Armor = Physical Damage Reduction that scales and has increasing demisting returns. at 7010 armor on my warlock have 60.1% damage reduction. at this point if added another 1000 armor or so it only increase 62-63.5%
Resistances in wow classic bit on weird side. resist cap is 315 this is 75% reduced spell damage of any magic school. but getting resistances this high is very impossible without completely nerfing yourself. but when phase 4 comes out having some fire resistances for up close and person fights “cough ragnoras” is good idea
defense - defense rating covers more then just not being crited by the boss . * At level 60, you need 440 Defense Rating to avoid being critically hit by level 63 mobs. This requires a fully leveled 300 innate Defense, and an additional 140 Defense Rating from gear.
- Every point of Defense gives 0.04% dodge, 0.04% parry, 0.04% block, 0.04% reduced chance to be hit, 0.04% reduced chance to be crit.
Offense - you need perfect baliance of all these be good tank if your tanking. damage is threat. threat muitiplied either by your damage. want your threat to be higher then anyone elses. while all monsters focus’d on you even if have monkeys as team mates like to pull make things hard for you. still have job to do.
really depends type of tank your playing
warlocks/druids benefit more from armor
warlocks specificly get little more benefit from resistances cause reduced magic damage from immolation aura. down side of warlock tanking is not having enough hp to do the job most cloth gear is kinda low on stamina.
druids benefit more from dodge. what makes druids good is there hp pool. druids can have threat issues . at the start needing more time hold threat at start cause of rage system druids are in weird spot now in season of discovery sense defensive rating isnt really needed anymore. do to rune . its complicated on what deside your defensive approuch to this class. main stats always be agility/stamina strengh is warriors thing you gain lot benefit from agility as natural damage reduction get armor from it too
warriors get parry/dodge/block so defensive rating is really good sense they wear plate armor is naturally pretty high down side is they are rage dependiant become rage starved so getting that needed rage at low levels is really hard start tanking at 15-19 but gets better over time
normal classic era you dont tank as warock
sod you tank as warlock
my thoughts on this is this - importiant stats for tanking
HP/Defensive Rating/Armor/Hit Rating/damage then resistances you want to make it so healing you isn’t stressful but at same time you deal enough damage that taking threat off you. can be impossible
however in classic era or sod. for that matter there will be times. people will snatch threat off you. try not lose your cool when they do this. your a tank your not damage dealer and damage dealers will in fact outscale you from time to time. if they themselfs dont watch there threat or they hit muiti-crits in role. dont listen to raid lead ask them to chill a second your about to snatch threat. end up doing so and wiping the raid through dps tunnel vision over eagerness to push buttons
(personally i think these people go back to retail stop playing classic but there we go)
