Will we be getting another FRESH realm for Classic (Vanilla) anytime? Either in ERA or SoM.

Maybe in November when the current season of SOM ends there will be a new season but I doubt it because of the release of WOTLK and Dragonflight this year.
never only custom cata until the end of time (jk)
I don’t think so as most are low population.
Would drop wrath in a heartbeat for Vanilla
Yeah, because Blizzard allowed everyone to move their characters away and into TBC, or pay an absurd amount of money to be allowed to play on both. Blizzard’s actions is what doomed alot of Classic ERA servers to a wasteland.
If they announced a FRESH at some point, I am certain it would attract people to return to play there.
Blizzard should decide what they are going to do with Vanilla Classic. The player base is currently too thin for both Classic Era and Season of Mastery. I would prefer Season of Mastery over Vanilla Classic because some of the changes in SoM were good and it can be further adjusted to player needs unlike #NoChanges Vanilla.
The problem with Season of Mastery is that it requires a fresh launch each iteration. This should somehow be circumvented or changed because I personally and I doubt I am alone here; I never have enough time to level the classes I want to play with to 60 in time. There should be some way to preserve the leveled characters in some form.
The game could remember the classes and names of your characters for a reincarnation experience gain bonus. They would appear in the character creation screen as ghosts and if you decide to give the character life, you are granted an opportunity to change the name, race and appearance but not class. Leveling the reincarnated characters would be fast, it should cut the leveling time from 1 - 60 by 60% minimum. Perhaps also an overall increase to leveling speed because it takes quite a bit time to get the characters you want to play with to 60.
This way the threshold to start Season of Mastery again would not be so high and you could keep your old characters in a way. The gear reset would be an acceptable loss, because you usually roll another character class anyways. Most important thing however is to not spread the player base too thin, so one PvP server. Adding even a PvE server is risky because it cuts the people in half. Perhaps for the PvE players, there could be an option to put PvE flag on the character for 10 minutes so you can get to your raid or dungeon peacefully, but it would have a cooldown and max usage 3 times a day.
Possibly if the timing is right.
But near/ right at the wotlk launch?
Hopefully not lol.
Some people still play Classic Era, they can’t just have the characters deleted there.
They can make only one fresh vanilla/ SOM realm like what they did with WOTLK. If the interest is huge they can open 2nd one.
At the end of the season the characters can move to the Era realms or to the WOTLK realms.
Some of them are so low population they could be counted as fresh.
The only thing I could see them doing is doing an actual merge of realms, not just connecting them and using the servers that frees up to make a fresh Classic Era realm, but I don’t think there is much of a chance of them doing that.
They are dead realms, that is not the same as fresh. Fresh does not equal ‘‘no players’’.
With a fresh there is a reset on content being delivered, and a new restart, which is an incentive for players to return and play there. There is zero incentive for people to start playing on a dead realm.
They should do that none the less, like they did in TBC/WOTLK. There is no point having 90% of the realm list being litterally ‘‘dead’’ realms with zero players playing there, and that is not an exaggeration either.
I can definitely see Blizz doing new vanilla servers, either as a Seasonal or classic era style. I just don’t think it will be any time soon.
SoM died quite quickly, and imo, a big reason was it coming too soon after 2019 classic ended. I’d like to think Blizzard has learnt their lesson on that one, and will wait for players to start missing vanilla and asking for it again.
I think the most likely time is gonna be after Wrath, or when all the Wrath hype fully dies down, possibly after ICC is out and is feeling stale. I dont think they’ll do a new SoM season as soon as the current one ends, I think they’ll wait. It’s impossible to guess perfectly though.
Whenever they do eventually do it, I hope they just do one PvP and one PvE server like they did with Wrath fresh. Nothing beats Vanilla…the 1-60 world being full of people, life and PvP. It’s great. I’m looking forward to it and I’m confident it will happen eventually in some form.
same. fresh vanilla is inevitalbe to happen actually
I am pretty certain they will bring another season. Not because not doing so would basically be saying no to more subs, but because Aggrend said in a recent interview that they view SoM as a success. He also claims they have learned something about timing. We shall see.^^
I am certainly not interested in doing a fresh vanilla on 1x rates again from scratch but something with like 5x xp rates and a alternative pvp gearing system (keep the old ranking for prestige reasons but offer an alternative way to get bwl/aq40 level pvp gear after aq release or so)
that I would be up to.
since we have a mostly no changes offering in era I would be happy to see to do a less serious approach on a new SoM
That would be wonderful indeed.
wrath sucks, classic fresh when
How is 4k players world wide a success halfway through the game?
they ment success in the context of testing kinds of chances they implimented eventually in TBCC and WOTLKC
