New transmog system IS account wide

https://www.wowhead.com/news/purchasing-outfit-slots-are-not-account-wide-all-20-slots-costs-800k-gold-379340

I swear with Blizzard every step forward always comes with 3 steps backwards.

EDIT:

This is no longer the case as per latest news (apparently I cannot paste anything in this message, but Blizzard confirmed this to be just a Beta issue, it will be Warband wide when it goes live)

3 steps backward?
This is a complete detachment from reality.

800k gold to buy all slots per character.
Just shows that NONE of these people are playing the game.

I used 1 outfit set per character until now, so 2 saved outfits for free is an improvement

Transmog per slot and not per item is a HUGE improvement and gold saved in the long run.

So I can live with two outfits and the other changes are just a pure gain.

For us roleplayers, this is an absolute disaster.
We change outfits/mogs constantly for roleplay events and on average use maybe around 6-8 different sets?

The gold requirements are absolutely insane.

On the other hand, if you calculate changing your mog so many times in the past, what if the total cost exceeds those 800K you now pay once and for all?

0 because we use heirloom pieces

Still belt, boots and bracers cost something, or?

I’ll say “potentially”, really depends what you’re going for.
In my case, I get away with what I have equipped right now, the Wind Wolf set, or just some heirloom pieces that cover what I need.

Look I am not and RPer or transmog enthusiast - I use the same mog for over a decade on most of my toons. Still by changing gear and leveling every xpac I am pretty sure on my main I paid well over 800K alone during that decade just because of the need to mog every new piece to match my outfit and this is now gone…

I can understand it will initially cost gold if you want to swap between 20 outfits freely, but after that you are set for good.

Blizzard for sure has some inhouse data on how much people spend on transmog over the long run and is setting matching prices to have the same effect on the economy.

Yeah no.
This is another 800k gold investment we need to make for a system that was working.
The majority of people don’t even have 800k gold on our server.

This change is absolutely terrible and needs to change.

800k PER CHARACTER even

But if the free tansmog on heirlooms had not been in place, the situation would have been completely different, right?

Free transmog on heirlooms was kinda more a loophole than intended feature.

BTW the prices might still change, we are still in beta

Yes, and Blizzard will release Mage Tower skins too.

Stop kidding yourself.

It shouldn’t cost anything.

I 100% won’t be buying Midnight.

Isn’t it strange how it equals roughly 2 tokens?

I didn’t want to throw that out, but it’s obvious they want us to buy WoW tokens.
Well, it ain’t happening.

Microsoft/Stakeholders/Product Owner.

You know, the people making decisions that don’t play the game.

They looked at the playerbase and know that a huge part of it are casual players. These casual players don’t need to keep buying tokens.

So how do we get them buying tokens?

:light_bulb: Oh yes! Lets tax their transmogs, and if we wait until we announce the thing they have wanted forever (housing) they won’t even notice!

Not acc wide, 800k, seems like goldsink because there is so much gold in game and stuff from professions is useless. Only way how to get gold is by boosting or swipe a card.
