I just managed to log in for a split second after waiting for my character screen for 30+ min, and then about 20 min in the loading screen. I was online for a flash, saw my character was dead (from previous DC while fighting) and I was disconnected. Now I’m back at the black character screen.
update: After around 20 minutes of black screen I could finally see my char list. Now stuck at around 90% of actual login for the past 5 minutes. I’m guessing I will be getting instantly DC’ed if I even manage to log in from what I’m reading so far.

same here. it’s nearly two days and i just could play for couple of hours yesterday around afternoon.

15 minutes of loading screen
I can play ! (and I’ll never disconnect, NEVER !)
Wish I haven’t been restarting the game constantly for the past 2 hours in hope of fixing it 
update 2: after around 10 minutes of loading screen I am finally in. The first few minutes seem stable enough. Fight on brothers and sisters, Blizzard WILL get our money whether they like it or not!!
The ugly truth is that EU are small market for Blizzard (AV) and don’t care if we have an problem. And yes, they will get your money in the end of the month.
For me is normal if you pay for motioning you need to get normal service, advisably we can’t get it from Blizzard !
In the end of the day the “Support” will give a note that they really sorry for this issue and they do the best to make it better. But of course they will get there salary, no meter what.
Sorry but this is crap!
Waited about 15 minutes on a black screen and my character appeared, selected it, now staring at a 2/3’s filled loading bar, 15 minutes and counting.

Been like this for me the entire morning as well… Other realms working just fine.
Almost 2 hrs now… seriously blizzard get your stuff together lol… how hard can it be after all these years of trial and error?

After black screen, I select my char and then I am greeted with a loading screen where I am just disconnected after waiting 20 minutes
After another 15 min stuck in the loading screen I got DC’d and after that I waited 5 min in a 45 min queue anndddd DC again.
All these problems and realm = full messages (queue’s) are the result of many years of greedy management and unwillingness to use scalable services/systems.

Same for me - been staring at the black character select screen on Kazzak for hours this morning.
What angers me is that they replied in Kazzak problems thread 'we closing it, all was fixed, those were brief issues". Unacceptable - ISSUES ARE STILL THERE!

I find it ironic how the top streamers have no issues while the average player has problems everyday with the game. Welcome to World of Warcraft load screen bosses everyone. Let’s hope they fix it within the next 10 hours. If we are super lucky we might even get a generic tweet… Honestly, zero communication with the players that have made this game a success over the past 15 years.
Made a ticket for blizzard asking them to step up their game, or compensate people from the affected servers, I suggest you do the same. =)
