The problem with the Warrior + Priest = Paladin equasion is that it is not relevant except for the silver hand.
The Loa are the power source of the Trolls. So without the blessing of Shirvallah the Zandalari Troll of Light. Then they will never be a Paladin.
Power sources used to matter. But with the: All races can become all classes project. They did mess up a lot of the established Lore. A major one is the Draenai and Lightforged Draenai Warlocks. Sometimes you can’t push that square into the circle space. Even if you can retcon things.
Kul Tirans were already Paladin back in Warcraft 2. When Jaina Proudmoore betrayed her father. Sold him and her rescuers to the Horde for the sake of Peace. A peace that the Horde ruined when the bombed Theramoore anyway.
Forsaken Paladin will be a very bad retcon. On par with the Witcher Blood Origins bad.
Since the light (used to) purge all Undead. So in death Forsaken Priests used to be harmed by the very light the called upon. So it made sense that they would follow the Cult of Forgotten Shadow or something.
Goblins are pure in their greed. They lack the devotion to anything else but making money. Which is why Gallywix was so upset that the boss made of treasure was taken down in the raid on Dazar’alor.
That does not make sense. They are the Maghar because they chose not to embrace the Light just as the son of Hellscream done and the rest of the kin with alternate Draenor. High Exarch Yrel granted them that choice. They chose not to. Many were willing to die in their rejection of the Light.
Why embrace it now? Why not return and bow down to High Exarch Yrel?
The Gnomes have always depended on their own wit and intelligence to not just survive but thrive. Was it 90% of the Gnome population that was lost with the fall of Gnomeregon?
This does not make sense. Worgen are cursed. So the Light will react to the Curse of the Worgen. The Light reacts to the curse of Undeath.
Voljins quest the ‘who done it, who made Sylvannas Warchief’. Demonstrated that there are alternative power sources of The Light.
So Lunar Powered Paladins kind of makes sense. As Tauren are Solar Powered Paladins.
This is the problem with the “new normal” time does not make it make sense either. Gnomes could not be hunters until Legion. Watch changed?
You do know she and her family blood line is Cursed right?
The other one of the family people love to use as an example is a warrior and a literal ghost in the story.
The problem is that as a follower he no longer is ghostly and because he is a follower on the paladin thing people assume he is a paladin even though it states that he is just a warrior.
Maybe we go back end yrel and a faction of light maghar join the horde. Also they refused to join a fanatical organisation akin almost to the scarlet crusade. Rather then an organisation like the silver hand
the worgen curse is different tho. Undeath reacts with the light sure so does void but weve never been told or shone worgen cant use the light afaik at least. Worgen stops them becoming undead so maybe it allows the light
tauren use the sun zandalari use the loa we can easily add more races using various explanations. highmountain could learn from the tauren for example
hunters arent exactly a challenging class to become lore wise. luckily for most of their players
That seems to be wishful thinking.
After the defeat of the Iron Horde a new superpower arose on Draenor. The Draenai. The Orcish clans never really recovered. Even the remnants that drank the Fel blood there would be few who did not.
High Exarch Yrel embraced the Orcs that chose the Light. It is not accurate to compare the Draenai of alternate Draenor to the Scarlet Crusade. Many Orcs that chose the Light are coexisting with High Exarch Yrel’s forces.
Whilst High Exarch Yrel are not official part of the Alliance. The Alliance itself will not stand still whilst an old ally is attacked and invaded by the Horde. The Maghar Orcs do not speak for all of the Orcs on Draenor. The Son of Hellscream himself was among those Orcs that embraced the Light.
Small scale skirmishes are inevitable. However Horde leadership no longer have the stomach for another war.
Think about it. The Light blesses and cleanses. It does not curse. There is no comingle with curses. Bad writing can hurt pre-established lore. Shadowlands (the Sylvannas expansion) is evidence of this. When the jailer was the writers despreately trying to force a square block into a circle hole.
Adding power sources will not really make sense. There are some retcons to make the Naaru the prevailing source of the Light for the Alliance. Odin’s forces uses the Light but they are not Naaru powered.
Consistency is important. There use to be reasons why X races could not be Y classes. But then when things are changed sometimes writers forget to make it make sense. Like MechaGnome Druids. Nature needs an upgrade?
Not having a kinship with animals is important. Like how Zandalari have a natural kinship with dinosaurs - Forsaken have a natural kinship with undead but other hunters need a tome.
Light Undead seem to be a failed ressurection. But it is a mess in terms of the story.
People forget that the Blood Elves Are/Were magic junkies. Naaru was simply another power source for their magic addiction. The Blood Elves used the Naaru called Muuru in order to sate this. Drove him to the death state where he became Entropius. The remnants of Muuru was used by Prophet Velen to cleanse their Sunwell.
Devotion to the Light can change depending on their power source.
Relationship to the Loa can be similar to the Shaman’s relationship with the elements. Without approval of Kimbul the Zandalari need another power source for Light.
For so long Paladin did have their differences which was a good thing as this added to the WORLD as a whole.
Church of the Holy Light - Naaru powered Paladin - Sunwalkers - Blood Knights - Loa powered Paladin.
it does make sense because mag’har have playable priests, and no “canonicaly they can use only shadow” is your pure headcannon (if you think that is) and doesn’t addressed like this by game in any way, they didn’t decide to not “embrace light”, all we know that they didn’t want to follow will of naaru, and believe it or not judging by the fact that naaru have contrasting personalities they are not monolith
surface level lore knowledge, worgen’s curse is failed attempt to tame spirit of goldrinn and basically unlock “werewolf form” by druids, and worgens are at peace with their wolf form right now, it’s not a shadow or fel spell
My imps seem to be as powerful as gul’dan, seemingly enough next expansion will be the best ever. seeming
yeah yeah and?
and what this supposed to mean
my brother in christ they were draining m’uru from it’s life force, like yeah of course it allowed them to do so but they weren’t praying or doing shamanistic rituals, they connected the tubes and pressed “extract”
Join us or die. Anyone not a member is the enemy. How bc are they any different from the crusade? Cos they’re fighting orcs who invaded Azeroth in another timeline? Because they’re horde and therefore evil?
I get it, but blood knights weren’t devoted specifically to “light” from the start, they were devoted to their people and hunger for power, and their source of light magic was directly drawn from naaru, and empowered by devotion from other spheres, not specifically light worship or being all dandy with what local naaru wants to do.
Reminder that any horde aligned paladin character can complete mag’har quest and not suddenly lose powers in process, and yeah, scarlet crusade shows that light devotees can have different opinions and oppose each other
