I like you too :). I just think some of this is over reaction. People hate change, it’s in our nature. People are obviously genuinely upset.
Lets take Caverns of Time as an example.
I’m in Dazar’alor, so to get to CoT, I’m going to use a portal to Orgrimmar, then a portal to new Dalaran, portal to Shrine, then use portal to Old Dalaran, then run over to use the portal to CoT.
Instead I can just portal to Orgimmar, then fly over to the portal to Uldum and use FP to get nearish CoT and fly last bit.
Yes we are losing a teenie bit of convenience but we will just need to hop on a short flight path or just simply fly on our own mounts to get somewhere.
Obviously someone who is a mage or someone who has an item that ports them straight to Old Dalaran wont have to jump through so many hoops but the rest of the player based does. I can see the logic in streamlining the portals more and cutting back on some of the expansion specific ones.
If people were being asked to fly from Orgrimmar down to Tanaris I would agree it’s a big change and could be compared to swimming the Ocean but really it’s a minor redirect via Uldum.
I do take your point you can cut out some of the portal hopping providing your New Dala HS is off c/d. There so many variations of journeys it would have been a very long post to put every single variation in .
Seems to me that Blizzard do it to remove stray routes and keep population condensed so you are forced into high traffic areas to make the world feel more populated because they are all funneled into the same places.
The Blue response on the US forums seems to indicate that method of thinking.
I don’t rly understand why someone would thought how placing more obstacles and restrictions for traveling around the world, which could result sometimes with even more loading screens ( and nobody rly likes the loading screens in a MMO ) is a good idea ?
You gotta stop doing this to me! You know there is 2 kinds of people on this forum for me:
type 1. When they disagree with my information i question (in my mind) their sanity
type 2. When they disagree with my information i question my own sanity.
You are part of the group 2 so when ever you say something i thought was different i start to scratch my head and google around confusedly and completely lose my confidence of actually knowing about the talked issue
I clearly needed more coffee before coming on the forums
I do understand why some are upset, I honestly do but it’s just a little extra on some journeys. I would sacrifice every portal in the game if they’d remove the damn GCD
For me it is sort of issue of this kind of things gathering and gathering up, not so much just the problem with portals or moving. It really grinds me they use (what i call) “cheap tricks” to make world fell “bigger” or make people to gather certain points. For me it is bad game developement and sign of going for cheap solutions.
I would prefer for example that to make world feel bigger they would actually make it bigger. Or put some events to places which are bit further from existing portals so that would add some travel time while also adding some content. Or, if they want people to gather to certain areas to make them feel fuller and more populated, they could add there some unique and fun things to do instead of just making it harder to go elsewhere.
That is the reason i keep raising my voice here when there is small changes like this coming out. Not so much because i would so much suffer from this single change itself.
