Next ban wave? Black Lotus Hot fix?

So i was wondering with P3 now out, Black Lotus and Flask prices have increased again, Back in 2019 prices were never this bad. Also prices for most items are unaffordable due to RMT people can spend £10 and get 1000g where if i wanted to farm 1000g it would take me a week or so Mining or other ways. Its clear that ban waves are not happening.

Bots have taken over unable to farm nodes of Veins or Lotus.

Because they have market share they control the prices there is no organic auction house anymore.

I get why you decided the route of mega servers but this also killing your game, if you are not actively doing ban waves. I’m sorry but GDKP’s don’t exists anymore so it should be easy to see people swiping for gold and who are sending it.

I think it goes back to the classic as long the bots pay for a sub Blizzard don’t care but I’m also aware they get there sub free by botting in retail/cata for tokens and its free.

When I play now the player base is much less than it once was mostly this is due to the game is botted so much people cant farm or do what they need to enjoy the game anymore.

A few suggestions -

Change Black Lotus drop to 1% chance from Any high level herbs.

Frequent ban waves at 2 week intervals.

Split the Wow sub making classic a separate subscription and make it where people are unable to use game tokens to get a classic sub.

Remove Gifted Subscriptions.

Do a Verify process for a battle net account no more dodgy bot accounts made with fake information.

I am worried with the current state of anniversary realms now that they player base will drop so much there will not be a TBC going forward.

The problem is not with bots or lack of ban waves. If anything, bots would actually increase the supply and ban waves would actually reduce the supply (because when bot is banned, its inventory is gone). This phenomena is obvious on retail. When new expansion is out, trade goods cost a lot and gatherers can make a fortune. Once bots are adapted, the market is flooded with trade goods and costs go down. When ban wave occurs, cost go up again for some time.

I’m inclined to think that core issue is layer balancing mechanics.

There are, say, 10 layers in the most active hours, when most players actually play the game. And there are 3 layers in off-hours, when most players do not play the game, but still enough players roaming around, farming the herbs.

So basically people farm lotus from 3 layers, but they have to supply 10 layers of players. This causes huge imbalance and the root of the high prices.

In the 2019 vanilla, layers were not adjusted every hour. They were mostly static and adjusted manually or something like that. So the supply was more abundant.

IMO Blizzard should not remove layers in off-hours. If layer is added, it should exist for a week. And players should not be aggressively compacted onto a few layers. Quite the opposite, players should be distributed across multiple layers. But this won’t happen, because it would require significant rework of the layer system and Blizzard is not that invested into Anniversary realms do dedicate the entire Software Developer to solve the issue. Also world would feel more empty and not everyone would like it.

I guess, the issue will either be resolved naturally, as player base of the anniversary realm shrinks and the server would reduce to a single layer (so population should shrink to around 10% of the current population). Alternatively Blizzard could continue tuning respawn rate or implement other means like SoD-like black lotus gathering. But this won’t solve the core issue and it might manifest with other resources. For example fire resistance potion cost a fortune and that’s because their supply is farm of elementals which, again, limited by the layers.

Kinda right
Kinda wrong
Blizzard needs to impliment a way to lock the price of black lotus at 60g if through a quest, vendor flasks, or something to make it so they never can be valued over a certain amount. Even if they added a white and black block that had no dialogue and you click on it and it took 60g and gave u a lotus it would be a improvement that would be welcomed for the pvp server.

I dont think they should lock it with gold because 60g now and 60g at the end of classic is not the same, because of inflation. Instead, i think, they can add a way to purchase black lotus for 50-100 high level herbs of your choice (50 of expencive herbs such as plaguebloom or silversage, or 100 of cheap herbs such as dreamfoil).

They should actually deal with the bot problem period.
Flasks are not required to clear content perhaps save for having titans for tanks.

They tried that for years - they can’t.

Shift focus to buyers - perma ban them and botting will stop when there’s no more buyers.

There is an easy fix to this. Put black lotus (possibly other high level herbs) in instances. Like rich thorium veins in DME.

Equal opportunities for all

They can’t do it without banning many innocent people. They tried to do it on sod p2 - many people got 14 day bans just for selling expencive BoE items, most likely because buyer of this item payed with bought/botted gold. But how can i know, from where he got gold? Just don’t sell any expencive items to people u dont personally know? What if i am pug player, sell any expencive BoEs to vendor?

Unfortunatelly, blizzard AI system they used for those bans is not perfect. To ban gold buyers effectively, and dont ban innocent players as it was when they tested this ban system in sod p2, blizzard need real GMs to deeply analize every transaction, but with current situation of “effective management” they can’t afford enogh GMs for this.

Talking about bots, situation is a bit easier. Most of bots on 60lvl in classic farm raw gold in dungeons, and using flyhack. To detect flyhack - you don’t need any AI algorithms, you just need to make simple script. You don’t even need to do bans (to not accidently ban innocent person if he somehow got inside the walls) - just disconnect and teleport to hearthstone location once bot start his flyhacking script. It will effectively break all dungeon bots gold farming scripts, and will reduce amount of raw gold bots inject to economy, lowering resources prices. Without any risks of banning innocent players
