New glow effects, ui, action bars

Hey

i get really confused by the new glow effects. Does anyone know how to revert these uncalled ui changes (previous glow effect was perfect man). My action bars look like a slot machine in las vegas, i cant focus on the game. any ui setting/ addon that reverses this. kinda serious about it since im nagging in the forums

Thanks

There does not seem to be a way to disable it but i agree itā€™s horrible. Iā€™m in search of a simple addon that could get rid of it (that isnā€™t a full UI overhaul). Will report back if i find one!

Edit: See post further down for an addon solution by Zenac

I found that Bartender still uses old style, so if u want u can install that.

I will use bartender untill someone makes an addon that disables this new glow effect from the default UI.
Needless to say, I am dissapointed with the majority of UI changes this expansion, I find myself constantly looking for addons to revert changes that are supposed to be ā€œimprovementsā€.

Thanks, i may have to give that a try if i canā€™t find any other way to disable them. I donā€™t really want an addon that replaces my bars or anything else i just want the default bars/UI with an option to disable that animation

If you donā€™t want to see the ā€˜in buttonā€™ cast bar and ā€˜cancelled castā€™ border you can make the spell into a macro. The button fill and coloured border currently donā€™t work with macros.

If you want to stop all the button borders flashing at the end of the GCD thereā€™s addon code on the US forums. https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/how-do-i-turn-off-the-new-flashing-action-bar/1629000/15

I donā€™t mind the new proc alerts too much.

Whenever curseforge uploads it -
itā€™s a work in progress but should hide the animations

Just wanted to confirm that itā€™s working perfectly for me and to say a big thank you for putting in the time to make it!

Replacing the textures?

Clever.

I had a feeling someone would come up with a solution.

I can not thank you enough! The game is literally playable once again. At least for me. Please continue working on it <3

Edit: I noticed there was a similar addon called ā€œBlizzard Action Button Cast Animation Hiderā€ that was uploaded alongside yours. Any idea of the difference between the two?

Similar approach, however that version only hides the castbar on the actionbars - nothing else

Thanks a lot for this. The bar animations was driving me nuts

Iā€™m really dreading this tbh. is there a way for bartender to import like, your existing button layout? or if not that, then maybe at least profiles to copy to alts? I have 40 altsā€¦ if I can do my button layouts for all the classes and then just copy the layout to a char of the same class, that would already be a massive step up from having to manually do my buttons for all 40+ chars. frankly, Iā€™m getting close to just giving up and quitting. blizzard is completely ruining WoW for me. I have to constantly find fixes for dumb changes they make. itā€™s exhausting.

It pulls from the default bars automatically, nothing to import. As for the overall bar layout, it uses profiles so you can switch to the same profile across all characters quickly.

You are a real hero man! Tyvm for this addon, this new fancy glow BS drove me crazy!

not good enough for me tbh. I donā€™t want to just copy the bar layout, thatā€™s like a bare minimum - I want to copy the button layout, meaning the position of all my abilities on the action bars. thatā€™s what action bar profiles does, and I canā€™t go back to life without it.

Bartender inherits all those from the default bars. The profiles are for the bar layout, not the button layout.

There are several addons around which allow you to selectively turn off features, but all of them seem to have missed out on the targeting reticle for the [extra action button] because it keeps the annoying green outline, among other things based on what kind of a spell it contains.

Proc glow looks nice but everything else quickly becomes a nuisance.
