You need to put our situation (I am from Moonglade) into a positive light:
If we don’t receive a realm merge, more people of our pool are gonna leave the servers, trashcaning our population status to Abandoned. This will increase our chances of getting a merge in a couple of years from now.
I think they may have put connections on hold after the Khadgar fiasco.
American (IIRC) server Khadgar was recently merged but someone screwed up and they used a 10 year old backup copy instead of a new one. So a lot of characters were gone, or restored, or rolled back to their state in 2010.
With an estimation of 2-3 months, Blizz’s calculation when to actually complete the server merge task seems to be based on best case scenarios only. They weren’t expecting a fat finger of a Blizzard employee. Oops. Could explain why they stay radio silent
Still no word from on high about what is happening, for us at least. Apparently some non-English mods have told their communities that they have no more connections currently planned.
I really hate being pessimistic, but I think we have to accept that the connections are over (for now) and that Blizz are now concentrating on preparing things for the Prepatch and Expansion.
…
I’ve spent like 5-10 minutes trying to type something positive, like “We can get through this” or whatever, but it all sounds forced.
I opened a thread in the regular community, asking for more voices of players that are in this situation of playing on a dead realm and asking for more activity from Blizzard side.
I understand it sounds pointless from our current perspective, but if you got the energy, just give it a quick comment. Maybe we can push it to heights where it finds some visibility.
Hey goblin friend, we’ll get through this. They’re just taking a break to make sure pre-patch and expansion goes as well as possible and then they will get back on track connecting the last servers of the puzzle into something meaningful.
I really hope they aren’t done now big realms tend to stay big and the small realms forever decline and if we don’t get merged it will just accelerate what is happening now driving players to other realms or even stop playing. Its also sets a terrible first impression for new players if they happen to choose a dead realm and Blizzard has implemented alot of changes to bring in new players this xpac.
So I noticed something. They certainly do not mind merging servers of different languages, like they merged Aggra with English realms. So I looked around all the language tabs.
The only RP realms left (other than us) that are not High or Full are the German RP cluster. So… what if they merge us with the Germans?
BUT! I had a dream a few days ago… In my dream Moonglade got connected to Defias and i was so happy that i can come back, and later they reversed the connection and attached Moonglade to AD and than i woke up and i was extremely sad
While it would boost the player population, I think Blizzard would realise that merging RP servers with different languages into one cluster is counterproductive. You’d end up with two communities with minimal communication that might well end up butting heads on occasion when events overlap or such.
Seeing us, or any other realm for that matter, being merged with one from a different language group seems incredibly unlikely. Aggra is likely an exception, as it was grouped with the English realms already from what I can remember.
'If we are marked to die, we are enough, to do our realm loss; and if to live, the fewer adventurers, the greater share of honour. Elune’s will! I pray thee, wish not one man more.’
What with the sale on Character Transfers, I guess my prediction will come true. How nice of Blizzard to help facilitate the exodus.
To those players who are reading this and are planning on taking advantage of the sale and transferring your character(s) to one of the other RP communities, I really don’t blame you. Our little RP cluster has had any possible growth crippled by the probable end of Connections (It might just be paused, but even then I doubt anything will happen until well into the first quarter of 2021 at the very least), and the other two RP hubs just have all the opportunities and advantages that having several times our own player base affords them. So I sincerely wish you the best of luck, and hope you find what you seek.
As an AD Refugee I can’t help but feel relieved we didn’t get linked with them. However, I’m deeply saddened we won’t be joining our other RP friends on the other realms any time soon. Stay strong folks, SGC is a great place and I’m so glad I get to be a part of it.
Just didn’t really like the vibes there sometimes! Spent 4 years on the server after moving from Moonglade - too busy imo! Also, yeah. bad experience from the get go. Very controlling GMs
