This is the most plausible explanation in my opinion. It’s the same mechanic that slowly turns some suburbs into living inferno, those who can’t stand it move away and only the worst are left.
Of course one’s own attitude makes a huge difference, if you start by saying “you’re all a bunch of ___” there’s a decent chance someone will not like it very much and the reply might not be the friendliest. Just like in real life.

Everything, it’s always been like thuis.
So why yo ask; it’s easy, wow (high-end content) is mostly played by people who have nothing going on in life. Their whole personality is wow, and as a result take the game way too serious.
But also because Blizzard wants this. They design the game in a way that promotes toxicity and do close to nothing about it to prevent it or combat it. EG bots, rude people in normal / heroic dungeons even. Blizzard feels like they have just a typical “gamer™” audience but really they let it fester. They could start perma banning rude people today for instance and it would change overnight.
However, the core game is designed around toxicity, the m+ timer, the addons like rc lootcouncil, all made for drama and control. The game should have absolute control like in Legion. No guilds that put you on trail with no loot cause it’s all personal. Should not even be tradable imo.
Last, almost all wow players are bad gamers, yes even at +15 or up. As you found out, the most difficult thing in wow is other players, not the game itself. Since they are still bad players, using 10 addons that tell them what to do and still die, they try to try-hard it, with meta classes, meta routes etc, they THINK that will help them when really they just need to gid gud. But they won’t. Try watching popular mythic raiders play any other game where skill is actually invovled, like LOL or CSGO. You’re gonna laugh.
This is also a thing, Shadowlands killed retail wow. it really did. Ofc not in the sense of literally nobody plays, but in the sense that you NEED cross faction and cross realm play to get any sort of “short” waiting times for m+ and raids.
For years and years the devs have catered to a ever shrinking player base of elitist MDI’s etc. Only now do they realize that there are only so many mounts / cosmetics you can put in the store before it becomes meaningless and you actually really do need new / returning casuals.
Due to this, the amount of of casuals, casual hardcore and others that quit is huge. The addicts will play whatever and stayed. So the sweat to casual % is much higher now. Which only accelerates in causal leaving.
Myself I was more hardcore but the community is so toxic that I would never do anything like that again, also crappy addons and overcomplexity of classes, which are addressed in Midnight. Either housing is fun or i’ll never return to retail wow again, it’s really that simple, I quit 8 years before a month or so ago, next time will be permanent. I pre paid my sub for over a year so I can explore housing without pressure but then if it’s bad, or shallow then ye, the game falls completely flat elsewhere so no point in playing it.

Can confirm that i’m one of those that kind of gave up and fully switched to collecting instead, much more fun and relaxing for me personally. I tend to get my KSM/aotc and that’s it these days.
Now I’m no raider or M+ player (played solo all through TWW) but here’s my coppers worth…
I actually don’t believe he is a ‘new’ player as he claims - there’s something he ain’t telling us

The problem is the game incentivieses it to be elitist, thanks to the fact if you fail a key its depleted 1 level. And if you are pushing score and just need 1 specific dungeon. If that key is bricked you are screwed. Because now you will need to redo that key on a level you have already done (gamble again with pugs) untill you time it and even then you will get a competly different dungeon.
The problem with m+ is there is no real way of actually pushing score without spending 40 hours a week trying to get THAT one key you need and then actually getting a good comp to do it.
That is why people are extremely picky and take only meta classes, they literally want that 1-5% increase to it being timed because if they dont and it brick they will most likely need to wait for next vault and be lucky.
Sadly there is nothing you can do yourself, and its actually on blizzard at this moment to make it less convuluted to push key levels.
I have been asking for it since Shadowlands when i started doing 20s, and its just awful to pug and get actual score.
Just out of curiosity, because you seem to know enough about human psychology in general to be able to make generalizations about all of humanity. What do you think, is an athlete who has played tennis for 20 years a better tennis player than a beginner who started the sport a week ago? Genuinely interested of hearing your opinional takes, opinions which still are not based in anything factual I’m afraid.

Thankfully there’s plenty of ways to enjoy the game without having to interact with their kind. 
The issue is not whether their skillset is better and they have more experience; that goes without saying. The issue is how they act about that fact. How they conduct themselves towards others who do not have those things.
And another issue is sheeple mentality. All sorts of things trickle down into the more ‘mid range’ playerbase who then twist it into something toxic.

Altough I am not familiar with the “hunter baiting”, not sure if that is a thing but I like the poetic nature of hunters being the ones hunting and all, and if they would then themselves be hunted by using the term hunter.
There is an error in this statement. It’s not waiting for THAT tank for 20 minutes but rather is “waiting for the META tank only for 20 minutes”…

If wow had a ranking system most of these forum dwellers would be bronze and silver. I am new player like him. 4 months of game time with no prior wow experience. Currently raiding in a CE guild we are progressing nexus king mythic.
3404 IO, missing 2 keys for resi 16 as we speak. Playing fury warrior, still not getting accepted to keys because well I’m a META class or S tier class like mages or hunters. I can tell you based on my own performance and gameplay. I’m new in the game a complete newbie, and i preform equal or better then most of you forum dwellers. You call us toxic players , well because of you casuals this game is filled with one button rotations and so on. WOW is very easy game ,and please don’t tell me that you used to raid 15 years ago, because you’re just washed-up by now.
I actually agree with the author of this post, because he makes valid points while you sit at forums and do basically nothing. Just face the reality WOW is ego-driven-narcissist game.
This is coming from a person who was competitive in various of fps games.
To end this debate, logs don’t mean anything other then
fuel your own ego. It will not determine if a player is good or bad, have fun
