[Night Elf] Remembrance Ceremony, 11th October

Considering all the hardships the night elves have endured, it’s probable that everyone has suffered a personal loss. Moon Priestess Hidani invites people to hang handmade memorial ornaments on a wisteria tree in Bel’ameth, honoring those they’ve lost, whether in the distant past or more recently. There’s time to offer some words in memory of the departed.

Date: Saturday 11th October, 2025
Time: 20:00 Server Time
Location: Bel’ameth, near the gazebo
Faction: Alliance

Event details:

This is an Alliance-only event aimed at night elf characters, first hosted as part of the New Home, New Hope event series and there was interest in seeing the ceremony return this year. After a week, the ornaments will be moved to a nearby grove to join the previous year’s memorabilia. Some characters may refer to this area as the ‘Grove of Remembrance’.

OOC details:

  • To ensure smooth turn-taking, please prepare any speeches for other characters or NPCs beforehand. Since this year’s event isn’t divided into two parts, the speeches can be a little longer than the previous time. Depending on the attendee numbers, we might have two queues so that everyone can have a turn at the tree.
  • It’d be wonderful if players could summon a Wisp companion as the memorial event proceeds. These summoned wisps could symbolize a spirit known to the attendee, or they could be a curious, unknown presence drawn from Amirdrassil’s branches. Regardless of the time of their passing, the event’s purpose is to commemorate the character’s loved ones who are gone.
  • If you could help placing a Leylight Brazier (toy) in a crescent formation around the tree, as if they were kaldorei braziers, that’d be appreciated! Hidani will have some to trade if you don’t have one.
  • There may be sharding still active on Amirdrassil, so please whisper Acrona for a raid group invite.

A couple of weeks to go! Last year, it was interesting to see whom the attendees honored, and I think it’s a nice way to allude to a background story, NPC relationships, or nods at player characters that have passed away. If you’re planning to do a brief speech for this, please prepare it in advance to maintain a good pace.

The event happens this Saturday!

A reminder that sharding is likely still be in place, so please whisper Hidani for a raid group invite if you see nobody at the event location. Pulling other players into the party leader’s shard only works if you’re already in the same zone, so please check that too before asking for an invite, cheers!

If need be, I’ll multibox to have two raids groups simultaneously.

A shame I’m not home to join this event! Eitherway I hope everyone has fun! Bel’ameth is a beautiful place to hold RP events!

Update; please whisper Acrona instead of Hidani for a raid invite!

Didn’t have trouble with it last year, but it appears I cannot phase Hidani into the same shard with level 70 characters, which has been a common issue for other Dragon Isle zones.

Thank you everyone who came! And special shout-out to Thaera [‘Herapeutic’] who co-hosted the ceremony with Hidani!

My apologies to the one or two individuals who couldn’t attend due to level based phasing; I don’t think we had the problem when we did the event last year since I had Hidani there back then, hence I thought the problem didn’t extend to Amirdrassil.

Here’s some pictures of the event & the opening speech!

Welcome, sisters, brothers, friends. Mother Moon shines gently tonight.
My name is Hidani Stardew, and I am honored to serve tonight’s ceremony together with Priestess Thaera Evergloam.

Tonight we remember those who are gone. You might’ve brought with you an ornament to be hung on the branches as a token of remembrance.

These tokens, these memorabilia, may look different from person to person.

If you don’t have an item of your own, we have some items from crescents to animal figurines should any of them remind you of your loved one.

You’re of course welcome to honor your loved one with words alone. And you’re welcome to do both, if you wish to.

After a week, the memorabilia will be moved to a grove outside Bel’ameth, to be hung there among last year’s tokens.

Firstly, I’d like to ask –

How many of you have lost a loved one, friend or comrade during the Fourth War?

How many lost someone in the Third War?

And how many of you lost someone you care for in the Satyr Wars, or the War of the Shifting Sands?

Many of us have lost so many people. And not just to war, of course.

Yet, our relationship with those we care for doesn’t end when they’re gone; that bond continues to evolve as our own life changes.

They may not be in the same room with us, yet they’re present in our thoughts and hearts.

We may not make new experiences with them like we used to, but we still relate to them, and they may still define us in many ways. In that way, they remain with us.

As we evolve, so too might our understanding of the person we once loved.

We may comprehend someone now, even if we didn’t in the past.

The habits of our loved ones that once annoyed us might now be things we do ourselves, even if we used to be angry with them.

So let us remember those who are gone, yet still with us today.

May silvery gratitude stand beside the longing where there was once black grief.
