, and clearly being meant to be void elves made after the initial events, with less to no physical changes to their appearances, there’s no reason why they shouldn’t get access to all the features high elves have - at least the ones that are genetically determined. Skin colours, hair colours and eye colours (except for the non genetical fel green taint, which only a faint minority of high elves found in the Allerian Stronghold are supposed to have) are such features. Fashion choices, on the other hand, are more logical to keep separate between the factions.

In that aspect, I believe blood elves ought to get other choices in hair dyes, hair styles, jewellery for ears, necks, hair and body, beard styles, tattoos and other such things. The more, the better. And more features can be rolled out even after 9.0.

Sadly, the neck that f*ks up your hair tentacle is part of the chest, not the head or cloak :frowning:

Well, tbf. There is.

Those are not ‘High Elf’ features in terms of the game.

Those are ‘Blood Elf’ features. At the end of the day they should have been unique to the playable Blood Elves.

I don’t care much anymore, I’ve become jaded.

What was theorised to happen if Alliance ever got access to the fair skin… is now happening.

Everything that was unique about the Blood Elves, their story, their looks, is now being directly copy-pasted to a secondary race on the opposite faction no less. People ask for ALL Blood Elf customization options now, they ask for a civil war wanting to have Silvermoon and the Sunwell despite it pooping all over the lore we had with the Blood Elves already, and more.

It is a shame… at this point we may as well unlock everything for everyone.

Ofc alliance void elves should not get access to silvermoon, that is a faction city, and tbh, the alliance high elf campaigners have not won because, in my eyes, these fair skinned void elves are still void elves in every sense, they just look like Alleria now, who even since the introduction of velves back in bfa pre patch, was the only void elf to not have permanently void coloured features.

Remember, fair skinned void elves are still going to turn purple due to their passive racial and their heritage armour still looks void themed. And they can’t be paladins.

World of Elfcraft. Give more previews of Tauren and Highmountain Tauren customization please.

I don’t care whether they are actual High Elves or just pretend High Elves.

It is still the fact that they are given everything that was otherwise unique to the playable Blood Elf race, and people are asking for even more now despite that. Some of us already knew this would happen, some just feared it.

I wanna see Draenei and Tauren.

Void Elves can take several seats in the corner for now.

and thus have missed the point of my response

And you straight up ignored my point and went the playable High Elf direction. I just put my point back on track, rather than leaning into another subject.

Still, fact is that the Void Elves are now given customization options that should be unique to the Blood Elves… and that should not happen… at all, and yet the crowd asks for that and more.

Never mistake lots of words for someone being angry, I can’t remember the last time I was properly angry in my life, oh wait, yes I can, I was angry over a certain idiotic aide to the Prime Minister’s antics last week. Angry about the reaction to The High Elves on offer? Nah, more disappointed than angry, to be honest. I just happened to start answering your query, then started answering some others ones on the same subject, so unfortunately your name was still tagged, a fact I had not noticed till now, the whole post was not intentionally directed at you personally, so I apologise that it came across that way.

Of course -people- who main an AR are no less important than those who main a CR, that’s just bizarre if anyone has those mindsets, however the Core races themselves, as Blizzard said, are the ones that they are focussing on.

And they have skipped over Pandaren to give a new option to a singular Allied Race. And that is -Fine!- That is astounding news, it shows that Blizzard do in fact listen to the playerbase, if my memory serves me correctly in fact I was the -first- person to post on the ‘Quel’dorei playable for Alliance’ thread to -conragtualate- the people there on getting what they had asked for for so long, and directing them here. Blue eyes for Blood Elves and High Elf skins for Void Elves so that people could play Alliance High Elves. What could be better for both sides I thought?

Seems I was wrong.

Actually, Aethas could not have stopped the Horde from stealing the Divine Bell, because he didn’t even -know- that they had done so until after the fact. What he -did- do was be more afraid of Garrosh’s vengeance if he told the Kirin Tor, than he was of Jaina’s vengeance. He was in a no-win situation where he had to betray someone, either the Kirin Tor or the Horde. But he never ordered it. He only found out afterwards. Jaina’s actions essentially went something like this analogy
“A Frenchman committed a crime in England, the logical thing to do is send the SAS into the French President’s home, kill his guards and forcibly abduct him because clearly he gave the order, then set loose the army on a killing spree in Paris”

But its OK, because…sighs Jaina being Jaina…

And also a member of the Horde, and has that duty also. Just as a reminder, the Silver Covenant were formed -after- the Horde was already in Dalaran, as the Sunreavers. They were formed as an opposition, they were not already in place and then suddenly Sunreavers popped up. Aethas did not condemn anyone to anything. Jaina could have sent the Dalaran Peacekeepers to, y’know, do their job, rather than a paramilitary group with no authority of arrest, to ‘arrest’ people they want to kill. Aethas had no part in Jaina and Vereesa’s War crimes, that is on them alone.

Here is a list over the 24 hours since High Elf skins were released, that more than just one person has seriously asked for as upgrades to a High Elf skin.

  1. Add Paladins to Void Elves. (For some whacked out reason people think High Elves were famous for their paladins, they weren’t.)
  2. Add hair colours that Blood Elves have. (That’s actually reasonable, but coupled with the other requests just sounds incredibly bad form)
  3. Add Green and Gold Eyes that blood Elves have.
  4. Add the Jewelry options that Blood Elves are getting.
  5. Add face paint because that is a High Elf thing (rolls eyes)
  6. Add more facial hair options, because Blood Elves have ‘stolen’ Void elf hair options!

I’ll save my last two, as these are corkers, and people demanded them in seriousness, and I have seen some people liking and backing them.

  1. Give Silvermoon to the Alliance, as it is the High Elf Capital! (For real…have these people never played the game or read any lore?)
  2. “These aren’t proper High Elves, we still need High Elves as a playable race as well as this”

Now those last two are obviously the lunatic fringe, but people agreed with them.

So if you give even 1-6 of those points that people have seriously asked for, then what does that leave the actual race that is 90% of the species?

Less than High Elves would have.
How does that even make sense to anyone?

That’s my point. What -are- ‘proper High Elf options’, because nobody could agree in the last High Elf megathread, and no one can agree now as to what they are.

Mainly, people’s reaction to what I saw as a very positive step by Blizzard to make people able to play High Elves on Alliance. Its’s pretty grim really. As I said at the time, I’d be OK with High Elves on Alliance. Well, that’s what Blizzard have given. I mean the White hair option is actually closer to Vereesa’s hair colour, and they’re getting that. Do people really get that hung up on blonde hair? Its one hair colour. Its not like High Elves all have blonde hair. Is that really the defining point of someone’s character, that they must be blonde? Yet that is the recurring theme when people talk about hair colour for High Elves. Blonde. Is it that much of a deal breaker, when they have in effect given people High Elves?

I expected people to be ecstatic that their years of perseverance have paid off, and I was happy for them, genuinely so. Took six whole hours for posts to appear going “As per usual this is another spit in the face to the Alliance players!”

Incredible.

That’s what changed.

We now have a situation where some like yourself are asking reasonably for reasonable things, and yet loud posters -Demanding- Changes to a Set of Skins not even in play yet or they will keep campaigning for ‘real’ High Elves.

That’s what mildly vexes me about this. Nobody seems to know what they want for ‘proper’ High Elves, and the opinions waver so badly that I suspect even if all the demands were met, there would still be some saying “Not like that! That isn’t Proper High Elves! We Demand -Proper- High Elves”

I’m just disappointed in people’s reactions, but meh, I’ll get over it.

This is the one that grates the most.

I had to read it twice before I realised they were actually being serious, thankfully they are as I say, the lunatic fringe, and won’t get listened to. touches wood

The High Elves died trying to defend it last time - they’d do it again.

It’s almost laughable that people who want to play High Elves spent the last 15 years in Stormwind when they could have been chilling in Silvermoon.

*Thought for today: they could make it a BG ‘The Defense of Silvermoon’ or similar. That would be cool.

Maybe as a recompense for the Blood Elves Blizzard can add magical runes and warpaint options. make the Blood Elves a bit more battle ready, to set them apart from the ‘supposed’ Void Elves, that’s talking mechanics and not lore.
Like asking for Paladins for Void Elves isn’t lore either, so who cares right?

I think at this point it’s only fair.

It wasn’t about the lore. Blood Elves need to have unique features, a lot of them. All races do, specially core ones. Void Elves still have their voidy things, on top of all of this. A few high elf options were enough. Namely, lighter skin and blue eyes. The rest of the new options should have been void favored.

There was no reason to not add them? Well there was no reason to add them either, so just allow blood elves to keep as many options as possible, because no other race is being copied to opposite faction in this manner.

No, because as I said they are getting zero customization options that applies to being a void elf. They are ALL high elf ones. Literally in the character creation screen of void elves, 80% of your options will be high elf, and only 20% void.

Finally it seems that few Pro HE are not really united in their ideas when I see the forums, too bad.

Edit : My original ideas were:

  • The HE in allied race coming either from the Silver Covenant or from a unification of the HE populations (SC, Quel’Danil, Stormwind)
  • Keep some style for the hair while adding new and different from the Blood Elves as well as different jewelry
  • An area all their own, I saw an example of someone who proposed the Windrunner’s Overlook in the Crystalsong Forest, but otherwise I was also thinking of this small Area which is not marked on the map between Tirisfal, The Plagueslands and Quel’Thalas.

Here is now my feeling after these days spent to see the forums and the discussions :

  • So visibly with what I see now is that some people now see the Void Elves wasted because of these personalizations (I was not too much for these personalizations on them either I feel that it distorts these two races, uncorrupted skins for the Void Elves while it is not the same transformation as that of Alleria and the High Elves corrupted with the example of the Entropic Embrace and the voice, I do not quote too much the mount and the armor because it can be done without too many problems)
  • People claiming Silvermoon (seriously? This is absolutely nonsense, especially with the current story)
  • Paladin (at the beginning I said why not, but I don’t think it will bother me if they are not, however since it is personalization with Void Elves it would make much less sense)

In short, it’s great from Blizzard to have listened to the community, big point for that. But I fear that the way in which they brought the High Elves must still be worked on hoping that maybe it will please more people (I was talking mainly about the US side for forums because here it sounds less vocal but with arguments which are similar for some). I will wait the informations about that to say more.

I alway saw it as more complicated issue. Garithos wanted to execute Kel’thas and his followers. In no way he had any capabilities to actually commit genocide on all Blood elves.
So the only Blood elves that had actual reason to hate the Alliance were those we would find in Outland. Those who were in Quel’thalas during that time would have all right to be angry about what happened but were not directly threatened. Especially since it was all fault of only one Lorderonian lord and not of all Humans and Alliance.
So in Quel’thalas there could still be fair number of citizens who would see joining the Horde as an extreme and wouldn’t blame kingdoom of Stormwind for actions of one Lorderonian racist.
And there were still many elves living in Stormwind and other Alliance teritories. They were fine and nobody threatened them. Why would they ever think about joining the horde?

Fair enough.

All right, it’s fine.

I’d like them to give more options to all the races, as it’s not like they don’t have the resources for it.
But I guess that’s a pipe dream.

Honestly… Most people I’ve seen are happy with this. So I’d like to ask for you to not make the mistake that Anti-Helfers have done for ages now, which is to take the arguments from the most extreme of Pro-Helfers and pretend it’s the most common argument from the entire crowd. It’s quite unfair to them.

The only thing I’ve seen that people consistently ask for in addition to this is Hair Colors, which I honestly don’t see the problem with, as it fits the lore and the rest of it.
Though quite a few ask for Hair Styles as well, which I personally would consider a bit much, unless the Blood Elves got something additional or in return.
If so then the Void Elf Hair Styles would need to be given in return to the Blood Elves, fair’s fair after all. Which personally I wouldn’t mind as long as the “tentacly bits” were removed or changed, because that wouldn’t fit Blood Elf lore.
But I have no problem with Hair Styles remaining unique as that can somewhat plausibly be explained as a desire among the Void Elves to differentiate themselves from the Blood Elves.

I agree that Paladins make no sense… If they were given Paladins they’d need to rework all of the Spell Effects and Animations to a more shadowy theme, and then they wouldn’t even be Paladins anymore so it would make the whole thing pointless. So no, personally I don’t want Void Elf Paladins. I don’t even want Void Elf Holy Priests, but understand that has to be accepted to give Void Elves Shadow Priests unless one starts spec-locking along races.

But as I’ve said several times, personally I’d really like a pitch black hair option and a white haired option (like the Night Elves) for Void Elves.
If they don’t want to give Hair Colors because “Minor Void influence changes your hair” (Which doesn’t make sense but anyway) then I don’t know why they gave Skin Colors in the first place.

As for that list of points of yours

  1. The majority I’ve seen seem to agree that this is a bad idea.
  2. Many have asked for this, which I personally don’t see the issue with. As it fits the lore and if they don’t want to give hair colors then why did they give skin colors? One doesn’t make much sense without the other really.
  3. Literally haven’t seen anyone ask for this, so can’t be a lot of people.
  4. Same as number 4.
  5. Again, not a common thing. A few people have asked for it but the majority haven’t.
  6. Haven’t seen any ask for more facial hair options. But I’ve seen people point out that Void Elf Facial hair (some of it anyway) are being given to Blood Elves when certain fanatical Blood Elf fans on this forum has been screeching about they not getting anything.
The Facial Hair options are what Blood Elf folks have been asking for since Void Elves became a thing and even long before that. And honestly, I’m happy for them. I’ve also thought the Facial Hair options for Blood Elves have been rubbish for years. But these same Blood Elf fanatics aren’t capable of being happy for someone else getting something.
  7. That’s beyond the fringe element of High Elf fans, I think one would be able to count one one hand how many even have this demand.
  8. I think I can count on my fingers how many I’ve seen ask for this. The majority are happy with normal skin colors for Void Elves, if they added Hair Colors I imagine only the “radicals” would be left still demanding more.
As Hair Colors are the only thing I’ve seen plenty of people ask for.
