@Rowtan how are you guys set up for SL? I imagine you have enough to at least make a start on the raids? That’s were we are, with a thankfully full raid roster but probably very little chance of any new recruits going forward.
I don’t think we’ll have any problems. We were still running raids up until a few weeks ago, and only stopped because we were losing interest in them, not because we didn’t have enough people to run them.
To be honest, my main concerns are more related to too many people, as we only run one raid group, so we can take a maximum of 30, so it just depends how many people show a renewed interest in raiding when SL comes along, especially as we’re seeing an uptick in new applications now too.
There are some benefits to being one of the few casual raiding guilds on the server (on horde side)!
My other concern is more related to the start of raiding - it was originally announced that raiding would be starting just over 2 weeks from the start of the expansion, but I couldn’t actually see any way to gain the gear level required, within those two weeks (dungeons were showing gear too low, and the other sources of decent level gear just didn’t appear to be feasible in that time frame).
We’ll be running at LEAST two raids early on (Normal/HC), maybe even a third one. Again, not the biggest issue and for a guild such as ours it’s an opportunity to have events/competitions/bragging rights. It’s going to be a riot.
Have fun and good luck! In theory we might have enough for two groups … but you get all your related issues … needing the relevant numbers of tanks, healers, etc, and, as we’re a social guild, I’m adverse to anything that might potentially lead to drama … and I do enough work as it is
It was less the time required, and where that gear was actually going to come from. When I checked a while back, there was no way I could see, on wowhead, to get the gear level required, from the sources that would be available in the first two weeks, ie, prior to LFR, M+ etc.
Mythic dungeons was dropping 183, LFR was 187-194, WQ’s 180. We worked on the assumption that gear requirements for Normal was 187, but the only sources for that gear, other than professions, was LFR+ raids, or M+, neither of which arrived until or after the raid itself on Normal/Heroic was released. That may have changed now tho … and this is all rather off topic
Irrespective of our guilds being okay … there are a LOT more guilds on our realm that are struggling and, I would expect, a few have just given up trying.
Well now Blizzard CS EU have at last confirmed that no new connections have been planned… really disappointing, this month+ of silence just shows how incompetent Blizzard have become
Well since they do not care about connecting 2 of my dead realms together 1 of which is for new players connected to another new player realm i will let my sub run out and not be considering re subscribing quite likely after shadowlands is out, i guess its quite obvious shadowlands will not revive wow for me.
To be fair, that tweet doesn’t say they have no more connections planned. All it says is that there is no announcement on the forums as of now.
I’m thinking they are planning more but has put it on paus over pre-patch and SL release to make everything as smooth as possible. They had some buggy connections the last time with characters going missing and all that.
If it turns out I’m right there will be coming announcements to the forum after SL release.
I asked them on Twitter and unfortunately it is indeed true.
It is a bit tragic, because a lot of the work they did with the merges, has been completely undone by the recent discount on transfers.
I would say keep posting on the forums, keep requesting it on Twitter, ask the Devs or CMs from America as well through social media. The EU servers are often overlooked, and I don’t see why the remaining low pop servers can’t be merged.
It is not like people ask for all servers to be high, I personally prefer playing on a Medium, but I was on a High pop in Vanilla, then it died and i moved to another High population server - which now is in a similar position. But I think the only people coming to my server lol, is to join my guild.
I also don’t understand why Blizzard can’t do a permanent discount for people moving from Full servers to Low, or Free transfers from Full servers to low populated servers.
They have so many tools in the Toolbox they’ve used in the past succesfuld. So it bugs my mind, why it’s not being solved completely, but left half-done.
No or just editing their original post. I browsed the forums and all the community site for 2 hours to find the response theypromised in the thread in mid September. Why that was promised but no clarification is given, is a bit annoying as the communication was flowing so beautifully during the connections.
And why they leave the work half-done, is just a mystery to me. Sucks so hard. I had hoped for a connection to my server before Shadowlands, but this just dooms it, as now it’s part of the little group of Low - while ideally I’d wanted to be medium.
I feel ya. I do think their original plan was to do it before SL, but seeing how they messed up so badly they did the only thing they could do and put it on a halt while sorting the bugs out over SL release.
But again, they could have… and should have really… relayed that information to us.
I just really hope they will tackle the overpopulation and queues that will be present on release of Shadowlands, and open up free transfers.
But I honestly don’t remember when the last time was, that happened. It seems Blizzard is keen on keeping a 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 part of the pie, as Low, Medium and High.
But I didn’t move all my 7 characters and reformed a guild on to a High populated server, just to end back in the same boat I was in during Wotlk.
And Discounts on Transfers, is the biggest evil in this equation, unless it only applies from High to Low.
