Next gen mmo will be in VR

Its probably on sale 200 euro cheaper next month. Happent when I took instalment plan for phone too

I’m sorry to break it to you but VR is fail, it’s uncomfortable, makes you dizzy, giving headaches and too heavy. I would only accept VR like put a chip on my head let me lay down and play while i chill with only my brain signals. Other than this is just a failure, i hated all VR sets i ever tried

My god… its almost like everyone owns a vr and knows already its going to make you dizzy and motion sickness like its a written rule in a stone tablet somewhere xD Did you all have a meeting somewhere and just collectively decide thats the case?

I would at least try it your self first once and a few times before you write it off based off hear say alone.

don’t listen to the hater, we’re in the VR cool kids club :dracthyr_nod:

I want to buy a VR set to try it. Can someone give me some links to the cool stuff. Im new to VR.

I remember a meme picture of a boy in an empty room, sit on the floor with a VR headset with the logo of Warcraft and the year 2050.

Its funny and scary at the same time

I’ve tried a friends VR headset before, didn’t get dizzy but didn’t like it either. I’d rather play an MMO on my phone and I hate touch screens for MMOs.

Despite it being tied to Meta/Facebook i highly recommend the Quest headsets

I wish i could help more  I am just starting out as well. Ive played some elite dangerous only so far. Got the new batman game for free with the quest 3 hmm. I think Keento suggested some cool games further up in the chat too

Unfortunatley Zenith of the last city has stopped development of the mmo :frowning: but the servers are still up. Its just that it wont get more devlopment in the future. Unless something changes.

Sword art Online intensifies (hardcore mode only ofc).

Just because of that anime. I will try out Zenith of the last city xD even if the devs have abandoned the game and its in maintenance mode.

You sure like to jump logical steps.

Maybe don’t call a rocket a warp engine and we are cool?

Yes, it’s so bad to actually call things what they are. No more progress. We must lie or no deal! Cmon now…

Maybe in 100 years
right now VR is just as electric cars = bad

Giving this more thought, and thinking about all the tech revolutions I’ve seen in my lifetime, the next step is to get the really big games onto the system. Say if GTA VI came out on VR before any other platform, or if a new Baldur’s Gate came out exclusive for VR… it was putting content ahead of experience that allowed the inferior technology of VHS to beat Betamax. Of course, there’s adult material side of things, which was a huge part of home video and internet use - if the OnlyFans platform embraces VR then I can guarantee it will be successful! But that will require new camera hardware for streamers, so that cost will need to drop first. And the problem with adult content generally is that the US has taken a Puritanical turn with the Christian Right 's influence of Trump and Project 2025. I suspect the likes of Meta will absolutely not want to push that as a selling point for VR! But no matter what the plusses of VR, it absolutely has to be worth the effort for most players if its going to succeed. 3D films and TVs never took off because the inconvenience of the eye strain and wearing the 3D glasses, plus the lower image quality, meant that a high quality 2D image is a better way of watching films even though 3D is more immersive. Like 3D movies VR gaming may be more immersive, but that doesn’t mean people will want to play that way.

I think the Nintendo Virtuaboy debacle is still haunting most Console devs.

like it or not, next gen mmo is already out, and has been for a while, actually there are 2, Roblox and Fortnite. They are so much more than a boomer hotkey mmo. They’re not for me, but they’re clearly modern and popular.

Also controls are messy , gives me headache after using more then 10 minutes.
I’ll wait 10 -15 more years till we all get chipped. Current vr only really usefull for goofy stuff and p""n

I’d always wanted VR, but I wanted the price to come down and the quality to go up, but spurred on by Skullfox’s post and a refund from the tax man, I looked into it again and took the plunge.

So far we’re loving it, and no motion sickness. My son is loving the batman game that came with it, my daughter likes fruit ninja and the free MR alien shooter that came installed with it, and I’m absolutely loving The 7th Guest (90’s spooky puzzler reimagined for VR).

Early days at the moment, i.e. honeymoon period, and I haven’t explored the game catalogue yet, but so far so good. Thank you Skullfox! (I don’t see WoW being on it this side of 2040 though…)
