I just wanted to share my thoughts on how Blizzard may continue the Classic experience after WotlK ends. So apprarently, WotlK will last until Spring/Summer 2024. As I do not believe that a Classic version of Cataclysm is demanded by players, I would suggest that Blizz turns its head towards Classic+ instead.
SoM is about to end. Blizzard could launch a Season of Heroism that resembles SoM is some fashion but adds to the overall game experience in terms of more changes. I suggest that SoH builds upon SoM and introduces further changes that can be achieved with moderate development expenses/effort. Here are some of my ideas:
Let SoH start 3-4 months after Wotlk with a runtime until the end of Wotlk
Set Leveling Bonus to 100% as it is right now in SoM
Release raids as they are in SoM
Bring back World Buffs
Add a Heroic Mode to all dungeons above level 40+ and hence adjust items dropping from bosses accordingly (but do not add new items)
Add badges of heroism as a currency for heroic dungeons, which can be used to obtain ANY item that drops from heroic dungeons; after a raid tier is over (f.e. when BWL is added), add all items from MC and ONY to the vendor (top items at top prices)
Introduce honor as currency for blue PVP items and sets
Add Arena to PVP for Epic PVP items and sets
Add a S2 for PVP with updated versions of blue and epic items at the launch of AQ
Postpone T0.5 sets to BWL launch
On top of that, I suggest changing classes in the following way:
Paladin
Let judgment procc a mana refund of X% over time on use
Let exorcism be cast on all targets with 100% crit on undead and demons and reduce its CD to 10s
Increase time of vengeance to 10s/12s
Druid
Reduce mana costs of balance spells by X%
Add mana regeneration talent in balance tree
Priest
Add mana refund effect on mind flay of X%
Let mind flay have a chance to crit
Shaman
Reduce CD on Stormstrike to 8s
Add mana refund talent per hit the shaman is carrying out of X%
Reduce mana costs of chain lightning by X%
Add 3% crit totem effect on 31-talent in elemental tree
Add mana refund on crits of lightning bolt and chain lightning by X%
Now: at the end of SoH, this build can be used for Classic+.
Classic+ may feature the following additions:
Stat squish on Naxx items by X% flat
Two new high level dungeons with catch-up gear at AQ 40 level, f.e. Grim Batol and Strangle-themed
Add a new 40 man raid to the game, f.e. Emerald Dream; alternatively start with a new 20 man raid, f.e. Karazhan crypts.
Add S3 for PVP with updated items
Add new items for professions
At a later stage, add world quests in high level areas to populate them
I strongly believe that Classic+ can attract a lot of players given changes that recreate the game and turn it into something new without adding new levels, spells, classes or races. Classic+ can run along Retail for the foreseeable future, giving all players a chance to choose between both lines of the game.
what is the point of them doing this when they can just launch all content inc and upto wotlk as a SOM. just wait till wotlk fresh servers come online to get a real insight to how popular an SOM where they release all content upto and inc wotlk becomes.
The point is that some ppl love to play in the classic world of WoW instead of any island like Northend or Draenor. Personally, I believe that most of the nostalgia that classic brings with it comes from the old, classy Azeroth.
You can play on Classic era right now and SoM is still there… They won’t do fresh unless they have enough stable demand for it. And then there is no guarantee you will like their idea
add crusader strike as lvl 20 ability. ret tree to have improved crusader strike that
gives bonuses while certian seals are active
Replace blessing of kings in 11 talent in prot tree to new 11 point passive that judgement of the righteous now taunts target for 6 seconds. BoK becomes standard ability
I disagree u will only make all the rest of the game/classes more unbalanced. Do any1 even ever noticed how to balance the hybrid classes still? All the tools r just there… think of it… the only way to balance hybrid classes and meme spec into being viable and not broken is by simply letting all hybrid classes benefit from each other, in other blatant words let shaman and paladin in the same group, retri/prot will be viable with wf+totems, elemental/enha will be viable with buffs and seals on the boss, dps and mana issue gets solved instantly, and with stat buff from both buffs they can be more than viable, same counts for feral benefiting from those 2, as other 2 benefit aswell for meele specs you can even play as meele hunter that way , same story with elemental/balance/shadowpriest. Add on top of that the word buffs and we get a totally viable support dps role, wich in fact keeps up in dps, coz lets be honnest its not shamans/druid/paladin/priest role to be the top dps or the top parser roll warrior for that purpose, point is not being a drag compared to main dps. And u can do that while keeping the original vanilla exp. You just may let factions group up or make a guild on just pve or rp server, and keep the authentic faction grudge and hate for pvp realms, and let ppl decide where they want to go… simple as that. And on top of that u solve other issues like empty ah and server pop. You can just keep faction only for just bgs ^^. Not to mention this whole thing will give a new breath of life to era… and no we dont need another som. And before someone say its not possible i can tell u that they r about to make it in retail, wich seems to have low pop as well and its failing apart and resort to that to keep community alive. I think it should be done here aswell in pve or rp realm.
