Well, i really dislike colors and red//brown/purple variation. I was expecting to get blue/white version which was more suitable for Kal’dorei. Why they decided not to give that version for us?
Questline was boring and not interesting and actually not sure what the hell even happened.
Heritage armor set is actually HIDEOUS. As Night elf main i can not believe my eyes.
Why other night elf classes cant use glaives as xmog? Such mistake.
No doubt about it the questline was extremely disappointing. It seemed to be more about resolving some internal family issue (avenging parents) and the acceptance of Night Elf Mages rather than the Kaldorei as a whole.
The questline did not address Kaldorei history much at all besides a passing remark about Jarod Shadowsong. Maiev was the only notable NPC present, the others we’ve never even heard of.
No gathering of the Kaldorei peoples together or any sign they’re recovering.
Teldrassil not addressed much at all.
Absolutely no reminiscence of Warcraft 3, ancients, Keepers of the Wild.
No epic battle showcasing just how savage and cool Kaldorei are supposed to be (read: use to be)
The Darkshore Warfront in BFA was better.
I will disagree about the set though. I like it, and the faded purple/silver are spot on for Night Elves. Would also like the Blue and White one too though, they should not hold that back. Orcs and Humans got colour variations, why not Night Elves??
I’m not going to comment on whether anyone has to be let go, promoted, whatever. It’s just trash, that’s all I’ll say. They can either swallow the sour pill now and change, or watch Warcraft’s lore deteriorate further.
I had to say they could save it, but I’m not even sure about that anymore.
The one hour of gaming with 5 minutes of story I got yesterday was also trash. This is just… it’s bad.
That is, in one sentence, the worst of the questline: It doesn’t address any of the current issues facing the Night elves.
Accepting mages into Kaldorei society is a done deal, and has been one for ten years, to make that the focal point of the heritage questline is a huge missed opportunity. (And also shows how out-of-touch/disinterested the story writers are)
Pretty much 100% copy-pasting a Cata levelling questline for the whole thing doesn’t make it any less terrible, either.
I really get the disappointment, but on the other hand; Blizzard probably wants everyone to be able to experience addressing those things in the game.
At least; I hope that’s the reason.
But yeah… The questline was disappointing and badly executed imo.
I think the armor looks fine, but why they don’t just make 3 colour variants the baseline, I have no idea.
I’m also disappointed, not by the look of the set (which is not my cup of tea), but by the quest quality.
I struggled for 30 minutes to have Maiev behave correctly, seems for me this wasn’t tested properly, or the feedbacks were completely discarded. For a company like blizzard, it looked like an indie delivery…
Not mentioning why we only have 1 set when others had multiple…
You can make the heritage set look okay by swapping out the gloves for the leather PvP Darkshore gloves of the same colour and adding the moon priest cape PvP recolour to hide the gross fur stuck to the back of your thighs, hide the chest piece for the bra and the white scarf helmet from trading post.
Bear in mind this is only for female leather, I guess a passable 1/8 is about what I would expect from Blizzard these days. Unsure why we couldn’t get all 3 Darkshore matching tints, plus why couldn’t the fur get the Orc heritage treatment, fur back kilt looks great on that set and moves.
The female chest piece is 0 effort and whatever they’ve done to the tattoos is terrible, I could draw them better in ms paint.
As for the story, I went in expecting it to be low effort and was surprised to find it was even worse than I expected. Know what would have been good, a meeting of all the notables to discuss next steps and where to relocate the capital, settling on Dire Maul, which we then proceed to clear out of Ogres. As thanks for our efforts in establishing a new home for our displaced people, we are awarded the set and title (with an explanation as to what it actually means).
Im actually glad that both the european and my local forum are much more reasonable than the…us one on matters like kaldorei “lore”. (or something thT Requires critical thinking)
Its not the amount but quality most wont get behind just to insult others…
This…was just a coby paste quest from classic to mask as “heritage” even though it had literally no “heritage” Maiev accepting… 1 nelf, something that the rest of Nelven society accepted long ago is not “heritage” material…
Im done…i give up…Kaldorei are just punching bags to be beaten and humiliated…(10/10 the true kaldorei exp)
Because they cannot address the current issues of the Night Elves without reminding people of the horrendous writing from the BfA and Shadowlands. Also because the Kal’doreis’ issues for the last decade have mostly been caused by the Horde, whom they are supposed to be best friends with now. So a generic feelgood message about the importance of inclusivity should be enough to really get those Night Elf mains hyped for their favourite race.
Second, the writing in general has been trash tier for years now. And this might be unpopular, but IMO Dragonflight has the worst writing I’ve seen since BfA. It’s just so bland and devoid of meaning. Dragonflight feels like the newsletter I get from HR each month. It’s safe and very corporate writing. Almost offensively inoffensive and sanitised.
I am not sure who is to blame - lack of talent on the side of the writers or if their creativity is being hamstrung by corporate policies. But the result is just grey, tasteless slop.
The heritage armour for Lightforged Draenei has been datamined to have several colour variants, but we only ever got a single one. Just because it’s in the game files unfortunately doesn’t mean Blizzard will also release it to players
Of all the places I hoped to go with my elf, running down a cave for 10 minutes in the last thing I expected. Also these new nelfs are a caricature of the original wc3 concept art. Anyone remember bloodthirsty tribal women or their more animalistic male counterparts? Instead of vengeance for many crimes against their people we got a mage guy with paint on his face blizzard 2024
