Today i was reading about new features that come with Dragonflight and noticed that level cap is going to go up again…
I mean why the heck? Whats the point of level squish in the first place if they are going to eventually make too many levels… Again.
Expansions CAN be added easily with nice features without some mandatoryu level cap. It could just be new talents. There are 60 levels and even if eventually every level gets a talent thats very far in the future. New items. Cosmetic stuff, new game systems and minigames and so on.
The one big thing i got tired in WoW was humongous amounts of levels. I was happy to see that levels come in nice steady pace, the level cap is not too far away and theres stuff coming almost every level to give sense of accomplishment.
However a mandatory number of levels in the game with level scaling is unnecessary.
Just wanted to know if anyone else frowned for more levels incoming?
To cater to the vanilla-nostalgic players, flushing 7 expansions worth of character levels down the toilet.
First Blizzard claimed that the spaghetti code somehow would make it impossible to keep leveling to 130 and onwards, and then they said they wanted to keep 60 as the permanent level cap. Then they created Dragonflight, and went back to increasing the level cap.
I still can’t get over that I leveled my main up to level 120, and the char then got nerfed down to level 50.
Nope, it would be weird to play an RPG and be mad about leveling.
They never claimed any of those. They didn’t want the level cap to go to 130 because 120 was already way too much. It’s obviously not impossible, nor did they say it is. Just like how they never said that they want 60 as the permanent level.
They squished it so they could rise it again, it is that simple
Every RP needs levels and the stuff comes with it, they can’t simply take it away
Everyone knew, when hey squished i, it was just because the numbers, they were too big, and will rise eventually again
Just to be squished again
The circle of life
Size matters
Don’t tell me it not felt good to see those huge numbers
Pure illusion, but still… was nice to see, like the high Ilvl 1000 for the Aman’thul leggo I think?
Was awesome
I knew meaningless ,but still felt awesome
This totally depends on taste. I like leveling in new content, its part of the progress that makes me feel more powerfull.
And im opposite with you for having “too many” levels. If i could choose, i would remove levelcap totally and only make “softcap” for current content max, and if youre HC enough you could keep leveling as long as you get XP from mobs, or maybe even some minimal amount from any gray mob.
Ofcourse it would bring pvp balance problems, but those can be taken accord… OR, it would give nice advantage to pve payers in pvp, that has no gear.
Tbf e.g. GW2 is still very much an mmorpg and has that kind of system. You’re capped at 80 forever. It’s one of the things the playerbase loves about it. I don’t really think they’d consider it for WoW though.
We’re reaching bfa numbers by the end of the expansion i assume. Back when shadowlands came i was saying we’re going to reach 280(bfa leveling/argus mythic level during bfa), i was right. So by the end of it we’ll be like 470-80ish ilvl i assume? Probably getting squished after.
I think they should have stuck to a max level (say 60) and future expansions gave paragon levels like in Diablo, say 10 per expansion and put points in to help power up the character.
When you get to max level (again 60) in current expansion you automatically get all the paragon levels from older expansions so you only have to grind 10 for the current one.
What or how the paragon points power up the character is another topic.
the funny thing is that we switched to 64 bit so we could have bigger numbers but according to ion the inept and his team of useless yes men that’s a bad thing we should be lvl 130 now but ion the inept keeps tearing down wow to cater to a generation that can’t count past 60 like the cavemen they are it started with their stupid crz system then we had forced scaling and ilvl nerfs then final level nerfs to finally nail the last nail of wow’s coffin as a mmo"rpg" honestly the game has felt lackluster since legion it was the last great hurrah
tbh, this makes sense. for a new player leveling to idk. 140? (if we kept the old level system) would’ve been discouraging tbh. whit SL i finally felt more at ease at making alts cuz the levels were less
