anyone know of an addon that lets you use the old UI?
After the changes in BFA that took away the old classic UI there was an addon that worked until today called Classic UI - It’s not working anymore and it made me log out of the game after 5 mins. I dislike the new UI even more than the BFA changes. It looks terrible. I hope the Classic UI will be up and running soon. If not…Im probably never gonna play the new Expansion. Happy I never Pre-purchase it. The UI is a game killer for me.
I got no broplems i use i bartneder addoon atm, and its updated.
Was about to open the same thread. It’s horrible and I don’t enjoy it at all. Been sitting here for 30 mins doing layout design instead of actually playing the pre-patch.
I strongly suggest Blizzard to give a classic UI option ASAP. The avatar and minimap frame look awfully underdesigned, action bar stacks are annoying and take up way too much screen space. Undo this…
same for me. i was waiting to see if it was going to be a dumpster fire like SL was and if this pre-patch is anything to go by i was right. this new UI is so bad i cant fathom what the heck they were thinking. it’s literally unusable for me.
You can literally resize them…
Edit mode > click on bar > Icon Size
Blizzard should have just kept the settings as an option somewhere in the settings. I really don’t see a reason why to adjust this new UI for half an hour to achieve something that was here yesterday.
Same. Im not exaggerating. It’s unplayable for me. If there isnt some Classic UI addon up and running ever, I will not play this expansion. And I really dont have a problem with it. My wow addiction started to die in Warlords and has been decreasing ever since. Taking longer and longer breaks. This could very well be the nail in the coffin for me if some addon cant fix it.
You literally don’t understand my problem. The icon limit per bar is 12. The classic UI had somewhat 18 icons in a row for the horizontal bars and I had my spells in very specific order. Which I now only can set choosing between bar ornament and row length. Excuse me when I like my ornamental UI like it was tradition for pretty much every fantasy pc game that ever came out.
Your comment didn’t help at all since I spent the last two hours getting the interface anywhere near my old setup anyways. But thanks for assuming me being too stupid to find an icon size regulator would be the reason for my post, love…
I was fairly hyped for Dragonflight , honestly. But I think I’ll finally give Classic Wrath a shot and casually level a toon there.
I just can’t stand the new UI , can’t stand the blank icons on the bottom right corner, can’t stand the frames , can’t stand the new map , can’t stand the new cast bars …
Everything looks so off to me, this an absolute killer , I’ve been using the default UI for so long (17 years-ish) absolutely mind boggling to me that they didn’t give us the option to keep the old UI many of us are so fond of and used to …
I dislike this new trend where icons are bland solid color shapes.
I normally don’t go on the forums but this new UI system is a mess, The art for the main overcasts the bar I wanna put on top, My chat is narrow now because if I try to make it normal it overlaps my ability bars… the bags just look weird to me and the size changes it often to just a little too big or just annoyingly small. I don’t get it, everything fit nicely before and it fit like a glove, now it’s just a cluttery mess
All these “OMG the new UI sucks” threads. Maybe people should have done something sensible you know and logged on to the PTR beforehand in order to have a look and then set things up how they wanted. Then again some folks just want to complain.
Old UI was too good, it had to be fixed
If people wanted more functionality they were already using addons. Which they will continue to do so anyway even now. This just pisses on those of us who enjoyed the default UI.
Everything looks soulless, zero-charm, bland and boring.
This New UI is GARBAGE, Why not give us option to use classic UI? Im Actualy thinking of Quiting the game if there is Not Either New addon that fixes this or some Hotfix from Blizz. I have Been using Classic UI since i started To play this game It is best UI ever, I refuse to go To this Inferior version.
Don’t understand all of these complains.
I like it.
I’ve been using the same old original WoW UI for the last 17 years. When I logged it was a shock I don’t deny it but after couple of hours playing it I was getting used to. Obviously I moved all the bars roughly where they all were for the last decade and half and I struggled to find some spells here and there but cmon, it wasn’t that horrible as everyone is depicting.
It seems mostly workable but my main gripe is that you have no control over a few things.
-There’s no customization for where target castbars or buffs go causing huge gaps in the ui
-Same applies to focus targets where the frames aren’t customizable
-You cant move the pet frames around at all and they are glued to your player frame, they also dont seem to display buffs which is critical to hunters
-You cant customize your buff or debuff frames properly and they are missing fade effects or sort options (They are currently not even displaying timers for me so i have no idea when anything runs out)
No way to move or toggle xp, honor or rep bars
-Minimap size cant be adjusted by the looks of it
-No way to move popups like recipe notifications
-No toggle option for buffs overall if you want to use a different add-on for them currently that doesn’t have an inbuilt hide default ui option (most dont work)
-No proper customization for player ressource bars like holy power, combo points, etc
That and a few other minor issues I’ve noticed so far. It’s overall a decent step I feel but right now I struggle with basic functionality that isn’t working as intended.
Kouji your face is a bit boxy x’D
Anyway, I already knew how I was going to feel about this UI since I used it on the beta, or rather I tried to.
It’s just… off. Weird. I’ve given this feedback many times before and it was wholly ignored.
It’s just so many things.
Like if I want to hide all the eternal buffs and event buffs that shouldn’t be buffs then it also hides my actual class buffs but unlike the WotLK version it doesn’t show me how many it hid and I can’t see them without unhiding them all.
Cast bar has fuzzy edges. Who makes a progress bar with fuzzy edges?!
The action bars stack too tall.
Whatever size I try to scale the UI to it always feels off or wrong. Every single panel and UI element has a different size. The action bars are larger than the side action bars and they are both larger than the buff bars.
Readability issues weren’t addressed - still can’t see what important buffs people have without reading a million icons, nameplates are still poor, still can’t see diminishing returns.
Speaking of panels all having different sizes, I’m not actually sure I can find two panels that have the same size any more. And the problem is of course that whichever size I set them to one is always gonna be too big or too small. What was wrong with the standard set in vanilla? Okay, maybe it was too narrow - sure, and we got widescreens. But… why all this? They are ALL different. And now there’s an addon to “de-modal” them so now my game feels like a desktop operating system and that’s actually an improvement.
Icons disappear, textures misalign, stuff breaks. Default UI scale is lower than the manual UI scale slider can go (I think it’s 60%) and like it’s just…
Blast it all. I hate it. I spent 3 hours just now trying to make it work for me and I can’t. It’s just constantly misaligned or too big or too small or just annoying in other ways. I’m just gonna wait for addon authors to fix as much of it as they can.
Its not just my ui that’s struggling right now it seems. Disabled all my addons and in my player frame my buffs have neither timer nor the clockwise blackening effect to roughly tell how close they are to run out, meanwhile on my target frames they do have the effect but also display no timer.
It’s really confusing me. Tried reloading, going through through options, restarting everything. No fix.
