New players and names

Surnames would be a fabulous way to be able to have more names.

Some games allow you to have more characters and spaces. Others give you a realm or account based surname.

Well i certainly wouldn’t mind a last name or adding in an ’ or a - . But there are 12 letters to use for a name. With a little fantasy i found that longer names are less common and more often free.
But i do feel your pain. I had it happen quite a few times that picking a name took so long, the creation screen threw me out

Welcome to the game, Ailena I´ve had a similar situation, but I usually do find a name in the end! Though it would actually be nice to have some kind of name ‘purge’ done by Blizzard, to free up the names of those characters, that are not being used for a long period of time/ level 1 characters, perhaps. I vaguely recall that has been done once, but I could remember wrong.

I so want last names, more than High Elves or Player Housing or even the famed PvP Vendor. My characters are named after characters from books.

Thodric (my main) is in fact Thodric Jarl
Elkor (main alt) should be Elkor Alish

It is such a pity I cannot properly pay homage to my favourite fantasy author.

All they have to do is allow using space in names.

I was just about to say the same thing but as usual, you got it first Allowing us to use spaces in names would bring so much more variations to the table.

I really want last names too. I always imagine my chars with them. It’d just make characters feel that bit more personal. You know?

It’s hard to find good names you mean, I’ve never had trouble with names like Alliestash, Testy or Lessgo.

Anyway part of the reason I chose Outland instead of Silvermoon as my realm is because it has less people, so I hoped I’d have better names available. And it’s still considered “high” population so it isn’t deserted.

Usually having a naming system helps. It’s easy to use something like word + word and just changing one of them each time while the other one always remains the same. I haven’t had trouble naming any of my characters that way and I never resort to any special characters.

I started to use the unicode letters to be ok with names since all are taken which I wish to have xD
