Blue eyes look great, there’s plenty of lore to suggest that there are High Elves aligned to both factions. Speaking of lore, where does black elves come from? I think Blizzard has some explanation to do on that department.
Awesome work by Blizzard in general, but I seriously hope skin and eye color isn’t everything Blood Elves will get. Will we have scars or tattoos for example?
By the way, where’s my dark ranger skin with red eyes and pale skin?
Yeah, I was saying they should both share non-tentacle non-signature customizations, but thanks a lot for the link for everyone to see and learn that other detail too ^^
I love my Void Elf’s current appearance, but I appreciate the extra customization options.
The difference in eye colors seem very subtle though. Maybe the preview doesn’t do the in-game glow justice, but to me it looks like 3 shades of blue.
Hopefully it’ll appease the RP crowd’s desire for the High Elf look and appearance. We’ll see.
The dark skin appearance is peculiar. It’s also an option for Humans I know, and I do wonder if it’s something that’ll be retro-actively applied to some NPCs here and there. I’m not sure how it’s going to appear if all the Blood Elves in the game are light-skinned except for those 3 folks who decided to make a dark-skinned character.
Of all the new customization options, this one is the one that’ll stand out the most and cause the biggest shift in the game visuals.
But it’s all good…though I did hope for some more customization options for Void Elves, though I understand the focus is on the original core races.
Honestly Ion confirmed blue eyes won’t be available to players and they are gonna be only npc’s. Also he said multiple times they are gonna focus on the core races first and allied races won’t be getting anything. THIS MIGHT BE A JOKE AND I’M NOT GONNA BELIEVE IT UNTIL I SEE IT! And everything can change.
Sharing the same hairstyles would probably upset the horde, but I totally agree about the tentacles. These new looks are amazing and an option to not include the void hair would be just what we need imo.
Like, this isn’t a joke? Ion finally caved? After 13 years?
Yeah, I’m happy. I’m terrified because I am on an RP realm and I know exactly why a lot of people will make one, but I can finally dust off that Silver Covenant character idea I had.
I’m now actually looking forward to Shadowlands. Thank you for listening, Blizz. This is all we (the sensible high elf people) wanted.
Now if people still aren’t happy… Well, there’s just no pleasing some people.
Well, seems nice to do this for the alliance, but what identity do blood elves have now?
You should have given them different skin tones, like ghostly white and slightly different shades of pale white to void elves, not copy pasted blood elf skin tones. It’s absurd you can customize the same character as a blood elf and a void elf.
For a start you think that the Exile was about Fel? It was never about Fel! The Fel Crystals were in Silvermoon to maintain the buildings of magical nature, a function the Sunwell used to perform. The reason for the Exile was the teaching Rommath brought back from Outlands, of how to drain mana from living creatures. Hitherto all Elves could drain from sources, and items, but not creatures. The proto-High Elves objected, and were Exiled.
Now, -Exposure- to Fel energies turns an Elf, whether Blood or High Elf (Because they are biologically identical) into an Elf with Fel Green eyes. Blizzard has confirmed this, any Thalassian Elf who spent time in Silvermoon or Outlands, whether they call themselves High or Blood Elf, has fel green eyes.
-Likewise- any Blood Elf who did not live in Quel’thalas during the period of time that the Fel Crystals were present (They were junked when the Sunwell was reignited) would never have been exposed to Fel Energies. So basically many of your Sunreaver types. This is why there are Sunreaver NPC’s with Blue eyes.
What, did you think that just saying “I am a Blood Elf” makes their eyes change colour?
If a Blood Elf was not exposed to Fel, like many weren’t, then they won’t have the green eyes.
That’s the lore.
So there is no “What are you even on?” What I am -on- is the canon lore as confirmed by Blizzard creative devs, the game setting, and now, player availability.
I am disappointed, I remember your guild being a good Belf guild back in the day when Sha’tar had a solid RP player base, how can you think that Blood Elves drained Fel to survive?
Ahem, Correct on the first part, the second part depends on piety, most Paladins and Priests are likely to have them, some other may, if they were pious in the Light.
Nothing changed except who were forced on horde side to play elf come home
The “Blood Elf” thing always was just - sorry using the word: just - an ideology, not a genetic/racial thing
just a name and the philosophy behind it
And that remains intact
This is great!
The fair skin-option closes one of the biggest plotholes in the Ren’dorei story, after all, there are Blood- and High Elves who study the void in Telogrus.
Regarding the tentacles - I could live with the existing tentacle-free hairstyles, but when you look at these Preview pictures, the fair skinned elf on the left doesn’t have tentacles… at least not in the hair on her shoulder.
The thing is about new Void Elves: the current ones got transformed because they were almost transformed into void beings but was stopped half way by Alleria. The new Void Elves will be like how she is. Normal looking with a void form (which i really hope they’ll give the players a way to toggle that form , maybe a glyph or a cosmetic spell like i said before with no buff or anything) and small changes echoes in their voices, void energy in thier hair etc.
