Exactly.
If it wasn’t time limited, you would not have come back, because you could have earned that mount at any point later.
Like I said, the FOMO aspect gives value to this item. Knowing that it was going away increased your engagement.
Or the opposite effect: since people can get those rewards when they want, why bother playing now? Like you, in Shadowlands.
This game has literally thousands of appearances.
Those elite rewards are just recolors. Let them keep their prestige and their uniqueness.
Yeah but I quit right after and I was more pissed of the fact that I had to return and play a game I didn’t like because of the FOMO reward. Also I do not find that mount special.
The only reason one should play a game is because it is fun. Not because of FOMO. If you do not enjoy the game in its current iteration you should not feel forced to play because cool rewards are tied to a season. This imo is cheap and its lazy.
But you litarally sait they weren’t unique. And again you find prestige in their time limited nature I find prestige in the challenge of getting them. Saying something gains “prestige” or “meaning” is moot because everyone has different values for those words. You will never convince me that playing the game on the 24th of Jully 2016 is something that deserves prestige or is meaningful and I will never convince you of my view point because you value played at X period of time.
NEW Dreaming Hero: Dragonflight Season 3 End Dragonflight Mythic+ Season 3 with a Mythic+ Rating in the top 0.1% of all players in your region.
Reward: Title Reward: The Dreaming Hero
No.
It may have taken one week from the moment you completed your first M+ dungeon to your KSM achievement, but Shadowlands was a grindy expansion.
First, you had to level up your character, complete the campaign, grind Torghast, grind your legendary, and max out your conduits. Maybe other stuff I’ve forgotten from this god forsaken expansion.
I played maybe 2-3 weeks at the beginning of the expansion then decided to quit. Came back sometime in S2 because a friend told me that the season was easy so I decided to return and get one of the KSM mounts. It took me 1 week to swap the covenants and do the story for renown, gear up and complete some 15s. The week I played overlapped with the weekly reset so I manged to get both Tyra and Fort ratings. The Legendary I used was the one I had in SL and didn’t bother upgrading. The borrowed power in SL was annoying but it wasn’t that impactful (aside from the covenant abilities).
Also If I didn’t have a max level character that is somewhat geared I wouldn’t have bothered coming back and the FOMO wasn’t going to change that. The FOMO reward only was “effective” in bringing me back due to outside factors that lowered the effort that was going to be required in getting it.
And again this is not good design.
Also I don’t think it’s very productive you trying to argue what is meaningful for me, you are never winning that argument.
Nobody plays it because pvp in WoW sucks. Lol, tab target just doesnt fit a pvp game mode imho. It never will.
WoW and FFXIV is the only game i dont play pvp in lol, and its sheerly down to this
Gw2 pvp from a gameplay point of view is superior, its balancing is sadly far more whacky and devs care a awful lot less, but still.
WoW just screams “PvE” im afraid.
The game brackets means it dont matter if ur bad, u will just be placed among other bad players lol, plenty do PvE who havent been able to overcome its difficulty.
And do the exact same thing sit among other low skilled players.
15-20 years ago, pvp in mmorpgs worked, because the online competition was primarily shooters. However the genre has expanded dramatically over time
At this point theres no purpose in taking the quite obvious compromises to partake in pvp in a mmorpg. And people who arent suffering sunken cost fallacy knows this.
The only reason WoW pvp exists. Is because the games that old, a portion of the pvp community isnt willing to quit and move on.
WoW is dying because the gsme simply doesnt pull enough new players, its that simple. There are PvP and casual games which simply provide a better experience with less obstacles.
Why sit here having to relevel toons deal with gearing and chasing gear continously. When i can fire up a MoBA or something and just hit play.
?
It’s the opposite. GW2 PvP is more balanced, but not even remotely as interesting.
It’s massively flawed, mainly because the “Dodge” mechanic has been baked in too many core rotational abilities, which is obnoxious and makes PvP somewhat RNG.
The worst offenders are Weaver and Daredevil, but basically every spec in the game has some of those.
I enjoy some GW2 PvP for a week or two, but I get bored quite rapidly. It doesn’t offer the same depth and skill expression as WoW PvP does.
Honor isn’t reset when a new season begins. You can keep your current 15k honor and buy a full set of honor gear day 1 of the next patch.
There are conquest boxes for your alts.
Gearing has never been as fast and as easy as it is now. What are you on about?
Gearing is quick. It’s honestly a non-issue. We’re not in BFA or SL anymore.
It’s true that leveling is awful and lame though, I do wish WoW had the “queue in arena at level 1” convenience that GW2 has.
Spamming abilities with a dodge is how you play a Daredevil though. It literally has an extra dodge bar, and most weapon abilities (and some talents!) include a dodge.
Weaver has 2 dodges, 2 charges of Twist of Fate (a dodge), and a dodge baked in Sword 2 for the Earth and Water elements.
And that’s just dodges - in addition to all of this, you must also add Blind.
True, you don’t see top players - at all, because nobody plays GW2 PvP.
There is only one game mode, each season swaps between 5v5, 2v2 and 3v3 and forces you into the current activity - and you still somehow face the same people after 10 minutes of queue time.
GW2 PvP is way, waaaay more dead than WoW PvP. It’s not even a contest.
Im aware of this. However there are top players lmfao, they have a pvp tournament just same as WoW although granted smaller.
Although i dont rly ever see people sitting in 50minute queues however.
WoW pvp dont feel dead, providing you play a healer.
They also are one shottable
Their only mitigation is entirely based on CD usuage, so if u spam all ur abilities, ur going to have 0 escape tools.
If ur “spamming abilities” ur generally going to last a very small amount of time prior death.
Both games pvp popularity are toilet level compared to pvp games however.
DoTA 2
LoL
Fortnite
Apex
Valorent
Could even say OW2
Are higher popularity then WoW pvp these days.
It doesnt matter
I jave to do it every time i wanna play a other class or a new role. I have to gear, its irrelevent that its fast
Its relevent pvp games have exiled this concept and made swapping easier and faster
Pvp should be plug in and play, this is why everyones dps and barely anyone plays healer. Because to do so is a complete comittment to the role.
If i play LoL i can play a support one game, without comitting for the sake of my team, its nothing off my back to do so.
In WoW it is.
Levelling and gearing is a pve thing. And just. Weight on pvp. Im sorry, but the market for pvp games are simply too wide for a compromised pvp system in the back seat of a pve mmorpg.
That goes for guild wars 2 also, its still compromised, it suffers from pve class design massively just alike WoW. They just band aid a pvp design to somewhat work in a pvp enviroment and good to go.
Being scared that you might not be able to collect a time limited item/title which is rewarded to players for completing challenges in a given 6 month period, is not a problem with the game
I like GW2 PvP because they have more diverse map objectives in their gamemodes, yeah they have a lot of “Holt this possition=point points” but they also springle in things like using siege weapons and what not in them. My main problem with WoW PvP is that it’s really about CC locking someone (or at least from my perspective because I’m really bad at it).
Tbh i dont Like WoWs pvp for same reason. Just as i dont like GW2s off season 3v3s. The entire game modes just built on hacking and slashing one another to death.
Reason i preffered BGs to Arena in WoW, i think its cooler when theres more then 1 dynamic to winning.
CC duration has been reduced across the board in Dragonflight, and next patch will allow healers to have a shorter CD on the trinket.
Of course using CC is part of the gameplay, but there are many abilities that can be used while stunned.
Using defensives before getting stunned is also part of the learning curve.
Everything you said sounds great and all (I think), but I’m just not interested in the mode. Pretty much every class has tons of hard CC and if you get singled out those changes don’t really matter much (again imo). I watch a friend of mine do Arenas at ~2000 ratting and nothing there really seems appealing to me. I get that there is a steep learning curve and people might start enjoying it when they finally pass it, but for me it’s just too unfun to even get invested in.
How the MMR works. If a DPS player goes 0-6, other DPS players end up with 4-2 and gain rating. The healers, however, go 3-3 and +0 rating. As a result, there are currently no healers in the top 100 players in solo shuffle.
Dampening ramps up too fast and makes healers useless, which is not a fun experience.
CC is irrelevant to this situation.
I’m a PvP healer main, by the way.
You may argue that there are too many micro-CC in the game. But duration is fine.
