I really can’t afford moving 12 characters just to play on a server where theres more than 100 people at peek hours.
This sucks so bad, yet again thousands of players are left on empty servers…

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Alright! GOOD JOB Blizz! Dont bother connecting realms, dont bother making the game equally fun for everyone. BOTHER WITH YOUR ARDENWEALD SHOP PAJAMAS.
Make everything cross realm including guilds and be done with it.
Bunch of monkeys …
The thing is … that reply they’ve given on twitter says absolutely nothing we didn’t already know. They give info relating to realms already connected (we knew that) and that, if more are planned, they will be announced here.
That is the last one we have done recently, if more are planned they will be announced on the forums.

I suppose the only potential indicator is the use of the word “if” rather than “when” - but that may not necessarily be an intentional differentiation.
They taking the mick ? really Doomhammer and Tura left to suffer with no word at all how disgusting .
Hope all you ones who moaned agiasnt me are happy now that more servers are left to suffer thanks for the backing especially you
Who said we are fine i blame you and that DK for your constant dragging the servers down saying they were ok .
I started this char on SWC way back so most chars were parked there. When we had the previous realm merges I started making chars on Moonglade. It was quite useful to have a 2nd full list of chars available together. Same guild, mail etc. The realms even with those merging does feel a little quiet, however I do think we need to be careful what we wish for. I’ve a char on a very high pop realm and it’s not that great. Trade is spammed with boosting so much that you can hardly keep up with the ignores, hubs feel very overcrowded and quests have loads trying to do them at the same time. Hopefully any planned merges won’t be quite so bad but I also often wonder what happens with character name clashes.
They can’t seriusly be done, I play on both the Moon/Steam/Sha’tar cluster and on BDF/Nor and it’s just not really… just sigh, I mainly play on Aggy/Hell so I’ll be fine but it still be nice when I logg on my other alts to see people…
I don’t get why they can’t just post a proper blue post stating their plans, what ever they are so we would know. Like we are doing some more in a month, we might do some after SL is out, or we aren’t planning any again for 3- 6 years … I don’t know, but something… This is just frustrating. And I just can’t believe they’d be done it just seems so half finished? Was it because of all the wierd issues… Just give us something Blizzard, that tweet was way to wage for me I need clear instructions.
I also often wonder what happens with character name clashes.
Nothing happens I got a character on Aggramar and one on Hellscream named the same thing they just both have the server name hitched to their name.
Also there is a huge difference between a full server and logging in at prime time on a Saturday and you and the afk guy at the mailbox are the only two people in all of Stormwind… There is plenty of middle ground to be had.
Oh of course, I’d forgotten all about that. I’ve never seen the busy one quiet and I know it’s listed as full. I just hope any merges are sensible enough to not go too far in the opposite direction.
I never said that? Blizzard stopped connecting realms very abruptly, i think your very hard pressed to find anyone in this tread saying the current situation seems fine.
These realms really got shafted and at a bare minimum should have been connected (These are currently the 10 least populated servers in EU + MG which should also be connected since they are all ghost towns):
I wouldn’t say it is fine. Ghostowns aren’t fine. Eventhough my own server isn’t part of the group of the smallest, the number of raiding guilds have halfed since MoP, and since Legion there are also 30-40 less. These are Guilds that we’re talking about.
The less guilds, the less competition and the less people would be interested in being there, when it comes to raiding at least.
I don’t understand people who keep defending dead realms. If you as a person don’t want to play with other people - don’t play with others?
But for those, who have been on well-populated servers in the past, and have now seen them dying, due to population imbalances, transfer-discounts, and no fixes for years. It’s a really big problem.
People like myself already moved two handful of characters once, from one server to another, and I faction changed too. I reformed a guild, so I could get away from a dying server in end-wotlk, to a high populated one.
Unfortunately, this is happening again. So to all those people who keep saying “why don’t you move yourself?”
Why? I’ve already paid out moving 11 character. And who isn’t to say the new server I could move to, the exact same thing would happen?
My guild, I founded in 2005. I asked a lot of people to move and reroll once already, when we moved. How could I possibly ask people to do that again? - Not that I am even remotely considering. Shadowsong/Aszune is still fairly populated, although I’d be pleased to see one of the ghost-towns joining us too.
But it’s a general problem, for many servers, mostly the list you posted there. I’d be more than happy to greet new players, get to know more guilds on the server. It sucks going into a new expansion and then it’s the same guilds around, except another 30 left to go elsewhere.
Emerald Dream - Terenas doesn’t seem fine either. I uploaded some stats to warcraft realms about these two last year, and iirc around 500 people around peak hours on average.
I know you just listed the 10 least populated ones from your list, but yeah.
I would take all stats from unofficial sources with a pinch of salt but this has usually been a reasonable indicator:-
https://www.wowrealmpopulation.com/wow-eu-realm.php?realm=emerald-dream
Raider io also does it’s own kind of stats that puts the population higher but still classed as low pop:-
Yeah I am one of those who added stats. Well, last year, but it also gave me a pretty decent idea of my own server last year. Things might have changed since then, I dunno.
I think the issue I would have with any site that shows active CHARACTERS over a certain time period, is that it still is not in any way a true reflection. For example the wowrealmpopulation site shows my guild as being 5th on the realm, however, that could well be down to the number of alts people log into as an active member is simply a character that has been logged into in the last 30 days. I know plenty of people who have 10+ character on the same realm and, often, in the same guild.
I would like to assume that Blizzard will hopefully be going off concurrent account connections, rather than number of characters that log in, meaning that the “activity” of a realm showing on websites like that could be divided by, say, a quarter, and is more likely to give an accurate picture of how many accounts are active on that realm.
Back when the censusplus addon was working, on my realm we were looking at around 60-150 people online at the same time maximum, on the horde side. Alliance was slightly better populated, but optimistically only a max of double the horde side. So averaging things out, at the moment we’re looking at around 200-250 people online at the time time on our joint realm. This will of course increase the closer we get to Shadowlands … but it will be still nowhere near the likes of Draenor
When you think that this game is/was “sold” as a massive multiplayer experience, and that there are so many different ways to play the game that you have to divide the number online concurrently by the various ways people play (although of course catering for the fact that there is cross-realm stuff going on), it is still getting close to borderline misselling for some folk, especially those who would like to enjoy the “family” experience of interacting with other same-realm members.
Blizzard has the right stats and knows exactly which numbers to use to make a propper judgement whether a server is dead or full. They just don’t care to keep the Community posted about their evaluation criteria and even care less to perform all merges that are necessary, especially not after the FUBAR fails they did on Khadgar.
Can’t wait for more connections! It would be great to get some kind of announcement from Blizzard on this important issue.
I don’t think anyone’s doing that are they?
You forgot Doomhammer / Turalyon both are new player realms
