I know people hate FOMO, but I love this.
It’s a really cool title, but the fact that it’s a temporary title makes it better in my opinion. I like how the “dream” title is tied to the “dream” patch, and that only the people who’ll be playing through this patch will be able to acquire it.
It’s a true testimony to your character’s adventures, and the challenges you had to overcome - rather than yet another meaningless title you got by one shotting a 12 year old raid boss whose mechanics you ignored.
FOMO, when it’s locked behind a challenge and involves no RNG, is actually healthy for the game. It gives a permanent meaning to the rewards you earn, and the items you collect.
And that’s why Mage Tower skins & Elite PvP sets should never be brought back - it would make them just as meaningless as those titles from WOTLK raid bosses that nobody ever never uses.

spends 2 weeks doing 13s and then quits
“What a journey that was”
Well yes, PvE is boring, so people quit after achieving their goals.
Thankfully, this is an MMORPG and there’s plenty of other stuff to do once you got your boring PvE rewards.
Pvp is also boring, thats why noones playing it.
Incorrect.
Nobody plays it because it’s difficult and frustrating - much like RTS games such as StarCraft II.
People just lack the willpower to endure the learning phase where they get destroyed 24/7 and they quit before getting good enough to enjoy it.
If it was fun people would look beyond the “difficulty”. Darksouls type games are testament to that.
Dark Souls games are significantly easier and faster to be good at than World of Warcraft PvP.
You’re so cool and impressive, i wish i was as superior as you at everything. Teach me senpai.

You may have found something more challenging than WoW PvP.
mmmmm PvE is boring well, its your taste then i am asking myself why do u play this game? dont tell me for the story, or for the World Qeusts

Dreamings good. Dreamer would be better (unless thats already one)
I play the game primarily for the story,
Secondly for the theme and feeling of doing raids. For example I did timewalking black temple just for the fun of it. Didn’t rly care about gearing. My main char has the best gear anyway.
And lastly for the sweaty pvp/pve stuff.
Maybe just “Emerald xyz” would have been a better title, if dreamer alrdy exists
THANKFULLY this is an MMORPG where many people will still play even when the usual wave quits til next season.
Why not just bring them back and tie them to the same challenge level though? I mean we have mage tower back and granted it’s difficulty level is questionable from patch to patch, but since it’s return it has surpassed the difficulty level of it’s 7.3 version many times now.
I mean I have all the MT artefact appearances that I wanted and a few a just did for fun (I think I have somewhere around 26/36) and those appearances only feel special to me because they were a challenge, not because it was time limited thing, I really don’t care if people were able to get them now still. Actually no I would care, because I still have to do the RBG recolors but the characters I originally unlocked the MT skins on are on a different realm I no longer play and I can’t unlock them on my new characters. So If MT artefact skins were unlockable now I would probably go and re-earn them so I can try and unlock the PvP recolors.
Also why not just at PvP tokens that could buy the old sets that you only unlock once you play X amount of games at a certain level? I think they already do this for vicious saddles with old seasonal PvP mounts.
Idk my guy, but I really don’t see FOMO as something positive. As said before I think it’s a better idea to reintroduce the FOMO rewards and keep the challenge, this way maybe more people would be motivated to chase after them.
Because there’s no point if you can get anything at any time. It cheapens everything.
There are several recolors of those sets available right now because most PvP sets share the same appearance as PvE sets from the same season. Is it so bad if 1 recolor isn’t available to you?
Besides, like I said, it’s good to attach some items and rewards to different eras of the game. It gives meaning to those rewards, and they serve as a token of your journey.
Depends on who you ask really.
For me
Yes (not game breaking I quit but still), I don’t like using full sets and a lot of sets have cool pieces that could go with something if only they had X color. And overall I think it sucks that some rewards are locked to you forever because you decided to not play an expansion or patch for example. Again take me for example I absolutely hated SL, the only reason I came back to it at a certain point was to get one of the void elemental mounts from KSM.
Not to me. What gives my FOMO rewards meaning was a combination of challenge and type of reward. Like I said I really love my artefact appearances, I use a lot of them on several characters. I also have a lot of AotC and KSM mounts/titles that are no longer available that I will never use. And take that “The Dreaming” title for example. You like it, I find it very meh (especially since we have “The Dreamer” as well).
Different people find meaning in different things is what I am essentially trying to say. Like with most cases in this game whatever you do people will complain, remove FOMO “wahhh I’m no longer special” , keep FOMO “wahh I can’t have this”. There isn’t a solution that would please everyone. I just think that it is better if there is a way to re-earn FOMO rewards because there will be something people will chase even in seasons where the reward isn’t as appealing (KSM/PvP DF season 1 isn’t good, work on unlocking KSM/PvP BfA season 4 instead). Also it gives people that play on that level something as reward other than ratings.
